I am ready. I just cannot see going back to cooked foods and i do need a chance for my psoriasis to clear up. Being sick and trying to get over it is taking a toll on it so it is not looking so good these day. I know this will work and not only that but I feel so much better.
I have nothing to lose and a lot to gain.:D

Hi, I am new here but I would like to get in on this challenge. I have been vegan for a year now but I want to go all raw. I am willing to give it a shot.

I am a 53 year old woman and I love to lift weights and have been for about 15 years or so. I presently weigh 144 lbs and want to get down to about 125 to 120 lbs.

I do mostly raw right now, about 80%. I love to juice. The only thing I really miss on raw is rice but I can do it for a month and then take it from there. :D http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o293/belleadonna/cid_002b01c16006f5f61520a804260cJOY.gif

There are some 'mock rice' recipes on here, if you want you can use the Banana "Search" button and probably find them!

Thanks. I have been a rice addict since I was a kid but I will get over it. To me, nothing substitutes for rice. I am beginning to think that I was adopted and one of my parents was Asian.

Actually, I've been waiting for this thread to officially show up :D. I definitely am in. I had a rocky start but so far I am 100% raw 5 days and I'm loving it. But it's important for me to get support and to commit for a length of time. So far I've been taking it one day at a time and it's worked so I'm hoping a challenge will allow me to commit further.

If I remember correctly, aren't there rules in regards to posting menus, etc? If so, can someone post the link to that thread? I may be totally off, though!

I am so in this month, April is it! And to add to my enthusiasm, my dear hubby says he will do the 30 days with me too. I am thrilled!!

To have his support much less having someone to do this with at home will make a big difference for me to make it through the month. We will keep it pretty simple, he hasn't really liked any of the main dishes I've made through the past few years and I really haven't either.

So lots of fruit, salads, smoothies, juices, and some other things we both enjoy and there are a few raw desserts he enjoys.

This will be a great month and I am very excited for this challenge!

To help us out this month, especially keeping hubby on track we just went this evening and bought an Elliptical to go along with our Treadmill. Now we can exercise side by side in the evenings. Hubby would like to get 1 hour of exercise in each day, I am so proud of him! I already exercise daily and love it, so this will be great for him.

Fun!

The challenge is to eat only raw food for 30 days. :)

tammay
03-26-2007, 05:43 PM
OK, for those of us who have never done this...

I did a search and found this post from Rawkinlocs:

Basically, Alissa started the 30-day raw challenge to encourage people to give the raw and living foods "diet" a chance - just for 30 days, to see how it impacts their lives. As Lucy said, eat raw plant foods (fruit, veggies, nuts, seeds, sprouted grains either in whole form or combined to make delicious recipes)

So, you make a committment, for only 30-days, to see how your health, weight, energy levels, etc. improve or just how good you feel and decide from there if you want this to become a permanent lifestyle change or not. The blogging area is to journal and document what you eat each day, how you feel and then at the end, you can see what changes have taken place from the start to the end of the 30 days. It is also recommended that you take a before picture and then an after picture to see differences in size, fullness of the face, brightness of the eyes, etc.

But I agree with Lucy, if you don't already have it, I highly recommend getting Alissa's book if you don't have it as it has a LOT of information (not just recipes, although there are over 200 of them) on getting started and how to maintain the raw life. Plus, it has been said that it takes 30 days to establish a habit, so...

A quote from her book:

100% For 30 Days
"Again, you're not like everybody else, and so you may very well experience different changes in your body at times different from other people. This is why I ask you: please make a 30-day commitment to follow this diet 100%. By the end of 30 days, you will have experienced significant - if not life-changing results!"

I do have the book and keep meaning to reread it but I get sidetracked by other raw food books!

Oh I'm so excited! I kind of planned on starting a few days early, just to get a jump in, but then yesterday, I had this stir fry in my fridge that I just couldn't waste, because I just can't justify wasting food! But no matter, today and All of April I am 100 % raw!!!!
P.S. I am kind of disappointed, I was going to see if my library had Alissa's book because I have heard so many great things about but sadly have yet to read it. :( And THEY DON'T HAVE IT! Ugh. Looks like a trip to the local bookstore for me huh?

11 days ago was the first time I was in the ER. I was severely dehydrated due to not drinking enough fluids. I tried to get in fluids on my own...but chlorinated water is naaasssttty! I was given sodium chloride via IV.

Today was the second ER visit. My tooth and the gum around it became inflamed to the point of pain. I was told that there's an infection in my gums...and that the tooth needs to extracted, so they can get the infection out.

They put me on antibiotics and a combination painkiller pill (Vicodin and Acetaminophen). I tried natural remedies....and they didn't work...

All of these problems...because of SAD:eek:.

and I'm in the zone. On my way to the gym soon for an oficial weigh in 45 min of cardio and a glimpse at some free cable.

Can I jump in on April 2? The first is my birthday, can I have one last hurrah before I start? I guess that would be a 29 day challenge. But I will stick with it, I promise! I asked for raw cook books and a mandoline slicer for my birthday, my DH is like "this is the most boring birthday list I have ever seen!" So starting this challenge on the 2nd will be great!

Hi SeaRose -- I've never done a challenge on this Forum (just on exercise forums) but I imagine you post daily if possible and let us know your progress with being raw all through April. If you want to post what you eat, that would be fun (and inspiring to others) -- but if you don't have time for that and just want to tell of your progress, that would be great too.

Just jumping in to say that I'm in for this April Challenge too. Three of my children have birthdays (and yes, big parties) in this next week, so I'll be avoiding all sorts of foods. They don't eat raw, but I do by healthier cooked foods than the SAD way, but on birthdays, they do get their cake and ice cream, pizza, etc. So I'll just be eating my smoothies while they're into the other.

I'm actually not fearing the birthdays -- I'm used to passing that stuff up. I'm more nervous about when we travel to see my dh's relatives for Easter. I'll have to make a lot of raw food before I go and shop while there (and hope not to offend when I don't eat much of the Easter dinner).

Hey. A lot of us made it through March so we can make it this month also. Just like getting rid of any bad habit after a month it should be much easier. Yea right. I find myself pacing when I smell something Sad and checking the frig. It is not all Sad food. Just the ones I love but feel it should be easier dont u think?
I was discouraged last month with my weight loss but after getting on scale this morn.....(still not under 200) I find that i have lost close to 6#s and that is much better than gaining or staying the same. I just had that goal to be 199 and I guess one should not do that.
I am starting to do Smoothies today like Val does. I will check my weight doing it and see if I can lose faster. I might also feel better although I feel pretty good now and if i get any more energy I will be sore all the time as my poor ole body cannot handle all the physical work I do.
Lets all get this right this month. :D

Good morning all. To anyone who doesn’t already know me from this board, my name is Valerie. I’ve been 100% raw since March 1st and since March 5th the only thing I’ve been eating is green smoothies. I’ve lost 34 pounds and gotten complete relief from chronic IBS symptoms. I checked in every day on the Magnificent March thread and found it very helpful to have that accountability. So I’ll be doing the same on the Amazing April thread. Posting my green smoothie recipes and additional tidbits about my progress. I look forward to continuing to support my on-line friends from last month as well as meeting some new friends this month. Best wishes to everyone in your Amazing April journey!

I’ve decided to give my savory green smoothie recipe a name. Cilantro Slurry.

Yesterday’s 3 quart ‘Cilantro Slurry’ Green Smoothie Recipe:
340 grams organic? Romaine Lettuce
190 grams organic Kale
521 grams frozen mango
136 grams frozen blueberries
58 grams frozen cranberries
57 grams fresh organic lime juice
22 grams flax seeds
173 grams onion
49 grams garlic
31 grams ginger root chunks
29 grams cilantro
157 grams celery
18 grams jalapeno
48 ounces filtered tap water

I had an additional 32+ ounces of water and 2 Rolaids & 6 Enzymedica Acid Soothe capsules.. No other food, beverages, supplements, or medications.

You know Val, I think I'm going to join you on only green smoothies once I've finished my produce. You're doing amazing with it. And green smoothies always fill me up so I doubt I'll get hungry. I might try it for a week or so and see how it goes.

April is going to be a good month for me, I can feel it. I'm used to eating like this now, I know what I like and how to tweak recipes and I'll have a dehydrator. I said that my goal was to eat less fat but it's also to have no slip ups. I'm still getting cravings for cooked food. Besides my odd craving for ramen I only want healthy things like oatmeal. So i ordered some oat groats to make oatmeal cookies.

Food so far today
Breakfast- Tangerine and banana

I was about 99% raw for the last week and a half (the 1% being a few bites of cooked food daily when feeding my kids). Yesterday my mom wanted to go out to lunch to Applebees- they don't even have anything vegetarian on the menu! Now I know I could have made a better choice but I decided to get Nachos minus the meat. They didn't taste that great but I ate them and started feeling yucky within an hour. Then last night I was sitting here and realized that today was the first and I wanted to do the challenge and since I already failed the day I should go to the store and buy my favorite binge foods and pig out.  So I did. I only ate a quarter of what I normally would have as none of it tasted very good! And then I spent a good portion of the night in the bathroom and this morning I still feel like CRAP!!! All of this to say-I LOVE RAW! I don't think I will have any problem with the 30 day challenge. Well I take that back as the SAD food I bought is calling me right now but I don't want to feel that sick anymore so I can ignore its call. WE CAN DO THIS!!

Rawzula

I've been mostly raw towards the end of March. Being sick, I ate very little SAD. I just didn't have much of an appetite.

So far, I've only had an orange. Not really hungry right now. I am SOOOO tempted to eat SAD...but after being sick for all of March, I don't want a repeat performance (if you know what I mean).

Maybe I'll eat something later on...:D.

I am definitely in for April!!! I will be continuing with a focus on juice and smoothies, but will eat RAW, if/when I feel like it. :p

I am very excited about doing the challenge. I have not been all Raw for 30 days in a row for a long time. It will be interesting, I am sure..and after my recent fasting, it will be nice to begin to explore the raw recipes again and also just simple RAW eating. :D

Have a Great Day, everybody!!!!

btw..so far I have had juice of two deliciously sweet, red grapefruits and some yummy lime mineral water...

I am commenting here for two reasons: 1) I am not always successful in posting comments correctly to blogs - they disappear into cyberspace: 2) I want to encourage others in the RFT fam to visit your excellent online diary.

You totally RAWKKKKKK! You have profoundly inspired me to consume green smoothies and it's making a huge difference in how I feel - now imagine that x a raw month of April!

I appreciate all your great suggestions. From your sharing of experiences, I've learned about those great (Evert) storage bags, "Fit" for glitzing up my raw presentations and the great travel mugs for smoothies. Most of all, your positive outlook and willingness to do new things deeply encourages me - especially on those days where I am considering to quit and pivot back to SAD eating.

Thanks Valerie - keep doing what you do and thrive!
Hugs,
RC (aka Jean)

What perfect timing! I decided 2 days ago that if I really want to lose weight and feel great in time for a Disneyland vacation in June I need to go raw. I've been trying for 3 years but always succumb to SAD junk food. I promised myself that I would do 30 days raw for the month of April and if I didn't see significant changes then I'd go less strict. I think the social aspect will be toughest but I can do 30 days.

To be honest I really hate spending time in the kitchen on cooking or food prep. I also hate salads without ranch dressing although Alissa's raw caesar is pretty yummy. I've decided to focus on green smoothies to get my greens and food quantity in. I also plan to have lots of chopped veggies to snack on during the day - jicama, red peppers, cherry tomatoes, cukes, etc. Nuts and nut milk/smoothies for variety. And raw desserts for when I'm feeling whiney. LOL.

My 40th birthday is in July so I really want to look and feel GREAT!

Thanks for starting this challenge!

Also wanted to add that I plan on committing to 30 days of consistent T-Tapping. I think that between raw and tapping I will see positive changes at the end of April!

Went to church earlier and then went to my favorite fruit and veggie market, got all my goods, waited in line and realized I had no wallet on me. So needless to say they wouldn’t take a check without a liscense and I went home empty handed and frustrated. I also didn’t get to go out to eat with the hubby cause I was so panicked and had to go home to try to find it. Anyway luckily I had my grawnola in dehydrating and it was done and I ate that. It was yummy. It is a beautiful day here in Michigan. I hope to get out and enjoy some of the weather.

I told Val i was going to do nothing but Smoothies for the whole month but I find it hard to not nibble on other raw foods that is allowed. I think instead I will limit my intake of nuts, not give them up but do up a certain amount per week and when it is gone i go without. I read Alissas posting and she says to not give up anything that is Raw. If u limit yourself then u will go off this healthy way of eating.
I have had two big green smoothies so far today but had to cut up a pineapple and nibbled on a little along with the mango i cut up and the radishes. All healthy food....well almost. I cannot find organic. Even the organic apples that the one store carried it no longer has. I do the best I can.
I am not going to set any goals for weight loss monthly. That is to stressful. I will lose it when I lose it. I know if i keep on eating this way it will all go.
So just wanted to post about my not being able to do nothing but smoothies. If i lived alone i think it would be easier but having a family that eats Sad makes me want to eat my foods and I need the crunch. I will still do 3 a day but prob nibble inbetween.
Good luck all. I only lost 6#s last month but lost a couple of inches in my waist. Is the only measurement I took. That is a big plus.
Looking better.:D

The weather was nice today so I did some rollerblading and pushed my daughter in the jogging stroller (who is 4). Pretty soon she will be too big for it, but I may be able to squeeze in another summer with it. Foods eaten today so far:

raw grawnola
3 vegtable nori rolls (leftover from last night's feast)
raw nori/flax crackers with hummus

Don't know if I will be eating anymore. I guess I will if I get hungry.

DH and I are doing great today, right now we are both eating huge salads. I love having him on board with me this month. So much support for both of us and no one else in the house eating cooked foods I think will really help me be successful this month. We also recorded our weight this morning and measurements to compare at the end of the month.

For me today...
banana, strawberries, grapes
almonds and raisins
Crunch bar
banana
large green salad
not sure about this evening-dessert?!

[SIZE=1][FONT=Comic Sans MS][SIZE=4][COLOR=sienna]Good morning all. To anyone who doesn’t already know me from this board, my name is Valerie. I’ve been 100% raw since March 1st and since March 5th the only thing I’ve been eating is green smoothies.

Valerie, kudos on the green smoothies. I tried incorporating green smoothies but just the thought of "drinking" my veggies made them unappealing, no matter how much fruit I put to disguise them :p . I guess I'll have to wait until I'm more used to raw to try those again.

I'm also getting a late start posting on the first day of the challenge because I've been hammering away at work all day (grading papers - not fun!) but I am definitely in. I was doing great for a week, then binged for 2 days before the challenge  but now I'm all set to do 30 days raw, as I love the simplicity of it and never felt better.

Some of my goals for this challenge:
- to be less "rigid" about my eating habits - i.e., not plan all the time what to eat and when to eat it - I do have a list of meals that I like that is growing but I want to chose from there what I feel like rather than dictate what I'll make
- To eat when I feel hungry! This may sound like a "well, duh" one but to those of us who have had issues with eating disorders, it's not so simple. I eat mini meals which helps me not to feel hungry but I also want to be flexible so that if I don't feel like a "meal" but want something, I can grab a piece of fruit or some carrots.
- To work on not turning to food for emotional issues. That's the big thing that led to my binging these last 2 days - frustration with my students. I'm going back to some of the intuitive eating books I have and also a workbook on food and feelings that is supposed to help
- To work on balancing all areas of my life and not just food. I am good at taking walks but I've gotten lazy about doing yoga the last few weeks. I want to get back to doing that.
- To stay motivated with raw by reading, reading, reading! Also trying out new recipes :p.

I'll be posting my menus and progress in my blog (link below) every day for the challenge so anyone is welcome to view and comment!

Also wanted to post my starting weight, though I am determined not to weigh myself during the challenge, as I don't want to make this an issue of weight loss: 138.5. I could stand to lose about 15-20 pounds.

My day went well, I suppose. After spending March bingeing my brains out, I found myself constantly reaching for more food today. Oh well, as long as it's raw I am not too worried. By the end of this week my stomach will have shrunk back to it's normal size.
Hope everyone had a lovely day. Unfortunately it was raining here in Kingston but that didn't stop me from going on a walk. I actually really don't mind the rain!:p

GREAT food day today - just too much of it this weekend!! Went to my fav raw restaurant for brunch today. Heres the menu:

large glass of coconut milk
Almond milk smoothie
walnut/pear pancakes with agave, a salad and 1/2 bagel with almond butter and banana...SO GOOD!!
couple pieces of raw matzo with almond butter
couple apple slices (split with my sweetie)
veggies with mock cheddar cheese
alissa's potato salad
leftover nori roll slices (3)
and banana/raspberry ice cream (again split with my sweetie)

FAR too much food. I was going to weigh myself this morning but nope, not until tomorrow lol

Happy Monday!

I didn't get a chance to check in but regardless of the fact, I am happy to be embracing this raw journey. I am doing a cleanse all week and I will basically be eating only fruit juice combinations Monday - Friday. Oh yeah, today is the last day I can have some type of veggie... mmm, I think it will be veggie tacos (romainne lettuce leaf filled with guacamole and a spicy salsa. This is the deal for today:

6:00 a.m. two gala apples
9:00 a.m. two fiji apples
12:00 n - veggie tacos
4:00 cleansing enzymes
5:00 watermelon

Now I am going to go ahead and post for Tuesday - Saturday: It will be a combination of freshly juiced juices every 3 hours: appple, apple pear, etc.
I'll still be checking in every day though just to say hey and when Saturday comes - YIPPEE!!! I am going to prepare some lasagna, and some pizza for my sister and I. I'll also prepare a nice big salad for us. This will be for our Sunday dinner on Easter- when everyone else is around us eating huge amounts of SAD food. We may even prepare some breadsticks and I am going to try to shoot for a dessert - the candy recipe posted on here a while back.

Well, I guess I should speed it up (need to be on the highway)

I forgot to mention; I don't know if anyone remembers (Saturday) me saying that we should all celebrate March 31st. I said I was going to celebrate by buying some oils but I decided to add on - I bought a much needed new car. I bought an 06 Sonata. It was a great blesssing. I was able to walk onto that car lot and walk off -with no money down- and drive away into the sunset.

Lavendarj....did u pay for the car? The way u wrote it it sounded like u just walked on the lot. got in the car and off u went. I am just kidding but u gave me a chuckle.
I didnt treat myself due to that one slip of pickles. It counts as a slip no matter how u put it. I love dill pickles and would make some if there was anyplace around to even buy decent ones so i could make raw ones. I am finding less organic or even good nonorganic veggies as the winter continues.
I have a greenhouse so I am hopeing by next winter I will have everything ready to grow all my own produce through the winter. It is a small one but should be doable.
I mentioned yesterday that I was going to do all smoothies like Val but just cannot. I ate good though. If i did nibble it was on raw carrots, radishes, celery and a few nuts. That is the important thing. I was eating nuts all day long and now I am only going to do maybe a small handful at the most.
I will still do smoothies. I made a mistake last night and put dry lentils in my smoothie. Val puts them in her but they must be soaked cause my dry ones were still dry when I tried to drink it. teehee.
Tammay...green smoothies r great tasting. U have to find a combination of things to make it taste good. What one might find tasty might not for others. I can no longer do garlic. Love it but it taste bitter to me now so i leave that out of every recipe but manage to always put something in to make it taste good.
Keep up the faith all. We can do this to be healthy.:D

Yesterday went well. I just ate a lot of fruit and salads. Today I'll have a green smoothie for breakfast. I'm going to the store today. I want to try jicama fries but I don't know if I've ever even seen a jicama. I had to google it to see what it looked like. That's the fun thing about raw. Instead of having a limited diet I'm discovering all sorts of new foods and recipe ideas that I would never had thought to try. Like who new zucchini hummus taste just like regular hummus. Actually I think it tastes better.

Hope everyone has a great Monday.

So far I've had a grapefruit. Lunch is alissa's avacodo kale salad and dinner will be more of the potato salad. Snacks I brought to work and am not sure if I'm going to eat are: 1 green apple and a handful of sugar snap peas...yummy...plus I have to do the WFM and the HFS at lunch for groceries so I might snack on some nuts, cause I have to buy some. I am trying to reduce the amount of nuts I eat, I think I've been eating too many personally. Oh but I'm going to make a whackload of desserts this week (date nut torte, strawberry crepes, blonde fudge, ice cream) cause I seriously missed sugar over the last month and my cleanse is OVER! woo hoo!

I made an absolutely delish parfait for me and my sweetie this weekend

Coconut Custard

meat of 3 young coconuts
1/8 cup coconut water
1" piece vanilla bean
1/4 tsp cinnamon

Blend the hell out of it until its nice and creamy

I scooped some into the bottom of 2 wine glasses, then a layer of wild blueberries (frozen), then another layer of custard, then a layer of frozen raspberries. SOOO good.

I also made banana/raspberry ice cream last night. I am so impressed with my juicer! I only had to do 2 run thrus and the second was only to blend the raspberries sorbet with the banana...sooo good.

HELP!!

please, first time I need your help in this challenge!!!:o

I just recieved a very sweet (actually this is to take word by word;) ) easterpresent from my daddy. He sent me some (expensive) chocolate pralines and peppermint-pastilles!!!

What would you do now?? I DEFENITELY dont want to eat them!! Right now I eat my carottestics with avo-dip and feel soooooooooooooooooo strong and no carving at all!!!

BUT!! I know that when I am down, stressed, despaird, paniked or whatever next time, those pralines would be the first thing to get down my throat:( followed by HUUUUUUUUUUUUGE amounts of falaffel, french fries, pizza, icecream, chocolate...

 Should I waste them now...? I feel bad doing that, but it would still be better then eating them.. i would give them to a friend... but we won't meet before thursday/friday and it could happen so much ...

I KNOW THIS SOUNDS SILLY!!! but WHAT would YOU do now??

Lavendar: Congrats on the new car!! Have you named it?

Good morning all. Feeling nice and inspired. And happy that I have nacho cheese and taco "meat" at home to last for a few days. I guess I should do more food prep on Sundays like I used to.

Have a great day everyone!

Hello Everyone,
Today is Day 2 and I'm still 100% raw. My challenge for my first day in April was a wedding. There was not one raw food in sight. I was able to have a glass of orange juice and a few sips of champagne. I did very well. I guess it was because I had been raw 31 days in March, I no longer crave cooked food. I didn't even lust over wedding cake. After getting home, I made some Veggie sushi.

1 Nori sheets
1/2 sliced avocado
julienne sliced carrots
A layer of lentil sprouts

I usually make one, enjoy, and then make another for a second helping.
Mmmm:)

My Stats
1/4/07 174lbs my highest weight. Went on a couple of water fasts.
2/9/07 161lbs Started Master Cleanse
2/26/07 150lbs Completed 17 day Master Cleanse
3/1/07 149lbs Day 1 post Master Cleanse.

3/31/07 151lbs Day 31 post Master Cleanse and eating 100% raw food.

An Amazing April 30 Day Challenge!!!!

It's been a while since I've been frequent on the board (I love the new look) and I really need to get involved again.
I plan to post in my blog but if anyone wants to be e-mail buddies with me my e-mail is raeannag@gmail.com
Also, if anyone from the Nashville Raw Food meetup could e-mail me of any dates I'd appreciate it!! My computer at work blocks the meetup.com website and we don't have internet at home anymore!!!
Looking forward to meeting some goals this month!!! :)

Tried on my tennis shoes for the first time in many many months and they fit because the swelling is down in my feet. While I was walking around in the house in them I noticed that my back pain is almost non-existent. This happened suddenly around the 30 day raw mark last September. I fell off raw shortly thereafter and the pain returned.

This is significant for me as no matter what I do I try to limit the amount of time I have to walk or stand because the longer I walk or stand the more my back hurts. So, for example, I have a chair in the kitchen because to stand up for the 30 minutes it takes to make smoothies and clean up the mess would have me in excruciating back pain. So I just stood around in my living room for about five minutes waiting for the back pain to start up and it never did. Actually I noticed other types of pain in my hips, calves, & knees, but not my back. I find it amazing that raw food could make that much difference in my back pain. I believe it has something to do with reducing inflammation. I also noted that I’m able to stand up straighter. I usually tend to bend forward slightly because it reduced my back pain.

So with the combination of reduced back pain and being able to get my shoes back on again I’m thinking I’m gonna be able to start walking for exercise fairly soon. No rush though.

Yesterday’s 3 quart Green Smoothie Recipes:

Two quarts Cilantro Slurry:
234 grams organic? Romaine Lettuce
54 grams organic Kale
268 grams frozen mango
85 grams frozen blueberries
22 grams frozen cranberries
32 grams fresh organic lime juice
21 grams garlic
10 grams ginger root chunks
30 grams cilantro
111 grams celery
23 grams jalapeno
122 grams avocado
32 oz filtered tap water

Note: This was very spicy!

One quart sweet green smoothie:
159 grams Romaine Lettuce
118 grams fresh banana
233 grams frozen mango
16 oz filtered tap water

I had an additional 32+ ounces of water and 4 Rolaids & 6 Enzymedica Acid Soothe capsules. No other food, beverages, supplements, or medications.

Not to worry Puffymom,
Just eat raw food and you’ll do great.

challenge day 2:

b= grapes & watermelon and green tea w/ agave

i may have more grapes & a banana -- but no big meal until tonight. we're going to my mom's for passover. i hope/plan to stay raw -- but don't want to insult my mom by not eating her food. i haven't shared my raw-ness yet -- don't want any negative opinions/feedback.

my family is weird -- overly focused on appearance, but think it should happen magically (not really tolerant of specific diets).

wish me luck & strength!

If you know deep on the inside that eating 1 will lead to 2 and then ........ the whole container then perhaps, you might give them away to a few friends. That's the only thing I can think of right now - if you didn't want to feel like you were wasting them.

I did name the car. I named her Binga in honor of the delicious bing cherry. That is her color - just like a bing chery (the paperwork list her color as ruby but my sister calls her a burgundy).

I guess my 30 days will have to run into May 1....because yesterday was not a raw day...

today, however, is.. ;) except for a little pedialyte

So far I have had juice of two grapefruits
2 bananas
about 1.5 cups strawberries
almond butter mixed with maple syrup
a pickle

I am also going to make some cheddar sauce and broccoli for my dinner.
I am so excited, "American Experience" tonight is about Aimee Semple McPherson, this early 20th century pentecostalist/revivalist/show-woman. I am glad I will have something yummy and Raw to eat while I watch it..lol..

I was craving grapefruit today, perhaps because I am still sick, and they were yummy :) I also made these walnut patty type things, it was ok. I seasoned it with non raw seasonings though which made me feel a little guilty. So I didn't eat to much of it. But I might save them for when I am craving cooked because I think they will be good for that. I am hungry still, even tho its night time here, but I think sleep is what my body needs more then anything. Besides the seasoning I was all raw on day two! Awesome.

Its nice to see that pain can be relieved going raw. I have lived with back pain for a while now. It would be nice to see what its like without it.

I'm starting my challeng today, because I didn't eat all raw yesterday. I should do pretty good. I'm trying to eliminate coffee and alcohol from my system as well. I'm not too worried about the alcohol, but I'm going to miss my coffee!

So far today, I had:

1 10 oz. bottle acai juice
1 15.2 Naked Well Being Smoothie
1 grapefruit
1 small salad with spring mix, red onions, tomatoes, mushrooms, avocado and balsamic vinegrette.

Not sure what I'm going to do for dinner yet. Maybe I'll make some mashed "potatoes". :)

Hi all,
Great to see so many people participating in this challenge and posting menus - great inspiration.

I'm doing great, a bit tired though. Woke up with a headache, probably detox, but all in all, a "light" detox so far, considering my 2 day binge.

Posted yesterday's menu and other updates on my blog :D.

Curious - I noticed some people have posted they drink green tea. If I drink it cold and don't soak the tea bag in boiling water, is this considered raw?

Also, I read somewhere that if you heat/cook something on the burner of a coffee machine, it's under 106 degrees. Anyone know if that's true (I guess I should just get a meat thermometer and test it, huh?)

I started my dinner by dipping some jicama slices into the nacho cheese I made yesterday. So so so good! I didn't want another jicama so I ended up dipping all sort of veggies in the sauce...but jicama was definately the best.

Food today:
raw nori crackers (store bought)
banana
salad w/half avocado
red bartlet pear - never had one before...it was delicious
some mango slices
jicama, cucumber, celery, carrot dipped in alissa's nacho cheese
3 raw truffles

I am going to go make some yam chips now to have for the rest of the week.

Okay, thought I'd check in for day 2. Yesterday went well all raw. I'd been up most of the night before with a sick son. That combined with all raw made me one tired lady last night. I slept pretty good although I had dreams of school/classes. Since I'm not in school and haven't been for years it was quite humorous.

I decided to skip my green smoothie this morning as I usually include an orange and I've got a canker sore right now. I had cantaloupe, grapes, a handful of pine nuts, and a carob shake today. This evening I just made an apple/berry/chard smoothie. I doubt I'll eat anything else after I finish this as it's 6:30 pm.

I wasn't very active today although I did get in 20 mins of exercise. Mostly I spent the day reading up on this website and looking at recipes/photos. I am trying to kick the sedentary habit (too much couch potato) but I'm being a little easy on myself this first raw week. Can't wait for the energy rush to kick in. :D

Cheers to everyone on their challenge! ~Megan

We are still doing great here on day 2. I am so proud of DH! He is eating mostly crunchy veggies for snacks and we are making sure he eats enough to feel full. That is the hardest part for him, feeling full enough so he doesn't reach for something SAD.

large green salad
nibbled on grapes, tomatoes, nuts
parsnip rice and peas
corn chips and salsa
truffle
fudge

Well I screwed up yesterday so today was my day 1. I did well all morning but really got the munchies this afternoon. I decided I would let myself eat as much as I wanted as long as it was raw. I longed to have some of the kids cooked food but I didn't I made it through the day on raw. I really have alot of weight to lose and was somewhat restricting myself last week and that didn't work out so well- so if I have to overeat on raw for a little while I guess that is what I will do. Overeating is bad but it is better to overeat on raw then on cooked right? Congrats to everyone else for having a great 2nd day!

Well I decided to post before the long drive home from work. Today was a busy day. Earlier today I had to fill out the monthly bills. I hate, hate this time of the month! Good thing I only pay them once a month. Anyway then I had to work. Yesterday I was good until I took my 4 year old to the movie and then I had to have a few handfuls of her kiddie popcorn. I am also at a plateau it seems. Don't know why, it is frustrating. Anyway today was a more successful day. Foods eaten:

raw grawnola
large garden salad
trailmix of nuts, seeds and raisens
greentea/tangerine

Good Morning!

I tried to post at least 3 times last night and fell asleep (each time waking up with the laptop sitting in my lap. I've been ripping and running so much that I think it's catching up.

Lovinglife-
That's good news about the 5 pounds

SeaStorm - that's another day long gone now, just embrace this new one.:)

Well I am still doing the same deal with the cleanse through Saturday and so I juiced a lot of fruit last night because I've got to take it on the road with me.

Terrific Tuesday to All!

Things faring very well.

All this rawesome energy is keeping to amped up to wanna just sit at the 'puter.

I've cleaned he van, which I never do and the garage:)

Today will mark my second trip to the gym in 5 days.

Perfect intact with the exception of questionable olive on my olive garden salad. Drank extra H2O that night and moved on. Worst temptation was staring down a BDay for over 2.5 hours.

Will post weight loss accomplishment when I return from the gym. Rid myself of a toxic afiliation/ relationship last night :p :D

Good morning Challengers,

Nothing like a new day!!!

Not feeling well at all gotta run into the city again & taking ^DS to Karate, I told him he could teach me @ home. I moved most of my exercise equip to the side of my exercise room cause guests where coming. Well they cancelled, which is fine, so now I can reconfigure my room. I am losing some of the momentum I had in Feb, but we can't be ^ all the time.

NO BF so far, I thinl I may just flush myself w water this am. If I feel like eating I will.

Good morning everyone. Just wanted to say I'm having a great day, so far this morning. ;) My first two days were good, with the exception of dinner the first night, but I have moved forward. How does anyone eat Nori by the way? LOL I attempted it as a wrap around veggies and oh, it was nasty!

Does anyone know if there are any olives that taste like the regular black canned variety that are raw?

Read my blog if you want to see details on my first two days. You all seem to be doing great! Keep up the progress!!!

I posted this in another posting but thought maybe seeing as how we r all new to this i would post it here also. Detoxing is important. U can lose quite a bit of weight if u detox. I dont want to go the route of a major one that involves irrigation and all so am going to follow this. One thing Val is doing by doing all smoothies is detoxing. She is losing a lot of weight. So here is the suggestion I got out of a magazine i picked up the other day.
Drink two cups of dandelion tea daily. It boosts the liver's detoxifying enzymes by as much as 244%. The tea also promotes healing of the digestive tract, flushes excessfluid out of the lymphatic system and boosts the gallbladders production of bile to speed metabolism and the elimination of toxins. The study was done by the New Zealand's University of Otago and elsewhere. This magazine also has at least one eating program that a Raw person can do. I hope i dont get in trouble for posting the name. The magazine is April 16 FIRST for women on the go.
I am going to do the tea and the one daily program for a few days to see how good it works. I know i need the detox big time.
Good luck all. If u fall just get back up and try try again. This is your health we r talking about. Once u get into it and get your body detoxed and healthy u will feel soooo good. I have had a few days of feeling super good and find that i can do more than I have done in over 10 years. I am 66 but i dont feel it anymore. I used to feel like i was in my 80s or older. I would think that a young person eating Raw would have so much energy that they could do anything they have ever dreamed of. I wish i knew about this way of eating way way back. :D It is never to late.

No one will kick u out or comdemn u for slipping. Just keep trying. It gets easier and easier the longer u go.

huge victory yesterday - stayed almost all raw at passover dinner (had 1/2 glass of wine & some prunes that accompanied a cooked dish). i brought cauliflower cous cous & ate mounds of that. my family LOVED it. i was so happy & proud. So yesterday looked like this:

grapes, watermelon & tea
more grapes, banana
few handfuls of dried fruit (raisins, cranberries & dates)
cauliflower cous cous & prunes
tea & a few grapes
some dates/nuts/seeds & raisins and a lara bar

will post later about today. my next HUGE challenge is bring a guest in someone's home this wknd. all raw may not be possible. i plan to make the best choices i can...

So far so good. Bad headache today. Hardly eating anything except for Fruit in the morn, Salad in the mid, and an avacodo for dinner. Sluggish, tired, and aware that I am detoxing. Must hang in there. Still tough at times in regard to availability of cooked foods. (from my blog)

Hi Everyone, It's Day 3

Valerie,
You are doing awesome! You always provide such great information.
Thank you so much.

My detox symptoms included, a rash all over my body, coated tongue, restlessness and irritability. None of which was bothersome enough to make me discontinue. I get migraine headaches and may goal, through eating 100% raw is to remedy them. When I get a migraine, my world literally stops. I have to be in a dark quiet place for hours.

As a result of being 100% raw, My skin is now clear and smooth, and I 'm
not getting saggy from weight loss. I used to hate mornings. I never had any energy. Now I'm up every morning with lot's of energy and without coffee. My sweat even smells cleaner. When I poo:o , that doesn't smell bad either. I have noticed that my fingernails and toenails are nice and pink. They were always a little bluish for years. I am not worried about my weight plateau at the moment, because I see evidence that some good stuff is going on in my body. I have discovered I'm losing inches instead of weight. :)

My Stats
1/4/07 174lbs my highest weight. Went on a couple of water fasts.
2/9/07 161lbs Started Master Cleanse
2/26/07 150lbs Completed 17 day Master Cleanse
3/1/07 149lbs Day 1 post Master Cleanse.

Magnfiicent March 30 (one) day challenge!
3/31/07 151lbs Day 31 post Master Cleanse and eating 100% raw food.

An Amazing April 30 Day Challenge!!!!
4/3/07 151lbs 1 month post Master Cleanse and 100% raw food.

I should take a picture of my finger nails. They're ridiculously long. I thought they would break them a bunch of times but instead of snapping off they just bend. I love it.

I made onion bread with the dehydrator yesterday. It was so good. I'm trying not to eat it all in one sitting.

I've decided to join Val with just green smoothies. I might freeze my hummus and guac so I can start tomorrow or I'll start this saturday. I'm excited for that.

Food today

Hummus sandwhich with onion bread

Hey all. The first two days of April were not raw, I kinda panicked. But then Alissa's book got here, and I am very excited! So far today I've had a handful of dates and a very large peach smoothie. Yum. Started sprouting some buckwheat and wheat last night, as well as almonds. Made a list of the recipes I want to try in the next couple weeks, and am going shopping today.

My skin is semi-freaked out from the coffee I've had recently, so last night after finishing Alissa's book I put away the coffee beans and French chocolate. Not sure what to do about the open wine in my fridge. It'll be there in 30 days though, won't it? :)

I have also decided to get my kids on 100% raw. My daughter will be an easy one to get to transition, she's a preschooler. My son is a bit older, may take some effort, but he finished off the last round of flax seed pizza crust I made, which is a good sign, dontcha think? Going to let him choose different recipes to try and include him in food prep because he does like to cook.

Good luck today everyone!

I thought about junkfood today when I came home from a toooo long and tooo entiring walk.. but then I made me salads with super-fat-yummi avo-dressing and while eating realized that its honestly actually was 1000 times better than crap food...and if I would feel carving, then I would just make more of this delicious food.. as much as I want... hope to be so smart when I a stumbeling next time...

Doing well. I didn't eat that much today. I had weird feelings. I am hungry but I don't want to eat? I tried eating pineapple but it was so bitter it almost burned my tongue. I had to spit it out! I ate....4 oranges for breakfast, a small salad, some raspberries, oh lots of celery and some cashew butter on it. That's it. Trying to figure out if I am feeling hunger or something else since I really don't feel like eating? Its strange. And I am sleepy, but couldn't sleep last night because I had to many thoughts running through my head!

I am so proud of myself!!!
The evenings are the worst for me as far as getting the "munchies" is concerned. Last night I REALLY wanted something salty like chips or crackers but I resisted and made a little snack bowl of raisins and sunflower seeds and curbed my temptation!!!
I wasn't all raw yesterday because I had some Kashi granola bars, but so far today I've been 100%
Lara bar at breakfast
Green pepper and Lara bar at lunch
Tonight I plan on making a nice salad with greens, cukes, green onion and whatever else I can find in my fridge!
I think I might defrost some frozen fruit and blend it with some flax to dehydrate and make a little chewy snack for later tonight!

huge victory yesterday - stayed almost all raw at passover dinner.

Kiropa, way to go!!! I'm Jewish and know what it's like to face the tons of food on the Passover table, so I commend you on staying raw. I know I couldn't do it.

Luckily (or unluckily, however you want to see it) I live in such an isolated little Midwestern town that they have no Jewish community so I had no one to join for Passover (my family is in Israel).

I'm doing great on day 3 except for a few minor detox symptoms. Nothing like I imagined it would be, though. I guess going raw for a week prior to my 2 day blow-out did some good to my body after all.

Check out my blog for progress and menus.

I drank my first cup of dandelion tea. Not only is it suppose to be great for u but I found out it is a diaretic. I can see where that would cause one to lose weight. Some other hints r to drink lemon water all day. With some lemon zest in it. No sweetner. I have only had that in the mornings. I will do the dandelion tea for another day and then weight. I normally dont weight until sundays but will do it this time to see if the tea is taking a lot of water weight. I know i am making more trips to the bathroom.teehee.
I find the longer I eat Raw the easier it gets. I still want to eat Sad like when i made my son a hamburger, fried mushrooms and fried potatos for lunch. I used to snitch potatos while it was frying but not today. I wanted it but it was not all that hard to forget it. I ate some strawberries instead.
I know i eat to much. I wish i could get past that part. I am real good until i have my smoothie in the morning. I am thinking it could be the sugar in the fruit that is making me want to eat. From noon on I have been eating something. Nuts, carrots, celery and looking for more. Also a couple of Raw cookies. Soon I will be full and that will be it for the day. I usually dont eat a evening meal cause by that time i am to full.
Catch u all tomorrow. I love seeing how people have been losing weight. I lost almost 6#s March but since last Jan 2006 I have lost 76#s. I have 50 more to go.
Have a great and healthy night.

I tried a new recipe for dinner. One I just threw together... (Who knows, its probably been done... lol)

Dont have a name for it yet...

3 fresh corn on the cob (raw, cut from the cob), divided in half
3 vine ripe tomatoes, medium sized, cut in quarters
1 ripe avacado, small to medium, peeled and stoned
1/4 c. freshly juiced carrot juice
Juice from 1/2 a lemon
1 slice red onion, coarsely chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tsp. dried basil
1 tsp. dried oregano
Dash of salt and pepper, to taste

Set aside 1/2 the corn, put all other ingredients in blender. Blend until smooth and creamy. Pour into serving bowl, fold in the extra corn, top with a few celery leaves and a grape tomato. Voila! Cool and creamy!

Already, my mind is working... was thinking, change the spices around, remove basil and oregano, add chili powder, cumin and a dash of cayenne and have a Southwestern feast! Top with cilantro and a spoonful of fresh tomato salsa! Oh man!

Got tired about 3:30, but drank a big glass of water and felt better. Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings!

Well, I lost weight while at Alissa's (And I ate more there than I have in any given day the whole time I've been raw!). I also lost two more pounds during our move. So I'm officially down 30.7 lbs! Woohoo! That is since Dec. 27th for those of you that don't already know!

Dawn - Where you at girl? We survived the move! OH! And my kitchen area is HUGE! Perfect for holding my classes! I just love it!

Hope everyone is doing great with their challenge! I stayed raw throughout my travels to and from Alissa's (minus a friend's mistake when making guac. for me), and throughout the move! So ya'll CAN DO IT! I have faith in ya!

As for me, today was just trying to make sure I got ENOUGH food! I was gone for about six hours and had only had two tomatoes drizzled with the olive oil from Alissa's site and sprinkled with sea salt before I left! I was really cranky by the time I got home! But I got something to eat and was fine! It wasn't even about willpower when I was out. I truly don't want to eat SAD ever again. None of it appeals to me now.

Hope ya'll have a wonderful raw day!

I don't know if you've already tried it or not but parsley is an excellent diuretic. I like to throw in salads and when I really want the diuretic effect I will juice a big bunch of it with a bunch of carrots. Some think that parsley is bitter so you have to experiment with how much you want in a juice drink.

Shine-
Way to go on that weight loss.

I'm sitting here thumbing through Alissa's books and planning for the day when I will be eating my yummy spaghetti or lasagna with a salad and some pizza. Still doing my cleanse which is going just fine - just drinks lots and lots of fresh apple and apple pear juice

Hey guys!

It is, as always, great to hear about all the wonderful things that are happening in your lives on raw!

Today was great. I have noticed just in the last week that my mood seems better, my bm's are better and in the last 2 days I have gotten so much energy! I feel like I could run in circles and not be tired.

I had some strawberries for breakfast, a salad of red leaf lettuce, carrots, romaine and spinach, pineapple and an orange for lunch, and have yet to eat supper, but presume that it will be some sort of salad and an apple! Hope you all have a great, energetic night :)

Go me! I went to the gym for the first time since August!! Woot woot! Not like I've been a couch potato the whole time...I gave up the gym b/c I was doing bikram yoga 4-5 days/week. But lately I have not been doing that much. I did some cardio and light weights. Am gonna work with my trainer on Monday to get back in the groove plus he said he has a whole new way of training he's learning.

I think I am detoxing...and pmsing. A fun combo!

Shine: Welcome back! I keep wondering if your son is excited to learn what you learned? I remember you said he was so interested.

Puffy: You're doing awesome! I don't know that dandelion makes you lose weight? It does help with detox though. I put the dandelion leaves in my juicer and my smoothies and I have a dandelion tea I like...but I don't notice anything from it. Just one of those things you sort of have to trust is working (or not).

Food today:
smoothie: pineapple, banana, spinach, dandelion
yam chips
nori crackers
salad w/half avo
apple
jicama with nacho cheese (yum!) - will prob dip some other veggies too
I think I'll make a sundae - banana ice cream w/choc sauce I made and strawberries and almonds on top!

Night all!

Wow I can't believe how wonderful everyone is doing. Even those that have gotten off track a bit are getting right back on! I just love hearing everyone's success. BTW, Punkspirit that is quite a nice change in your pictures in just one week - Congrats!

I am doing good on day 3 all raw. I have been hungrier today and probably not as good about feeding myself as I should. I had a large green smoothie this morning, handful of pine nuts, some grapes, a few cherry tomatoes and baby carrots. I'm not sure what i'll have for dinner - probably another green smoothie although that doesn't thrill me. No matter what it'll be raw though.

I think it's time to try a recipe or 2. I will probably try the onion bread everyone raves about. I like the fact that it doesn't have grains - i'm not a grain fan cooked or sprouted. I also want to hunt down some yummy dip/cheese recipes for my jicama.

I T-tapped today :D and then spent most of my time on the computer :( doing work. I have not had the surge of energy I would like and I'm certainly not sleeping better (multiple trips to bathroom during night) but no bad detox symptoms either. I'm real glad I stopped caffeine before this challenge as stopping it gives me the worst headache.

Cheers to everyone! ~Megan

Megan. I think one of the best green smoothies is a apple, a banana, a handful of spinach, orange, filtered water. u dont taste the spinach unless u put a couple of handsful in. U have to experiment with smoothies to find the combination u like and when u do u will want it all the time..........well almost all the time. I also put a couple of carrots in mine. I'lll be honest with u but the smoothie u made does not sound all that tasty. The first smoothie i made had so many greens in it it was terrible. YUK. I almost gave them up and then started using more fruit. An apple is so great. It seems to give it a great flavor along with being sweeter. I made one this morning with mango, pineapple, orange, spinach and apple. It was not as sweet so it seems the more citrus fruit i use the tarter it is.
I cannot eat bananas anymore. I was having BMs three times which is good but was barely able to make it to the bathroom in time. I was afraid to go anywheres. I decided to quit eating bananas and now I have no problem except now i only go once a day. Three times is best. I love bananas. :(
I guess i better call it a day. I am mostly doing the dandelion tea to see if it will help clear up my ps. Sure hope it does the trick. Once the dandelions come up i can use them fresh. :D right now it is to cold and we r suppose to get snow again. I hate winter. Give me warmth and the good ole sun anyday.

Wishing everyone the best! Still in the challenge though I'm only on juices.

Day 11 for me since I started a little early in late March.

I just love 30 day challenges. Everyone needs healthy encouragment and this is just the place to get it.:D

Just wanted to put in a thumbs up regarding green smoothies, actually green juices. If you don't really like the taste of green smoothies, try juicing the produce instead. I have to say, it really is delicious.

As I type I'm drinking a spinach, celery, carrot, cucumber juice and it's absolutely yummy. I don't think I'd like it as a smoothie because of the texture, but as a juice it's great.

Give it a try! Good luck!

I made it through my second all raw day! I have been thinking about cooked food alot but really feel strong not to eat it. My dehydrator came today so I started some fruit leather. I need to find grains so I can start sprouting and make crackers. I also made Alissa's Fudge Balls- yum! My ex was over and he ended up eating a big salad w/ Alissa's dressing and some fudge balls and he liked them both alot. My 2 year old also ate mostly raw today too. Now if I could only get my boys and my mom to try more things:o I have been eating alot more then I allowed myself last week - I am focusing on getting healthy and not the weight now and I think that is what made the cooked cravings easier to fight off. I love reading all the posts about everyones days- keep up the good work!:)

Just wanted to respond to Puffysmom to let you know that I was lazy in my writing. My green smoothie this morning was orange, banana, swiss chard and spinich. I love green smoothies but I have 2 canker sores right now and I am trying to cut back on the citrus. I wasn't looking forward to an evening smoothie because I ran out of blueberries to go with an apple/berry/greens smoothie and greens with just an apple didn't appeal to me as much.

The rest of the things I listed after the smoothie were what else I ate, separately, today. ;) Sorry for my laziness in typing. I ended up only have grapes for dinner because I had to run my son to the doctor this evening for an earache. I'm so proud I hit the grocery store right after for some grapes instead of a fast food restaurant. I hope I stay as strong as the month progresses.

Thanks for the note about Alissa's nacho cheese Vegan Princess! I actually picked up a jalapeno this evening so I will make some up for tomorrow! :D

:D Kudos to everyone for your deligence and creativity!

My focus today is fruit variety and increased water intake. Already enjoyed two clementines/tangerines (can't tell the difference).

Gotta go to the dentist today for a crown. So a defiantely won't be swashing any nuts and seeds around in this increasingly expensive mouth today.

Saving my green smoothie option for tonight, need to load up my dehydrator today with sweet stuff and then alternate with garlicky and onion stuff by the weekend.

Ordered RAW Macadamian nuts so I can try my hand at a RAW Cheesescake soon:p .

:) REMEMBER FOLKS IT'S JUST FUEL SO PUT THE BEST FOOD AVAILABLE IN THAT AWESOME BODY OF YOURS:)

Wonderful Wednesday to everyone!

I am blessed and highly favored and glad to be alive today. I'm still drinking my combo of fruit juices every 3 hours with the cleanse but I am fantasizing about lasagna, pizza, and spaghetti. I cannot wait until Sunday.

I see we are all moving along this raw journey - discovering new things about ourselves and coming into great realizations along the way.

I'm still alive and kicking in this challenge! Getting ready to soak some dates and sundried tomatoes for later. I'm going to soak buckwheat and rye berries overnight so I can make the calzone and some rye bagels here in a few!

Keep on keeping on ladies and gents! Raw really does RAWK!

Hi all! I'm into day 10 for me...but 4 in the challenge! I am doing well, but wishing I could get rid of these headaches that I get about every other day! DH and I are going to paint our house this weekend, so I have to clean up and organize, and have alot to do.
I wanted to post...everyone is doing so great. I feel behind in posting, and MISS posting to everyone.
Yesterday, a friend and I went shopping and while we were out, it was lunch time. Traditionally, I would have ate "whatever" at fast food, but my friend is also watching what she eats, and when I mentioned "Ruby Tuesdays" , she was all over it!
I was thankful for a HUGE salad....and wasn't even hungry for dinner.
Yesterdays food:
barleymax
earl gray tea (with agave for sweetner)
almonds and walnuts for a snack
salad
late in the evening a handful of walnuts because I missed dinner
LOTS OF WATER about 2 liters, which is more than I usually have, about 2 liters more!!

Today, so far, I've had:
barleymax
earl gray tea
organic raw chocolate (just a bite...feeling like I need the "mood lift")

That's all so far!

In Him,
Wendi

Morning all. Tonight I am meeting a friend for dinner and a movie. We're supposed to go to a good Indian place by the theater, but the only raw thing on the menu is a lettuce and tomato side salad. So I'm going to have to ask him to change it...the only other thing around there is Chevys...but at least I can get the tableside guacamole. He's gonna think I'm nuts asking to switch to Chevys (people in SF don't really eat at chain restaurants)...but oh well...he's just a friend anyhow, I don't care if he thinks I'm nuts.

Had a yummy smoothie for brekkie: mango, 2 mini apple bananas, dandelion, hemp seed.

Happy hump day.

Tuliza I've tried to get my "diet chick ticker" to appear in my signature. Every time I "cut and paste" it, my "ticker" appears as words only. Can you help me figure it out? Thanks.

Vegan Princess - You make me laugh girl! You do what you need to for you to help keep you on this path! Or, if you wanted to still go to the Indian food place, you could ask them to quadruple the tomatoes for you! That's what I've done when faced with limited options. But then again, I'm a tomato-aholic!:p Hope you have a great time tonight wherever you end up!

Sunshine :D

I am so Happy for you !!!!!!

I can't wait to hear about the new classes you'll be doing in YOUR NEW KITCHEN.

Still here just got very sick, I feel worse than the "norm Detox" THAT I HAVE BEEN THROUGH BEFORE. Still trudging on.

Blessings to you Sunshine

Where one or two are gathered in his name...................

Thank You Wendi I really do need some divine intervention.
Maybe this round of detox is me paying for the sins I did to my body so long ago. Twinkies, alcohol, smoking, Oh Soda!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could go on. But if this is what it takes to rid my body of this then I will count it as a blessing as well.

So proud of you Ten days woooohooooooooooo.

I think I may go lay down for awhile, Later Gators.

Hello Everyone,
It's Day 4. It looks like some of us are doing some serious detoxing. It may feel awful and uncomfortable, however, I look at it as a gift and a conformation that eating raw makes positive change in the body. I got up this morning to weigh myself and:eek: I weighed 154. Where did that come from:confused: . I haven't eaten SAD food. I've been nothing but 100% raw. Has this ever happen to anyone?

Tvillemom,
Make sure, when you cut and paste, that you are using the BBcode
(for forums) instead of the HTMLcode (not for forums). See if that works for you.
I put my BBcode on text edit to save my signature as a draft because it too big to fit in the forum signature box..
