When a recipe calls for sprouted almonds, for how long do i let them sprout? I know buckwheat, is as long as the tails have grown within a day, but with continuous rinsing.

Do you have Alissa's book? It tells you everything you need to know about sprouting!

I just soak for 12 hours; some say up to 24. I've NEVAH seen a tail grow on mine and I HAVE attempted DAYS!
12 hours is usually enough.

I do have Alissa's book and so I will be checking that as soon as i get home. I really don't remember seeing that in the sprouting chart. I may have glanced over it so quick and only saw the soaking time (or am i confusing that with another chart somewhere's else??)
i don't remember ever having seen a recipe that calls for sprouted almonds until i saw this one...

so i will be trying that this weekend.

Soaking them for 12 hours is considered sprouting. They expand but don't sprout.

They're pretty soaked too-the veins come out and look alive!
By the time they're shooting they've turned to wood... soaking is all you need. A lot of raw almonds are heat treated or irradiated and are already dead... gotta watch out for this.
