Can I make Kelp Powder out of the sheets?

I cannot find Kelp Powder at the only Health food store nearby, but I have Kelp sheets. Has anyone made powder from the sheets? I know I can order it online, but I would like to try & use what I have, since I've been spending/ordering like crazy. My husband has no idea as I hide the receipts.(LOL) Girls you know what I mean :cool:
