View Full Version : Can you freeze young coconuts?

I can't get young coconuts here (not even in the Asian Market) unless I order them in. If I order a couple at a time, they're $2.99 each, if I order a case of 9 it's $21.00 ($2.33 each). So, there's no way I'm paying $3.00 each so I'm wondering if I buy a case, and don't know if I'm only going to use them all right away if I can freeze them as is? Or will it alter the texture of the meat, etc?

Thanks for any input. :)

When I was in Calgary, I must have bought like 20 of them as we don't get young coconut here. I scooped the flesh out and blended it with the coconut water and froze it in 2 cup containers, ready to be used for soups or whatever. I also froze some of the meat and water separately (for recipes which call for a specific ratio of meat to water) and that, too, worked out good.

Don't know though about freezing the whole thing...
