Oh my, Oh my...I made this last night and it is the BEST. The 2nd day is even better as she says. It really does taste like REAL Apple Cobbler. I'm in love! :-)
Now I just need to make Vanilla Ice Cream (with real coconut in it) to have with it. The cobbler is from http://therawtable.com

Yes, this is a delicious dish! When I went to Maine to help with making food for Alissa's Sept. training, those of us who were food prep assistants made Anna's apple cobbler with ice cream for the guests and they LOVED it! It was so good, esp. warm out of the dehydrator with that ice cream...Mmmmm

Mmmm...we made this today. My family didn't even want to wait for it to go in the dehydrator. So good!

Lauri,
It would probably be fine without a dehydrator if you just let it sit for awhile so the apples get softened from the stuff you put on it. Or you can take a lesson from the page of MawintheRaw's book and cover it and place it outside in the sun. (She did that last summer with her portabello "cheeseburgers" - http://mawintheraw.blogspot.com/2006_07_01_archive.html).
I took this to a non-raw potluck on Friday and everyone loved it!!! They were shocked to find out it was raw. One of the guys swore that the apples were baked and one of the teenage boys said it was the best pie he ever had. (BTW we like it more cinnamony so we use 1 TBL.)

Hi Joz,
I've made Nomi Shannon's halvah recipe before and it was delish! Great way to use almond pulp too!
Halvah
1 ½ cup raw almonds (or almond pulp)
½ cup raw tahini
3 tablespoons honey (or 3-4 soaked dates)
1 teaspoon vanilla
Variation: Add 3 tablespoons carob to mixture.
In a food processor, place almonds and process until finely ground. Add the tahini, honey and vanilla, and process thoroughly. Press the mixture onto a plate or pan until it is 1/2" (1 cm) thick (don't worry about filling the pan, just press the mixture to the correct thickness). Chill the halvah in the refrigerator for 1 hour or more, then cut it into bite-sized pieces and roll into little balls.
Actually, I'll let you in on a little secret. I didn't have the halvah on its own, but used it to make my version of Coonlie's halvah fudge that she posted on this board.
Make a double batch of our beloved RP's brownies.
Layer the halvah on top. (Oh, I think I added a little coconut oil to help it harden too.)
Then finish off with "Store Bought Frosting", EPPP's recipe, I believe:
1 tablespoon Coconut butter
1 Tbsl Cocoa
Few grains of sea salt
Squirt Agave
Few drops vanilla
Or the carob topping that goes on Fairygirl's Chocolate Cream Stack.
Pop in the freezer to set.
Oh
My
God!
Sorry Eilene... didn't mean to highjack your cobbler thread! lol
Thank you so much for posting about it! I've been wanting to try an apple cobbler recipe for some time. Now I know which one to make!

Carmella: Thanks for the 'halvah' recipe; could you tell me; is it sort of 'grainy' I got one in health food store and it was so pasty and too heavy on honey. I'm looking for grainy. Will give these a try! Joz

I'm no halvah expert, but it seemed grainy to me...

I actually went to a store today and looked at "Halvah" label
crushed sesame, almonds, cashew nuts that's it for healthy
I GUESS WE CAN DO THIS with the honey or dates!
and then there's corn syrup sugar and dried eggs albumen, hydrogented vegetable oil--cottonseed, soya---flavors !!! Next week, unless another recipe beggs me to make it, I'll try this and let you know. Joz

Yum Carmella...that sounds delish! I'll definitely have to try that.
Here is my Halvah recipe. I really loved the SAD version of Halvah (which is grainy or stringy) I haven't had that much luck with it...but if you freeze it, it is more like SAD. I LOVE it! Here goes...
HALVAH
1/2 cup Sesame seeds (I use Hulled & unhulled mixed ground in coffee grinder)
1/2 cup Tahini
2 TBL Raw Honey
1 tsp Vanilla (I use 1 inch vanilla bean scraped)
Mix in food processor & then roll into balls. Put in fridge or freezer. Since I am addicted to honey, I dip them in honey when I eat them. They are also great dipped in Chocolate sauce. Oh my!!
Hope you enjoy then. :-)

I have tried to go to Maraw's links but there is nothing...can someone post the recipe for the cobbler? Or any other suggestions on how to get to the right site?

Hi - I was able to find it on goneraw.com (http://goneraw.com/recipe/yummy-apple-cobbler) It states in one of the comments below the recipe that it was from MaRaw's site and that she gives credit to Chad Sarno (raw food chef).
Yummy Apple Cobbler
Ingredients:
5 medium apples
½ cup raisins, soaked in water 2-4 hours or overnight in fridge
½ teaspoon cinnamon
½ lemon, juiced
2 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon vanilla
½ teaspoon nutmeg
½ teaspoon sea salt
COBBLER TOPPING INGREDIENTS
1½ cup pecans, not soaked
¾ cup dates, pitted and not soaked
½ teaspoon sea salt
Preparation:
Peel and chop ONE of the apples. Place it along with the drained raisins, cinnamon, lemon juice, honey, vanilla, nutmeg and salt in a food processor or high speed blender. Pure until completely smooth and creamy. Set aside.
Peel, core and slice thin remaining apples. Place slices in a large bowl and gently toss with pureed mix. Place in a medium sized glass or ceramic dish.
For the topping, in a food processor pulse the pecans until finely ground then add the dates and continue to grind untl evenly mixed. Crumble an even layer of the pecan mixture over the apples.
Place your pan in the dehydrator at 115 degrees for about 4 hours. Enjoy! Tastes even better after the first day!
I'm going right now to get some Apple Cobbler with freshly made Vanilla Ice Cream (made with coconuts & done in my ice cream maker
Doesn't that recipe look wonderful??
Say - would you please post your ice cream recipe? I'd love to take a look - and I need a raw food demo for our Meetup this Sunday and I'm coming up blank. Maybe this is it! *Ü*
