Hey raw fooders :)

It's been awhile since I've posted on here but I've been so super busy with uni and now I've been hunted down by my church to do food demonstrations! That's where I was hoping some of you experts could assist me..

My church is running a special one month programme on LOW FAT foods. I've been asked to demonstrate some of my low fat recipes.. problem is, a lot of the recipes I want to show include nuts!

Could anyone offer any suggestions on some yummy desserts I could demonstrate that contain no nuts? I was thinking of doing the crepes for one demonstration just not using the creamy nut filling? Should I just sub in fresh fruit?

Your help is MUCH appreciated!
Thanks guys and gals,
Razzle xx

I've been making this for my dessert cravings in late evenings:

apple(s)
carrot(s)
date(s)
rasins
cinnamon
cardemon
nutmeg

I grate apple(s) and carrot(s) on the fine side of my grater, so the apples become mash ant the carrot thin treads. I squeeze excess juice into a glass and drink, so it wont get too wet. Chop date til mashy and add with rasins and spices. Mix it til it's sticky enough, make a cake of it on a plate ant refrigirate for a while.
For a higher fat I add like 1 t coconut.

good luck!

Maybe do a pie with Maraw's pie crust (on her site) and remind those attending that raw plant fats are HEALTHY for us! ???? Even an easy nut/date crust, with Alissa's blueberry pie?? Good luck, and what a great way to show others how WONDERFUL raw, natural foods are. Just the way God intended!

What about making green smoothies! Everyone here loves them and they are healthy and lowfat. Mix up different flavors.

Alissa's banana papaya pudding is very good and easy, Raw applesauce is the best, banana ice cream with chocolate sauce and a lot of other recipes in ALissa's book!

Oh yeah! Green smoothies or do a twist on your presentation and speak about how eat more raw foods you don't have to worry so much about counting fat and show them some yummy raw dishes they can make that can be healthy. Just an idea.

Marinated veggies: (Portabellas, onions, spinach, peppers, cabbage zuc's,carrot strips-etc...)

Marinade these over night then wrap in a collard leaf or lettuce wrap!!!

They have such amazing flavor and you can make them so colorful:p

Totally lowfat and delicous!

Serve with a fruit salad.

Good Luck to you :D

You asked about desserts specifically, right?
How about a raw apple or pumpkin pie - the only nuts would be the crust, and you could use the opportunity to educate people about healthy vs. unhealthy fats.
Chocolate pudding? Key Lime pudding? Macaroons? RP's brownies? Those have coconut, nuts or avocado, but again with the healthy fats.
Let us know what you come up with! And post pictures!

I forgot about raw apple crisp. I have a recipe that is to die for...and little or no nuts...I can't remember exactly....if you want the recipe let me know!

What about making a buckwheat based crust with a banana based pudding inside?
I like the idea of teaching them that raw fats are good for us and such!
