Hopefully someone can help.... i love seaweed salad. I thought i bought wakame from a asian store the other day but it tastes yucky. I soaked it and added nama soya and some ginger but its just not happening. Any ideas on how to make this tolerable? Mock tuna salad is the only solution i have come up with so far.

You say you "thought" you bought wakame. What did you purchase? Wakame is not really edible to me ~ too tough. I use to put it only as a flavoring for miso soup and then toss it. Arame and hijiki are good for salads imo.

I was told the best to buy to eat was wakame by the person working at the market but they werent very nice so maybe they didnt understand my question. i just love seaweed salad that i used to get at sushi restaurants but i know that it is not 100% raw there so i wanted to try to recreate it.

Correction: Kombu is the one I used in miso soups.
Personally I like dulse, kelp, arame, wakame and hijiki. I just tasted the wakame and it's quite salty yet, good as a substitute for those who like salty popcorn.

This was satisfying:
Soak Sea vegetable for 10 minutes, rinse, add some lemon and eat

Kombu is not my favorite for soups but wakame sure.
Oh, I love dulse...the reddish kind. I add it to salads.

What about making some sort of spa product out of it. Like a body wrap or scrub. Just to prevent waste:)

I purchased some and i don't like it at all.
Need some ideas for using it up. I hate to waste anything but this doesn't taste good at all:(

I think i may chop it up and use it with shredded carrots for a tuna like salad.
I won't buy it again.
