but it's rather expensive so does anyone know of an alternative that would work as well.
Also i see that it makes sherbet and other ice creams which is good and i found one for $199.00.

... it's okay.
pain to clean up and not so good with wheatgrass or kale, etc.

if i were in a position to buy juicer, i would go with the Green Star, or another top-notch juice extractor.

how often do you like to juice?
fruits, veggies, nut butter, ice cream?

spend your $ in accordance with your needs.

google "juicer". do some research.

I would prioritize an expensive blender over a juicer, as I find I use the blender much more often.

Congrats on your decision to consume more FRESH juice!
One of the BEST thing you can do for your health and well being!

When i looked at it and briefly read through the booklet it said you could make icecream with it and that impressed me.
I have several juicers, the upright kind already and i realize the importance of juicing. It has really helped us to get on the road to better health.

Here is a chart that compares the homogonizing juicers: http://www.discountjuicers.com/compare2.html

I agree with Kate about the superiority of a good blender though. I got the Samson juicer as a luxury item, to make some juice but mainly to make butters and ice creams etc. I don't use it nearly as much as by Blendtec Total Blender or my food processor. I've heard the champion isn't good with juicing greens, then again, it's better to just put the greens in a smoothie anyway, get all that fiber! You can make sherberts, ice cream and nut butters in your food processor.

If you do go with the champion, check out eBay or Craigslist. You can always find used models that are pretty cheap.

Get the OMEGA! :-) Free shipping, like $220 max, does everything a champion does, dry pulp, EASY PUT TOGETHER AND CLEAN UP. A KID COULD DO IT. :-) Much cuter, too. :-)
