Hello everyone, I have a quick question. Today I was trying to start my 30 days raw challenge again, I did great then after I went to the gym I got the biggest craving for something that starts with M and isn't vegan or vegetairian;). I am wondering if there was a reason I got this craving. What should someone eat after they work out?

maybe you needed some fat. try eating an avocado? Or maybe take a handful of almonds with you and pop those in your mouth afterwards? I heard that almonds can help with post work out soreness too!

I'd definately eat some nuts and raisins/ orange slices following a work out plus plenty of water to replinish.

i agree with the above.

also keep in mind that usually, during times of initial detox/cleansing, the first big craving you get for something you havent had in a few days (but regularly do have) is for the food your body is actually the most intolerant to.

i have this trouble with dairy. dairy is one of those foods that is just disgusting to me on a conscious level, but physiologically my body will sometimes scream out for it loud and clear. i used to have this trouble with gluten, also. luckily with persistence thats been overcome. the longer you persist, the less this will occur, and it will eventually subside once you break the addiction.

just gotta keep in mind it isnt your body screaming out for nutrients, its your body screaming out for its "daily fix"

NURIENTS vs. the old Junky FIx:rolleyes:

That is definately something to keep in mind

When I ran cross country, our coach would require us to bring a snack to eat after running/working out. Most of us lived about 25 minutes away from school, and he said that our bodies absolutely needed it within 20 minutes or so to replace what it lost and to help our bodies reap the most benefits from the runs. There was no option to even wait until we go home!

We did not eat cheeseburgers or hot dogs, though! :) We were told to bring a piece of fruit. Like Kitty said, if you are craving fat, you could always have an avocado (or some coconut meat), or even a dried fruit/nuts mix.

Just because you crave cooked stuff doesn't mean you need it, You may also have stirred up some junk in you when you worked out, that's why getting active is so good for you while you transition/detox, you may need to start thinking about a cleanse of your choice...

juss ma 10 cents....

I often wait far too long to eat...
(in hopes of making it home for that ''perfect'' green smoothie.)
yesterday I had a banana right after my kickbox session (followed by lunch 1 hour later) and felt sooo much better in the later afternoon.
good advice.
