My mom came to visit me in February and was a bit leary of the "raw thing." (She bought cheese and put it in my refrigerator:eek: )! After a week with me, she decided to go Raw. Background on Mom: Drinks 2 pots of coffee everymorning and another pot before bedtime. She additionally drinks a 6-pack or more of diet Coke per day. Smokes 1-2 packs per day of cigarettes since age 15 (now 63). (It's how she treats her ADHD, which she refuses to admit that she has). Since going raw, she only drinks about 2 cups of coffee per day, smokes 2-3 cigarettes and has a rare diet coke. She says she has lost the taste for coffee and doesn't feel she needs the cigarettes anymore. She says she has much more energy now and feels great. She is having a blast sprouting (which I have yet to venture into). and makes crackers, manna breads and other delicious food. yeah MOM!

Your mom sounds like she's doing great for herself, and it's definitely got to be great having a caring daughter right there on her journey! :)

That is wonderful! See? It's never, ever too late to change for the good. Our bodies are amazing, healing machines. She'll be healthy in no time. Way to go! You are a good, good daughter.

That's so great! I wish I could get my Mom to change but she thinks I've gone mad.

I am just the opposite. I am 66 and my son and family that I live with will not change.
That is so great for her to be giving up all that at once. It is not easy to do but if eating Raw is working than that is another plus for anyone to give it a try. Wish i could get more people interested. The thought of giving up their Sad food is just to far fetched for them to even try.
U r a great daughter to get her going in it.

Thanks everyone, I think the key has been to just introduce great food to the non-rawist. I made my mom beet "ravioli" and heirloom tomatoe "lasagna". She loved them both. The more gourmet stuff I fixed, the more she loved it, but she did want something simplified. We went to the bookstore together and gathered one each of every raw book on the shelf. I fasted through each to find the simplest ones to follow and... it had to have pictures. Mom has been going strong since. It is one of the few times she has taken this doctor's advice:p . jg

Sounds like your mom is reaping the benefits of RAW!!!

I am hoping the same for my mom. The has agreed to attend the Raw Spirit Fest with me this year!
