In the past 2 hours my throat became sore and swollen and feeling flu-like.
There are people around my office who are coughing today. ick!

How would we know if it is a detox or catching a flu or illness from someone?

Would it be safe to say that someone who is normal and healthy is incapable of catching a "contagious" air-borne illness or are we just fooling ourselves?
We have barely scratched the surface on human health in terms of a raw food lifestyle, so is it really possible for a balanced and fully attuned human body to get sick if the immune is truly strong and healthy?

i stopped getting flu-shots years ago and dont get the flu anymore. i also havent smoked ciggies for almost 3 days now so i dont know if that's related. (trying to quit by discipline)
I havent felt a sore throat like this in ages it seems.

I have also developed a small tiny itchy rash on the upper thighs. i tried Nair one time and was thoroughly burned and got a really bad rash and it looks quite similiar to the rash i got then.

I dont know if im experiencing detox or really getting sick?

how can we truly iknow the difference? is it possible?

Maybe it is hard for my concious to believe the "feeling sick before youre cleansed" theory and could use a little support on this matter. The conventional wisdom is to stuff it with drugs and i feel that there may also be some mental/emotional detoxing i am experiencing as well.
I havent seen much documentation on the issue or if there is any research done on a true detox.

Thoughts?

Just remember all "illness" symptoms ARE detox. If you feel this detox coming on I'd eat as simple as possible, perhaps fast if you are able. I know others havce more complete information on this and can explain it better.

As Dream says it ALL detox. One cannot "catch" something from another.

When one's system is toxic, parasites will enter the body to eat the toxins which is where, imo, people have gotten the idea there are "bugs". Well, there are yet, which came first... the toxicity or the bugs? Without toxins in the system, there's nothing for the "bugs" to eat.

Exactly. When your body gets "sick" it means that there is something there that does not belong, thus your body tries to get it out through detox. If we all ate healthier and lived healthier lifestyles, there would be none of this constanst state of detox for our bodies.

I agree with what the others have said. All illness is detox.

Check out www.rawfoodexplained.com for a great explanation of this concept.

All the best,

Hi All,
Thanks for the responses and even for all the support I've received, not withstanding this post, on this board!!!
Last week was the week I stopped smoking... FINALLY. My goal is ZERO Cigarettes!!!
At the same time I also started my menstrual cycle on Monday and then on Wednesday is when the Flu came in so I had a lot of stuff coming out!!

I have been noticing not just a physical detox but also a mental/emotional one. I had posted previously in the "personal growth" forum and kindof laid out my laundry. Sorry bout that!
I've realized that I need to keep up with my blog and also create a diary of sorts to work through all this emotional stuff that is coming up.

It is challenging because I havent connected with my local Raw Vegan community for support/talk, etc... so Raw Food Talk is all I have now!!!

I have been learning SOOO much in such a short time period, I am having a culture shock on all levels. It is AMAZING!!!
For the first time I finally am craving fruits on a level I never have before and my body has never been this nourished since I was a baby!!! :D

Revell,
Alissa was right when she said on your last radio show.... "You dont have to change your life to do Raw Foods, but Raw Foods will change your life"
