So my spiral slicer should be here today. Just ordered it Friday from Alissa's Store, and I am so very excited.
So what you folks making out there with this kitchen tool?
I plan to do sweet potatoe/ yam chips and definately zuchini pasta.
But what are the other creative and flavorful options?

Beets made into the Angel hair cut make an attractive presentation.
I love my spiral slicer.
I like using several different veggies to make 'pasta' as its good to have different textures.
Most of the root veggies work well, especially carrot.
Have fun!

I cant get mine to work :(
The pasta is 'scored' but not cut thru (and I am literally STANDING on the thing) and it takes me forever to split them apart. What am I missing?
I got peeved and made my mom order me the world cuisine spiral slicer...hopefully it will work better.

Probably didn't cut far enough into it. You should go (lengthwise) to about the middle of the veggie (right where the "core" begins)...should work out then.

Sorry Rawk but I don't get it. The instructions say to cut a flat end at both sides and sit it on the center point and then push the top thingy down and then sprial away (with downwards pressure). They didn't say to cut anywhere...is that all I'm doing wrong?? Man will I ever feel like a dope - now I have 2 slicers lol.

What were you attempting to make? Angel hair or slices?
When you said it was "scored" and it took forever to split them apart, I assumed you were trying to make flat chips/slices of some sort. If you are trying to make the angel hair (whether pasta or whatever) then you don't need to cut into it like that - but if you are trying to make thin slices, then you DO need to cut into it. I'll try and see if I can post pics in a bit.

I was trying to make angel hair. It slices into the ribbons easily enough, but the little teeth part that are supposed to slice the Zuch into the skinny noodles just don't seem to cut thru the thickness of the ribbon. i get the odd good noodle but i hve to pull it apart from the rest...too time consuming!

LOL! Okay now you REALLY got me confuzzled!
So, you are taking the zucchini, cut the ends off, (possibly cutting it in half since a full-length, long zuke won't fit into the slicer properly) and then with the teeth side up, spiralizing the zuke? OR...(from what it sounds like from your description above) are you making the ribbons first (with that flat blade) and THEN trying to spiralize THAT into noodles?
I don't quite understand from what you said about "ribbons".

ORRRR...it sounds like as you're cranking it, the little lever is being switched up on ya. I've had that happen to me a few times...I'll set it on one thing, but it then ends up flipping (probably from my hand that holds the container) to the other side.
That's probably what's happening. So, if you notice that you are getting ribbons when you should be getting "shreds", then check the little lever thingy and make sure it's where it should be.

lol nope - none of the above. The lever is where is should be and I'm positioning the zuch exactly as you said. Grr...user error? I tried it peeled and unpeeled...neither differed. I wonder if the teeth on the thingy bar are too short?

Wow...well, I guess there is the possibility that you got a defective slicer. I don't know...I usually always get nice strands with mine. Well, hopefully you'll have better success with your new one! :)

Radishes look so beautiful with a white center and outlined in red. Looks very floral and fluffy.
Best,
Hi Damzlfly,
I could not get my slicer to work at first, I was very disappointed. Thought it was a waste of money!
You may have a defect, however, mine had been assembled incorrectly.
It may be worth checking that the 'switch' is the right way around.
A simple mistake easily missed.
There is a web site that shows in detail how to assemble and use the slicer.
Thats how i found out how to rectify the problem. I just 'googled' to find it
Good luck

I "might" work on cukes, but they are so much more "wet and seedy" in the middle than zukes. But I've spiralized yams INSTEAD OF zucchini for the pasta and sauce and it was ON! My daughter liked it, a good friend of mine was here visiting and she liked it...just spiralize, rinse 'em a bit to get most of the starch off, drain and top with your favorite sauce recipe!

Oh my, when mine arrived a couple of weeks ago I thought I had a faulty one. I tried to use it and ruined the look of about 4 zucchini's in the process.....ahem...
I finally had to watch Alissa and Leslie Bega on Green-chefs to find out that I was doing it wrong :o
I do agree that you may have a faulty one but as people have said it may just not be assembled right.

OK getting off line to go try it on one yam
maybe I'll top it with EVOO and Nutritional Yeast or Cinnamon
or better yet an avacado dressing
Hmmmm
