the juice guy at whole foods said that it oxidizes shortly after being juiced and that frozen wheatgrass wouldn't work becuase of it. makes sense but alissa has it in her resources... whats the deal

I disagree with the guy that told you that. Wheatgrass juice can lose a good deal of its enzymes while frozen, but still contains much of the vitamins, minerals and all of the chlorophyl. So if there´s simply no other way to get it or you managed to juiced too much and need a way to store it, then freeze it!
I do it all the time.

we sell frozen wheatgrass at our juice bar and people say they can feel the results. It's better to have it that way..if you can't make it in to the juice bar every day.

I will share from my admittedly limited.. :-) experience with frozen vs. fresh wheatgrass juice. I had been using frozen and then made my own, actually for the first time today, and I can tell a huge difference in the flavor and also the immediate effect. I am sure the frozen is still beneficial, but, given how easy it is to grow it..I would recommend growing and juicing your own, if at all possible...

I have an Omega 8005 that juices it well..and I have heard of others who use a manual juicer which is not very expensive..

Oh I totally agree! There is a definite taste difference between frozen and fresh. Me? I prefer fresh for sure.

That is too funny!!! I too have to be surrounded by living things. My office, my home. I always have Violets blooming, Spider plants producing babies (I don't watch  ), sprouts sprouting, wheatgrass a'growin'. I have always been that way. It's healthy to surround yourself with life and greens and growing things.

Here's a quote from my brother's website. He is a master wheatgrass grower.

Q: Are the powdered or frozen grass' any good?

A: Powdered is better than frozen, but both are just "alternative's" and there is no substitute for the fresh wheatgrass juice. Powder is a good alternative when traveling.

Powdered? HUH? Didn't know there was a such thing. Whoa!

Yep, it's in capsule form too. I found some powder packets at a Trader Joes or Whole Foods in CT. Definitely not as good as fresh. So I put it in my green drinks or give it to my cat.

Just watch the capsules. A LOT of them are beef gelatin. Unless it specifically says. Even the Vegan ones? I empty them (of whatever it is I'm taking, like the probiotic when I was sick).
