Hi Ladies,

I have never had regular periods. My doctor had me on hormones. I have not taken them since December. This is my first period since January. It is terrible. I usually don't even have cramps.

2 questions?

What do raw women do for cramps besides suffer through it? (I've done some reiki and that helps but I have to work with my hands)

Do you stop having cramps after being raw for a while?

This is day 25 for me 100% RAW and loving it!

A heating pad or hot water bottle might help....I've always had luck with them for muscular aches.

acupuncture or massage

mild hot pack on tummy, hot towel will do nicely

Warm baths especially with ginger

Ginger tea strong as you can take it

magnesium...my favorite.

be sure to limit your salt intake - that hurts you at this time!

Use Dr. Schulze's Female Balance, the PMS wonder supplement. :)

I was so weepy yesterday. About nothing and everything. I didn't even realize until this morning why. My husband caught hell yesterday. I didn't have any symptoms until today. :(

if youre not opposed to supplements, my housemates and i all had success with using magnesium supplements to combat cramps. but its not a quick-fix, you have to take it consistently for a few weeks before your period. when i took the supps consistently, no cramps. magnesium relaxes the muscles i think

I just got mine yesterday. :p The pain!

I agree w/ others...heats pads, and I find that stretching exercises help me. I've read from others that as you continue being raw, the pain minimizes or either does not occur anymore. So keep RAWkin'!

I don't know if there is anything to it but I always crave lots of dates around and during my period. I also stopped getting cramps altogether after being raw for a while and I used to get awefully bad cramps.

I always have bad cramps. I started drinking green smoothies and would put a huge chunk of ginger in them. And last month I didn't have ANY cramps at all and my period was WAY less severe. It was awesome. I don't know how often you have to take it for it to work....I was drinking them every day a few weeks before my period started.

My fav smoothie is a banana ginger shake. Bananas, Ginger, Celery, Almond Milk and squeeze of lemon (also throw some hemp powder in there...it seems to help with the headaches)

Green smoothies have really cut down on all my monthly symptoms. Pain, heavy flow, weepiness all very much improved.

I can't usually handle fasting, but if I fast just one day right before my moon I do remarkably well.

Don Quai apparently helps alleviate common symptoms such as bloating, mood swings and abdominal cramping.

My daughter was bitten by a dog today and I was a wreck. I cried more than she did.

I'm sorry to hear about your daughter.

I was on the pill for almost ten years because of irregular periods. I was fourteen when I started!

When I became raw I finally had the courage to stop taking the pill. So far no symptoms, they come at regular times and they last about three days.

Mineral deficiencies are one of the reasons why women have menstrual problems. I reccommend green smoothies and super foods such as spirulina and wheat grass.
