Yesterday marked his 30th day of the challenge. Today, he's made a heaping platter of corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, carrots... the works for an Irish feast. Our friends are starting the day here - a Boston St. Pat's at the O'Connor abode - and then we'll all head out.
I keep warning him to take it easy on his body... reminding him that his body will have changed and may react less than favorably to meat and SAD food generally.
We shall see.
Me, I've got some of Maraw's pancakes waiting to be devoured! :D

He will probably have a few pints of guinness to wash it all down and compound the problem

Did he do the challenge with you? If so, this will probably be a blessing in disguise (as long as it's not fatal!).
Most of us learn the hard way with these kidns of binges into cookfoodom. Even my husband, who isn't even all raw, has cleaned up his diet through the years and can no longer tolerate most restarant foods.
Just support him in his "feast" and let him make his own discovery.
i totally agree with sharon.
i've learned from all my slip-ups- going raw and in life.
maybe soon he'll be a devote raw foodist. :)
He will probably need a nap after eating such heavy food!:)

Beckla... What everyone else said... ;) Be thankful that he completed a 30 day raw challenge so he knows how wonderful raw can be, and will be able to compare that with how he's going to feel later today/tomorrow.
Plus, I just want to say, BIG KUDOS to you for staying raw and not indulging in the feast being cooked before your eyes. :)
You will feel so much better eating delicious raw pancakes. :D

For some it takes a few tries, so let him "enjoy" his own journey as you move forward on this path. He'll come around. My husband refused to be vegan way back, made lots of recipes, but nothing was fulfilling UNTIL he had his first and ony epileptic seizure about 29-30 years ago. Now he's total vegan, but mostly raw too. If he can drink green smoothies, then there's hope for your hubby. My hubby is not fast to change at most things, but he did, so grateful in all things.
Keep us posted. Congr. on your journey results!!!

The odd thing about the Corned Beef and Cabbage thing on Patrick's Day is that it is a U.S. thing. Over here it is boiled bacon that is commonely eaten with cabbage.
How disgusting is that. writing it down has brought back unpleasant memories of having to indulge in it.

Thanks for all the replies! Yep. I fully agree - live and let live, learn and let learn.
And oh, did he learn.
Boy Wondered moaned in delight as he gorged himself on the plate o' meat. A few hours later, he had himself a big ol' cheese burger. And later that evening? After I'd long since said good night? Pizza with pepperoni.
He woke me up the following morning (yesterday). "Honey? Um, honey?"
"Yeahhh?"
"I feel bad. I mean, um, seriously bad. I feel gassy and bloated and generally like c$@ap. This has convinced me to stay at least 'high raw'."
I fought the urge to say I told you so. But I smiled as I rolled back over.

Thanks for the update, Beckla. His decision is great, even if he had to learn the hard way, LOL. :)

OMG. Glad you kept your mouth shut, and let him learn from his own experiences. Some, we know, just have to take the tough road before they have a wake up call. Sure hope today he's doing so much better. He'll never forget this St. Patrick's Day again!
