Hey there! Welcome!
How to start? Purchase Alissa's book (see on the left-hand side at Alissa's store). She has it all laid out for you!
Good luck!

How to start? If you don't have the book....you don't need it to start. As the Nike slogan goes, "Just do it!"

Oh yeah, this is true, but Alissa's book answers so many questions and really does give an awesome guideline.
But you can do raw without the book. Eat all unprocessed, unaltered, uncooked foods all the time. Green smoothies - as simple as:
2 cups of filtered water
handful of greens (spinach is a good one)
fruit of your choice
whip up in a blender and you got yourself a power drink!

Welcome - my advice would be to search thru and spend some time enjoying the postings on this site. There are wonderful people here who very willingly share advice, recipes and strategies - and, don't forget lots of encouragement! You'd be amazed the information you can gleen from the others here challenging themselves to be their best - be raw! Good Luck - you're sure to enjoy the journey. . .:)

Get Alissa's book. Until I got it, I was dabbling. The night I got it, I went 100% raw after I read the last word. It truly is the most comprehensive reference you will find on the raw lifestyle. And the recipes are amazing. This forum will be an invaluable tool, too. Welcome!!!!!!!!!:D

You may want to start by weaning yourself off the more potent detox causing substances - caffeine, sugar especially. This way you won't experience headaches or detox symptoms as strongly. Eat as much raw as you can and wean yourself off caffeine - taking out 1 cup of coffee per day until you are ready to go 100% raw! Good luck!

Green smoothies are awesome. Every morning I have a smoothie with two bananas and a handful of kale/spinach and about 2 cups of water. Blend, done. (having braces makes this more difficult, but it's still good) Have these for breakfast and you're already on your way to a raw lifestyle.

Like tinacampy said, start cutting out anything that's just bad for you: caffeine, candy bars, red meat. Drink water instead of soda.

Get a juicer: apples + carrots juiced are very good.

Have a salad at lunch every day. No cheese or croutons or bacon bits. Dressing must be something raw like cold pressed olive oil. Maybe make your own before so you have it ready.

Yo Newbie,

It's simple.

Go to the store. Buy fruits and veggies.

Come home.

Sit down.

Eat fruits and veggies.

Repeat.

Peace,

M.B.

I have been working at being raw for about 3 wks now. Just found this site and would like to join discussions. However, I have never done this kind of 'chatting' before - how do I get back to, say, this thread if I have a question and want to see if anyone replied. HA, just occured to me that I had better figure it out myself or I won't be able to see your answers! Is wicked crabbiness normal at the start of raw? I have been horribly hateful lately and would rather it not continue.

lolopender - eat more often. . .this would help with the crankiness. . .
