I started gradually transitioning to raw back in august when a dr recommended a 75% raw food diet with adding lean meats to it as well. I began to notice when I ate the raw food I felt good and when I did add other things like lean meats my stomach started to not tollerate it. So I did some research looking online about the raw food diet and that's when I began eating more just raw food. Since I have been doing this I have gotten off of pain meds as well as pysch meds. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue and bipolar disorder. My psychiatrist started seeing such a difference and my body litterally started rejecting the meds and making me really sick that he agread that I was better able to control my moods with sticking to this diet than with medication. I also have so many days where I feel zero pain and it feels great. I do still struggle with days of not sticking to it 100% and running into problems but I am getting better and trying to not beat myself up when I don't do as well one day. I figured that getting on this site would help me with some added support and motivation. Being able to meet other people in the Ann Arbor area would be very cool too.

Hi RawChelle! Welcome. I have found a lot of info, support and encouragement here and I hope you will too! Am glad to hear that you're getting support from your doctors about this. I think that may be slightly unusual. :D

Best of luck to you in your healing journey!

Wow your story is amazing! Congratulations for getting off the medication. It is truely a testimony of how raw food works. You will love it here at RFT. The good news is you can come here 24 hours for support and read til your hearts content. Ann Arbor, MI? I live in Michigan but not near Ann Arbor (I am about 2 hours away). I know there are a few here on RFT that live on the west side of the state so you may get lucky to find a friend. Anyway Good luck on your Raw Journey and congratulations for adopting a new heathly path for yourself.

I was diagnosed as bi-polar and refuse meds. The docs think I'm weird, but I KNOW that it wouldn't be in my best intrest. I just need to stick wtih raw a certain way for my body and mind to clear out and heal. Keep it up!

Oh, have you ever had a mood? An emotion? Ha, you're bi-polar! Congratulations on finding the Raw truth and discovering how deeply entangled the mind is with the food we consume. Welcome! I heard about monthly Raw potlucks in the Ann Arbor area. I'll research it and get back to you on that.

Hi my son was diagnosed bi polar but is on heaps of meds. Can't get him interested in raw. Was undiagnosed for 20 years and in that time did terrible things to his body amazing he's still alive.
Glad that you are trying raw and I am learning that there isn;t anything that raw can't fix if we can really focus on it 100% Keep going. Annie P

Thanks to everyone who responded with all the wonderful things. I'm still getting to know my way around here and didn't realize so many people commented. I feel so silly for not getting back sooner.
