How do I make Raw almond butter? I just wondered cause I am almost out but would like to make it instead of buying it at $17.00 a jar. If someone has an exact recipe that would help. Thanks

Blend raw almond in a food processor

Depending on the speed you may need to add a few teaspoons of water or olive oil as you go until the nut oils are released

You can add sea salt or honey/ agave for additional flavor

But I just eat it as is ( usually cashew butter)

Soaked almonds make things to mushy and wet instead of Peanut butter pastey

If you have a Trader Joes near you it is only $5 something a jar...it's their own brand, very good and so much less money!

you can also use your juicer with the homogenizing or blank plate and just feed the almonds thru...voila!

Thanks everyone - I will have to check out trader joes. But at that price are we sure it is truely raw? I was reading in other threads that the Maranatha brand is not truely raw even though it says so on the label. I bought some in the healthfood section of my Krogers but now I won't be buying it again.

Now for making almond butter I don't have a juicer with a homginizer or blank plate but I do have a vitamix and a cuisenart So I will try that.
