today i was cleaning and i live with my granny whose a SAD eater but i decided, forget it im throwing out the microwave, i heard victoria butenko discussing how in Russia theyve done so much research they dont allow it citizens to own microwaves, and so if she wants cooked food theres still a stove, but maybe this will lessen how much cook she eats because it takes more time on the stove, ok thanks for listening, peace, love and rawness!!

my family is still SAD-ish..but i finally convinced them to toss the microwave a couple months ago.

microwaved food is so, so bad for you. there was an article online about a girl who did a science experiment and watered two different plants..one with tap water, one with microwaved water. the latter died within a week, the other lived out its full life...and TAP water is full of terrible chemicals, yet still beat the microwaved water by a long shot.

I talked to my sister-in-law about doing the same thing and she's doing it.
Someone wanted to give us one and we both turned it down dh and I.
It's great to know the truth isn't it and to follow through.
Here's to good health and knowledge.

my mom knows the facts about how horrible the microwave is, but she won't toss it because of my dad. I find it interesting that the more "technology" advances the worse off we get, mostly in America. European countries an everywhere else it seems is much smarter, but we consider them lesser countries...

The only thing I use the microwave in this apartment for is to heat up my "worm" that keeps me warm at night.

You are a brave, intelligent, RAWSOME woman!

HOORAY!

For what it's worth,

Years ago, I did some research, online, and read several books about microwaves, and cell phones. Much of the scientific research in the US has been surpressed, often by the very businesses interests that funded the research initially.
Anyway, I decided to nix the microwave, and avoid cell phones. I'm lucky, at this moment, because my work, and family situation doesn't require one. Unfortunately, for so many, cell phones have become indispensible and a necessity.

The research I read basically reveals that microwaving one's head is as potentially dangerous as microwaving one's food. It takes a long time to see the damaging results, which makes it easy to forget. Studies have shown that children are particularly endangered by long term use.

This gives new meaning to the phrase "hot-headed".

All the best,

Elena

awesome. My Dad, much to my surprise, finally pitched his microwave last fall. I never owned one, but Dad had a natural health care provider who was constantly hounding him about it, he wouldn't budge. Then I go vegan, he goes vegan, and next thing ya know the thing is in the garbage.

Yay!!

I have quit using my microwave, but my husband doesn't even realize it. I heat his food in the oven or on the stove. Maybe this summer I will get rid of it.

i havn't done much research, but do microwaves affect you when they're not even running? I hope that doesn't sound like a dumb question!

haha wow thanks to everyone, the only reason id use mine is to heat up tea but i think ive heard it can change the structure of water, either way i dont want the "rays" in my home!
eatyourbroccoli-thats intresting i might try that experiment myself
dream-im not sure if it affects you when its sitting there but if its there people (other sad eaters) are probably using it so why leave it to temptation lol

Good for you!

My whole family makes fun of me for this very issue! At family gatherings, someone will use the microwave, and yell to me that I may want to step outside for a minute. When I was pregnant, I did step outside! :D

When we moved into our new (well, new to us) house a few months ago, it didn't come with a microwave. My sad hubby said, we'll need to get one, but I wouldn't do it. He wants one at least for microwave popcorn - double yuk!

I was in line at Costco with one in the cart - just for popcorn. I was *sick* to my stomach. Just thinking of my kids eating denatured food made me sick. I couldn't do it. I put it back.

Had tea with my new neighbor (sad and on atkins - yikes!) a week later and she said her hubby fought her on the same issue. She wanted to throw the thing out! They agreed to put it in the garage for a month to see how much he would miss it. They forgot about it and after not using it for 6 months, he agreed to throw it out!

Even the sad population is catching on!!!

Dream - I don't know about the microwave rays while the thing is off, BUT if it is plugged in, it is giving off EMF, actually everything that is plugged into the grid gives off EMF, even if it is turned off.

I read somewhere that your TV takes a few hours to power down after you turn it off, so folks who have one in the bedroom, and watch right before they go to bed...

I'll need to look up those sources.

Hi Strawberry Pie,

You're right about everything plugged in having an EMF field, even when turned off.

I have read, also, that having a plug in alarm clock by your head all night isn't very good. I have used a battey operated one for over a decade.

Ciao,

Elena

I don't think that microwaved food is good for you - got rid of my microwave a few months ago. But I had a hard time believing the experiments about the microwaved water. The one I'd read is that seeds wouldn't sprout in microwaved water. I tried it with filtered water, filtered water heated on the stove (and then cooled), and filtered water heated in the microwave (and then cooled). All the seeds sprouted.

I do believe it seriously changes the protein structure of the food. Just look at the hard chunk you get if you microwave something too long. It's gross.

If the micowave is big enough to cover the socket, then unplu, pretend it's broke and see if they adapt or if some one runs out to buy a new one.

I am moving next week, and in my new house is a built in microwave. I have decided to use it to store my spices. I even bought a round spice tierd rack to put it in the microwave as storage. I just have to remember to have it unplugged so no one accidently nuks all my spices! I figure, if it is full, and people visit, they wont try to use it because it will be too full of spices!

I thought so too. My entire family is SAD. I am the only one even veggie let alone raw. You don't need to go raw to decide not to nuke your food. I reheat things for them on the stove or in the toaster oven.

It takes a few minutes more - really only a few minutes more, but look at the trade-off. Regular cooked food vs. literally *nuked* food - its not food anymore.

Bad stuff like a depressed immune system for days after eating nuked food, etc.

My family won't eat raw, not even close, (TET) but the first step was getting rid of the microwave. They don't ask me for "microwavabe" crap at the grocery store anymore! :-)
