My older sister just told me that these 2 conditions run in the family.
I am in shock that no-one ever told me but I know she is correct.
My liver section sticks out way beyond any other section of my stomach. It is quite obviously enlarged.
Now I am confused because what she mentioned as the signs of potassium defiency I was considering to be hot flashes. Now I don't know. Also when I look it up the hot flash type symptoms are supposed to be too much potassium. I am having a difficult time understanding what I am trying to read. (which is also a sign of potassium defiency.)
Is there anyone that can help me to understand what it means and what to do?
I have been craving spinach and eating lots of it (and drinking) for a long time and it turns out that it is high in potassium but obviously my body is not absorbing it well even though I sometimes have it with lemon juice.
Please advise.

I am lost. Besides all the strange pains and body feelings I suffer with regularly I only slept from 9p.m. to 11p.m. and that was with sleep medication. The hot flashes and chills kept me from sleeping rest of night. They happen from minute to minute.
The doctors never know what is going on with me. I cannot keep going to work like this.

I was on long-term use of diuretics to treat a heart condition, so I know all too well about the symptoms of hypokalemia (potassium deficiency). The symptoms I most often experienced were painful muscle cramps, fatigue, and palpatations/dysrythmias.
The night sweats, poor sleep, etc are more apt to be caused by menopause. Mine have been drastically reduced since going raw. Have you thought about using Maca - many are taking it in lieu of hrt. Just a thought. Feel better soon ~ Cathy

how is your overall digestion?
could be that something is going on with your intestines that is leading you to not absorb nutrients properly?
cucumber and celery juice mixture will provide a ton of potassium..bananas too.
have you ever cleaned out your gut before?

Thanks you two. I bought cucumber and celery (have been eating them quite a bit). Have had the leg cramps and palpitations. Course now that I can worry about losing my job cause of having to leave sick cuz of nausea and weak (from lack of sleep?) I guess I don't feel safe getting the maca since we have no savings to tide us over.

for leg cramps I have heard of the need for calcium, magnesium, potassium or salt. People usually find relief with one of these nutrients. I know greens have calcium. Maybe try eating other things with calcium and see if that works.
Oranges and almonds have calcium as well as many other foods. There was a post a while back where someone ate figs and it helped their cramps.

Only peronsal opinion here.
Your liver may be trying to ride the casue of it's issues. If your liver doesn't function optimally, a series of health issues develop. Muscle weakness is a hallmark, tiredness b/c blood flow is stagnant thus kidney and other organs compensate. IF it has been that long, you may consider Milk thistle to repair on a cellular level.
spinach (greens ) are very colon and liver friendly! Ginger works as a tonic for liver and kidneys.
the cramps and palpitations, cramps are usually seen in liver deficinet people and palpitations along side with weak kidneys. DO you find one side of your body feels stronger than the other? In other words, is weakness more dominant on L or R?
you will benenfit using magnesium in the interim until raw balances out the core of your issues.....

Dear Luckitri,
I am so sorry to hear about the incredible trials you are going through physically, compounded by the fear of losing your employment. My heart goes out to you. I'm really sorry tht I don't have any answers.
Perhaps eatyourbroccoli is onto something, and some sort of gentle colon cleanse could help you to absorb more of the minerals and nutrients that your body needs. I don't mean a colonic (hydro) cleanse- those are expensive and am not sure if they are always good for everyone. Perhaps you could try an gentle herbal colon cleanse from your health food store.
It is good that you are eating lots of food high in the minerals & nutrients that your condition and body requires. I hope you find a way to heal yourself, and regain your much needed sound sleep. I am sending you healing thoughts and prayers via cyberspace.
Best wishes for your total healing,
Elena aka Soulstar

I think your Sister got you all shook up about the Family History. And what ever she said the Family had.....of course you have it (NOT) CHILL....Relax and all of that Good Stuff. I am so sure you are just going through Men-a-pause.
I am also sure you ment you drink the Spinach Juice also...
As the quote above says...I rely on my legs to tell me when my Potassium is Low and it NEVER fails.....So I want to be the first to WELCOME YOU TO THE WORLD OF MEN-A-PAUSE.....
A simple vile of Blood will ease your mind about this. I just had one drawn and she told me about everything in my Body except my Brain..She needed more Blood for that:D
She told me about my Liver, Kidneys,,,,everything.....RELAX................Too much Potassium is also NOT good for you, so don't OD on it thinking you need it.
