View Full Version : When to eat what...

So I am on day 5 of 100% raw! I have been really, really good, except a couple days where I ate some organic triscuit-like crackers and raw goat cheese that were sitting around the house. I was starving! This just means I need to make some raw cheez dip and raw crackers ASAP, as the crackers & cheese are an addiction. Other than that, I was wondering about something...
I know the advice is to gorge on fruit until noon. Well, I get up pretty early, don't have time to make a smoothie most days, and while I bring plenty of fruit w/me to work, I consistently crave my heaviest meal of the day between 11am-12pm. Is it therefore okay to go with that craving and eat my lunch (Today it's the raw reuben sandwich, wrapped in a collard green leaf!) before 12? After 12, I am pretty satisfied with fruit, until the afternoon, when I crave cheese and crackers. After that, I am fine with fruit again. Is following this rhythm okay long-term?
Feedback appreciated;)

Sarah,
I don't know where you got the "advice" to "gorge" on fruit until noon...
Far as I know (and I support Alissa's advice as it's working well for me), eat what you want, when you want as long as it's raw.
Try that for awhile yourself and adjust as needed. This lifestyle is NOT about deprivation and feeling "STARVED" ~ it's about freedeom, love for oneself and the enjoyment of what's a natural way of being and eating.
btw> you can make your smoothie the night before you know?
Remember ~ KISS and always, play with your food.

I don't know of any advise about gorging on fruit, that doesn't sound to healthy in my opinion. If you don't have Alissa's book, get it! It will save you from making a lot of easy misjudgements and it really helps to simplify things.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. Perhaps "gorging" is too strong a word. I just thought I read in Alissa's material and other raw food materials that it is best to eat all fruit prior to noon???
Anyway, I would love some smoothie recipes. I can most certainly make them at night.
And yes, I do have Alissa's book & love it. I just thought it said that ultimately, one should eat fruit until noon.
Thanks!

Opinion:
In early transitional phases (until you reach a comfortable goal) I would not bog yourself down too much with too many rules. Just concentrate on eating enough....staying full....and eating a wide variety. Concentrate on feeling comfortable, prepared, confident, taciturn, and well-fed in social and family situations (as these can often be big issues for those just starting out).
-Otherwise, your manner of eating certainly seems fine to me! LOL.
-Thank you for your intelligent question(s)!

If it's around in the a.m. I've been known to eat lasagne.
Consider this... SAD eaters will eat left-over sad pizza for breakfast; and/or eggs, toast, sausage... WHATEVER you eat in the a.m. that's raw is better than that, yes?

I think ultimately what is important is that you listen to your body. It will tell you what it needs and when. Your current eating sounds fine to me. Maybe try to find some flax seed crackers. I bought some raw flax seed crackers at the health food store which might satisfy your cracker craving until you can make some.
Best to you!
