View Full Version : Tell me I'm not going to get sick!

I opened a jar of raw sourkraut by rejuvinative foods and spooned it onto my plate.

The next thing I heard DH say was,"it's fermented, DON"T eat it"! As I looked toward the jar, I was shocked to see the sourkraut had risen above, up and over the jar, sorta like a volcano, and onto the counter, it just kept bubbling up.

I was sick to my stomach, and DH said to throw it away. So i did.

Please tell me I'm not getting sick from eating this fermented moldy food that I ate!!

Has anyone else experianced this before?

Was the lid sealed? Course if u dont process it i dont know how it could be sealed. I have sauerkraut in my frig that i did myself but have not had it long enough for it to react in any way. I really don't know what to say. Sauerkraut is fermented cabbage or it would not be what it is. I don't think u will get sick. People eat worse food than that or even aged yukky stuff and dont get sick. If u do, let us know but the mind can play tricks on us so u might feel a little ill just cause U think u will.
I don't think anyone has the answer as this was asked about 2 weeks ago and no one came up with a good answer.

I have never heard of that.

Your immune system should be on top of the bacteria.

Eat some garlic or onions or take some herbs like echinachea and pau d Arco if you feel like your body might need an extra helping hand.

Did you throw out your trash? I think I have that brand but a different fermented veggie. It's kind of pricey but I reasoned with the fact that it has a product guarentee on the back of the label if for whatever reason you are dissatisfied. Perhaps you can write them about what happened. Chances are they will tell you why it did that as well as refund your money. :o

I think it was just still fermenting.. which is a GOOD thing!

When I make it in my crock, I can hear it bubbling in the night when it's quiet.. talking to me! :D

Too bad if you tossed it!:eek:

I was under the impression that sauerkraut IS fermented.
