In a new recipe book I have, the recipes call for "coconut cream". Would that be the coconut oil in the cream state?

Revvell, I can only guess! But, I would say that coconut cream is coconut oil.

...thanks, that's what I'm assuming also. Guessing it means using it in it's hardened state. Anyone else know?

coconut cream can be coconut oil or it can be a cream made out of the meat of the coconut in a food processor, depends on the author of the book.

Usually it says somewhere in the book what the different ingredients are.

I could be wrong, but I though in Rhio's book Hooked on Raw, that coconut cream was something that she made.

I suppose, I could just get up and check out her book, but I am in the east end of the house, in my lower art studio, and it is in the kitchen, too far to walk after midnight while I am playing on the computer.

coconut cream is different. it is not just the oil but it includes the meat as well, so it is sweeter.

tropicaltraditions.com has it as well as coconut oil. and, right now, they have some great specials going on. i am gonna get some too, since i have never tried the coconut cream.

however, it is a possibility (since people often use different, sometimes inaccurate terminology) that the particular recipe to which you refer is actually just meaning coconut oil. no way to know for sure unless there is a glossary of terms in the book, or you can email the author.

btw, which recipe book is it?

Thanks for the info and the link kristi. Ummm, which book? Just looked through some I've recently gotten and can't find it although I did find coconut "butter" in one of the Raw Family's books. When I find it, I'll post it for ya. Work time! :)
