I've been lurking here for quite some time and decided it was time to jump in! I've been eating mostly raw since the birth of my fourth child 10 months ago. I just wanted to be as healthy as possible and decided not to put anything in my mouth that wouldn't benefit me. I've slipped here and there, but for the most part have stuck to it because the results are amazing! I was back in a size 4 within weeks, typically it would take me almost a year after having a baby to even start losing weight. And I think it's the best beauty plan in the world, your skin just glows! I love that people actually ask me what I'm doing. Not everyone is ready to jump on the raw wagon, but I have a few converts. I think the results speak for themselves. Looking forward to meeting everyone and learning more about raw!

Hey Lori! Welcome!

What part of Texas are you from? I am in the Austin area. I gave birth to #7 six months ago and had a similar experience. Like you, I took at least a year to even start losing weight. This time, I had the pregnancy weight off in two months and have lost 16 more since. Raw is amazing.

Sami~I'm in the Midland/Odessa area right now, though I may be moving to Houston soon. Austin is amazing, you are so lucky to be there. I used to live in the Dallas area and I am really missing all the food options you have in a larger city, so Houston sounds pretty exciting to me!

Thanks for the welcome:)

Welcome Welcome! Glad your here!:)
I'm over in Plano (suburb of Dallas for all you non-Texans).

That's awesome that the weight came off so easily after having your
last child. I wish I was raw when I had my kids. I'm hoping to get pregnant
with #3 this summer and to have a raw pregnancy.

Cool Faithfully Fit! If I go to Houston, I will be in the Tomball/Spring area. It's nice to know there will be likeminded people near by! How is the raw food scene there? Any good restaurants?

Punky, I love Plano! In fact my oldest child was born there. I miss the Dallas area so much. The shopping, the food, the energy there is just so good. If Houston doesnt pan out, I've asked my husband to try to transfer back to Dallas.

I am in Spring-Woodlands area!!!! Not much in the way of a RAW restaurant but there are 20 people signed up for the RAW potluck meet up in April!! I used to live in Dallas - my husband was transferred here almost 7 years ago,and I must say....I love Houston more. The trees and landscape are so beautiful here and it actually cools off at night with a breeze. We have a great organic food coop, an HEB Central Market and Wild Oats expected within the year:D You will love the energy here too!

Have a GREAT day!

Faithfully Fit~ It's so nice to hear something good about Houston! I've only been hearing negatives: too much humidity, lots of bugs, high crime. I've actually never been so I'm glad to hear that it's got good energy!:)

Also, coincidentally my 7 yr old daughter was born at Plano Presbyterian. Small world.

Hi Melissa,
You'd be amazed how much the North Dallas suburbs are growing. It's crazy.
I can't believe it sometimes. Frisco, Allen and McKinney were such small towns when
I was growing up. I've been here forever though, and graduated
from Plano West back in '89 (I feel so dated), Ha!

You are lucky your best friend is a raw foodest too. None of my friends are, although my best bud is very very raw curious and always wants to try my raw foods.

I haven't spent that much time in Houston, but I think it would be cool to live
closer to the beach :)

Also, coincidentally my 7 yr old daughter was born at Plano Presbyterian. Small world.

My 7 yr. old niece was born at Presby too.:p
My oldest son, who's 10 at Plano Medical (Coit & 15th) and
my 6 yr. old at a Birth Center in Dallas, although we lived in Plano
at the time.

Browneyedgirl, did you go to H.S. here too?

No, Punky, I graduated from Permian in Odessa. I lived in Lewisville from 1997-2000. I loved the Dallas area, I spent a lot of time in Plano, especially at Whole Foods, I miss that so much! You are so right about that area growing, we went back for a visit not too long ago and I hardly recognized it.

To everyone else~ Thank you for the warm welcome, I dont know what took me so long! :)

I'm from new york state and now live in Texas - sounds like we just traded places. Where are you in NY? I'm from a small town between Binghamton and Elmira. I left in 1992 to go to college down here and never moved back. I live in McKinney TX (30 miles north of Dallas). I love it here - the weather, the economy, the people, the schools - awesome. I do miss the NY falls, though - the trees are so beautiful. And, I miss the mountains.
