Ok, so i havn't really started yet going totally raw. I'm waiting on Alissa's book and CD's in the mail.
Here's my situation. I THINK I have Candida. I'm tired All the time. I have a 5 yr. old and a 4 month old. I sleep about 10 hrs. a night (my baby sleeps well through the night), and I wake up around 9am. Then I go back to sleep for a nap around 11am. Sometimes I continue to sleep for 5 MORE HOURS! The fatigue is dabilitating!
I know most people on a SAD experience Low energy, but this is insane to me. I've been like this on and off for years. When I try to excersise, I make it a couple weeks on a reasonable routine until I completely crash. So much for getting more energy.
Anyway, I can't go to the doctor at the moment and get my blood tested (like for thyroid problems or something) because I am not insured at the moment :( and don't have 100's of $ to invest in a doctor who tells me there is nothing wrong with me (as they have many times in the past).
The reason I think I have Candida is because of the symptoms I have, especially the fatigue.
Anyway, I figure that whatever the problem is, a raw diet can probably solve it. But then there is detox. I know it's different for everyone, but what can I expect before it gets better? Does it usually get worse first?
Am I being unrealistic by expecting raw to save my health in this way?
I know these are a lot of questions, but I just need to hear your story and how raw has dramatically affected YOUR health. THanks so much!

The fatigue could be your present diet, and not candida at all.

From my personal experiance, I thought mine was candida systemically,
and went to my friend who is a natropath and she said that if anyone had it systemically, it would cause one to become very very sick and even in the hospital. So, rest your little head about that. If you really had candida systemically, you wouldn't have the energy to type. You would be very very sick, according to my natropath friend.

I would say watch your diet and encorporate raw food replacements for the cooked versions.

The fatigue could be also lack of exercise.

Or, it could be emotional. Like stress.

Graciously,

Going raw has done amazing things for me.
My energy is through the roof,
mycomplexion is wonderfully clear,
My IBs is gone gone gone!!!!
and I have sooooo many new idea my head actually hurts LOL even tho I don't get headaches anymore (if that makes sense)
I just feel so much lighter.
I haven't had candida issues in a long time!!
Its well worth a try.

Expect to start hating your tv & much music. Your mind seems to appreciate more calm, serene sounds.

Expect to start 'spring cleaning' for months because you no longer feel the need to keep old, broken, or needless things around you.

Expect to see the grocery stores differently...and... the shoppers buying all the food. You will quickly learn what is filler & what is real food.

Expect your body to absorb raw food. It wont have to expel 95% like cooked food.

That's just a few...

You should expect to feel alive, really alive like never before.

nursing, that could explain some of the fatigue, especially if you're not 100 percent raw yet. Being a mommy is exhausting sometimes! If your body needs rest, by all means - sleep!!

Going raw has been a challenge for me, but I can honestly say that the days I've been 100 percent have been the absolute best. Detox isn't that much fun, but it varies for everyone, so don't let that scare you.

The process of going raw has been incredible, because I have begun to "own" it rather than just following it because it sounds like a good idea and others have gotten the results I want. I totally believe in raw, even when I'm not doing it, and every time I'm not raw I realize how much I want it. There is nothing like that clean, sweet, light feeling of being in a body that is comfortable to live in.

Good luck!

The fatigue could be from many things. If you are a coffee drinker, your adrenals could be fatigued, causing you to feel tired and drained especially towards the afternoon. Dehydration is another factor.

Raw foods will definately give you more energy especially since that means no coffee, refined sugar, and all the other chemicals out there that rob the body of it's vitality.

Thanks everybody. I'm encouraged. I CANT WAIT to get started. I'm making some slow progress already. I don't drink coffee, but I do have a serious sugar addiction, which I battle everyday, and there is definately a direct correlation between how much sugar I eat and how tired I am.
Anyway, thanks for all your encouragement. Keep em comin.

Pennypower, you will find that the more fruit you incorporate and the more you eat raw, that will diminish. I used to HAVE to have my sweets - I never crave sugar anymore now...so hang in there as it (addiction to processed sugars) WILL pass! :)

Also, if you don't mind me saying...please don't claim anything (i.e. "I think I have candida") - symptoms are just that...symptoms and so many various symptoms can and do fit the bill of many various named dis-eases...but just recognize that you have symptoms and work on healing them via prayer/meditation/reflection (whichever you do), rest, exercise, sunshine, fresh air and of course - changing your diet. But there is really no need to try and lay claim on a particular illness by name. :)

rawkinlocs, yeah I definately see your point.:D I know what you mean by "claim". Not a great thing to do.
I will pray and claim great health instead.:)

What excellent advice! It put the emphasis on where it belongs -- on moving toward excellent health.

Pennypower, whatever you can eat raw now while you're waiting will start the process. WELCOME!:D
