With Macadamia nuts being twelve dollars/cup, and Pine nuts even more; many recipes are very expensive.
When I try to use different nuts to substitute it does not turn out right.
Do you know of anything I can substitute for pine nuts and Macadamia nuts?
Or a place I can order then from that does not cost so much?
Thanks.

i've been using soaked cashews for macadamia nuts, but i've been able to find pine nuts at trader joe's for not too much

Yes, I also use cashews in the place of macadamia nuts and they work out just fine. If you have Costco or Sam's club, (not so sure about Sam's but I know Costco for sure) they carry pine nuts and it's probably cheaper to get a large bag from them to have on hand and you probably wouldn't use them often so it should last a good while before needing to restock on them.

I think it really depends on the recipe.
if it is something that will be all blended up with other ingredients & seasonings etc... I would do the cashews.
But for something like the cheesecake crust....that just HAS to be mac nuts!! ;)
