I did a search and couldn't find this topic, so sorry if it's been covered. I know Nama shouy is raw, but it also has wheat in it, so I was wondering if one has an allergy to wheat, would you use braggs then? I'm kinda sure it's not raw, but maybe a good alternative.

Bragg's it not raw. There's a thread somewhere around here about this. Click on the banana and search Bragg's. (Sort of controversial.) It does add great flavor.

I wish they didn't put wheat in nama shoyu as so many recipes call for it.

Belinda,
May I suggest that as you consider this question, you try the taste of both of these items if you can reconcile that with being raw. Personally neither my dh nor I like Bragg's at all. In my opinion, it leaves a very prevalent aftertaste (kind of like all Starbuck's coffee, except for Cafe Verona) in everything you use it in. On the other hand I do like the taste of Nama Shoyu; however, as I learned last week with a recipe disaster, the sodium in it can be overwhelming if the recipe calls for alot of it.
