eating raw chocolate... can you really feel the caffeine? i heard that before you cook it, the caffeine factor is really low and you cant feel it. so whats the deal with that? by the way i am a chocoholic and its startin to get to me lol.:D
There are several camps on the nutritional value of raw cacoa... I eat it and see no problem with it. I pretty much live by the "all things in moderation" credo.
I'm not sure if it is the caffeine or another element that provides the mood elevators, but I definitely feel bouncier and cheerful for a couple of hours after drinking a smoothie with it in it. And it's just darned yummy!

I react to caffine and prior to going raw if I drank a cup of black tea within a few hours of bed time it would keep me awake for hours.
I find that if I have about a 1 inch cube of my homemade raw chocolate a couple of hours before bed it does not have any effect on me. That is all I would have so I can not speak for the effects of having more

It's not only cafeine. Raw cocoa contains theobromine, a stimulant. Does it taste any better than carob?

I like it but I am hyper-sensitive to caffiene and it gives me panic attacks. I have to be careful with cacao.

Oh yes, it tastes much better than carob, it tastes like chocolate! It is! :D It doesn't change my mood at all (anymore, it did the first couple times I had it) and I also have it in moderation. It's just a treat I have every once in a while. :)

The effect of raw chocolate is very individual.
I wish my body wasn't as effected by the compounds within raw chocolate.
Hi Raw Surfer,
I liked the taste of raw chocolate, but my system is too sensitive, and I feel edgy after I eat any. I have never been able to drink coffee or caffeinated tea for the same reason.
Ironically, I never felt edgy or otherwise affected by cooked chocolate. I was hoping that raw chocolate would be similar. But for me it is far more potent.
Even a little bit.:(
I hope you have better luck!:)
All the best,
Soulstar

I am caffine sensitive....I made the Brownies once and that was enough for me. NO RAW Chocolate for me. If it doesn't bother you I am Thrilled for you.
