Hi All,
I have been noticing that since I've gone more high raw that my body was still hungry. Right now I am getting MORE nutrition than I ever have in my life and the body still wants more nutrition.
I am theorizing this is a transition until my body adjusts to the right amounts of foods. I also crave more water which is good.

on SAD..I would just eat and eat until I had that full feeling in my stomach.
I've been fooling my stomach in being full of nutrition all these years!

The feeling from nutrient density food vs. the full feeling but no nutrition food is different. Its much lighter. Im used to having a full stomach.

I have heard of some raw vegans on here eat very small quantities of food, but this may be after several months/ years of eating this way? I would read about their quantity and think how I would starve on that amount of food.

I am also hoping to minimize my need for food as I detox further... also to reduce my grocery bill.

I'm looking for input from somone who is past the actual transition and adjustment to a raw food lifestyle.
Has your need for food quantity minimized or maximized after going raw after a long-term?

Peace and Love,
Tweety

We noticed this change very soon after going super-high raw. (we do 100% for awhile and then choose to have a near-raw dinner out or tea, etc- so I suppose we're 98% or something, just for info and comparison purposes).

Once your body is detoxed and can more readily assimilate nutrients, its satiety signals will be sharper.

Many people have been conditioned to gorge themselevs until their stomachs are distended. As the stomach returns to a more normal size, you will feel physical "fullness" with less food.

So you have a few things working in your favor with a raw lifestyle.

No need to push this process along; it will happen quite naturally. Your body is essentially being re-educated with good food. :)

Tweety,

I agree with hypnocmt. Everyone is different, and it all depends on how you process food, how much your system needs to be cleaned out, etc. I found that after a month of being 100% raw, I was eating less and less. I also was eating very intuitively--listening to my body about what it wanted. I always felt satisfied, ate more small meals, and never felt too full or too hungry. Enjoy the transition--it only gets better. :)

I have only been raw since early January and I now only need very little intake of food. I just don't feel hungry a lot of the time.:)

My experience/opinion:

-I transitioned over a year or two....and have been all raw for many years. My experience is that folks often should/need to stay very full on healthier foods....while their bodies make the change. It usually did not take 2 weeks to arrive at the condition a person is in....and I often support them in setting a generous (but definite) timeframe in achieving THEIR goals.

-I would avoid concentrating on reducing your amount of food - initially. It is probably better to go the other way and eat TOO MANY healthy foods! Ha! ha! Especially fresh greens, fruits and vegetables. This is true from the point of view of staying full....and keeping the body flooded with a wide variety of nutrients during its transition. What do you think?

Hi David,
All of what you say makes sense. After all that is the underlying TRUTH behind raw foods. it simply just makes sense!
I believe we all have an intuition and we just need to hone our intuitive ability not only by listening to, but uncovering it by all the junk and toxins that we have buried ourselves in. Its funny, because i'll post a comment/question in here and then i notice... a few days later I'll have major progress in a matter of even 1-2 days!!! and then come back and see that I have already found the answers to my questions before i even get some of the responses!

The Mind/Body connection.

When we have filled up with junk for so long we disconnect the mind & body, but when we begin to cleanse and eat the way mother nature intends
I think I intuitively knew that i needed more nutrition once i began to have little but very significant breakthroughs.....since I basically was starving myself and heading down that path of accelerated aging/disease etc...

Storm Talifero from the Garden Diet has this same approach about simple truths. im still so intrigued and excited about the whole concept of the human body not just surviving but actually thriving on a minimal amount of food and having larger amounts of strength, endurance and energy and a more quality type of muscle mass.

Im not concentrating on reducing food intake. I am sure it will decline as my body changes and I shouldnt need as much. I've been in feast mode after a famine of little nutrition over so many years. I definitely dont see Raw Foods as a starvation diet.

I think on my next payday I should be ready to get Alissa's book & DVD.
