View Full Version : Pineapple cores
When I went to a raw food demonstration a couple weeks ago, the raw chef actually thinly cut up the core of the pinapple into slices (they looked like water chestnuts) into a broccoli stirfry. I was actually surprised they actually tasted good. Do any of you eat or use the pineapple cores for recipes or other uses?

I cut up the core, freeze it and blend into smoothies - but never thought to actually eat it cut up into a dish that - sounds interesting! My oldest daughter likes to chew on/eat the pineapple core as is, though.

I always just eat it along with the rest of it...either in slices or smoothies.

I use it in all my smoothies. i find it hard to chew though if I'm not using it in a smoothie.

Ditto what Laura said. Also, it grinds best if 3/4 of the ingredients are frozen.

I had my first real pineapple that I cut up my self. Oh it was so good. I did freeze the core because I read that is what people do, but then forgot what they said to do with it. lol Thanks for the post. I ate most of the pineapple before I could juice it. So good! :D

Depends on the overall tenderness of the pineapple. Some have been inedible at best. Others - well they're so soft and juicy it's indistinguishable from the rest of the pineapple.
