I finally figured it out! : Coconuts!!!

OK, so up untill about 2 seconds ago I thought that there were 3 "types" of coconuts:
1. Mature brown
2. Green shelled weird ones from who-knows-where
3. White yummy young "thai" coconuts - ya know, a breed from thailand!

Anyways, I just saw this:

which shows that the green ones are actually the young thai ones in disguise!!!!
I guess the cute pointed shape of the ones I buy is because they are pre-shelled for me, and sealed in plastic!
I SURE HOPE that I'm not the only one who thought that the young thai ones were just a totally different species of coconuts (and a magical addictive seductive kind, at that!)

Nope, you're not alone. Coconut varieties were a mystery to me!

Now if only there were an easier way to break into those young thai coconuts so we could get to the good part QUICKER! :)

I just take the white coconut, with a big cleaver, and use the pointy heal and give one good whack up midway between the point --> /\ part.

I hear a air escapy sound, I insert the tip of the knife, pry it open and bam, I've got coconut.

But I just do it a violent way. <3
