View Full Version : Does anyone know if hot herbal tea is ok?
Or is this not part of the diet.
I'm used to drinking at least a cup of chamomile tea every day, but I haven't just because I'm not sure if it's okay. I can't imagine harm from it, but then again I'm surprised less often these days!

Rule of thumb? Hot to the touch is okay.
However, this life-style change is all about what is okay for you. I went very strict because I knew I had to. There are folks that drink hot tea and "break the rules". Do what YOU feel is okay.

It would depend on what your intent is with this food program. IF you want to be 100% then it would not be included ~ BUT, if you've got some good sunlight, you can do "sun" tea.
You might wish to do a search here as that question comes up quite often... usually with green tea as opposed to camomile/herbals.

I have been drinking teas, cleansing tea and chamomile and green as well. I let them sit out until they are just above room temp, it works for me.:) I try to drink them between meals on an empty tummy.;)Also, the ongoing question about it being RAW or not- is just that- no one knows its a grey area much like wine.

I consider myself to be 100% raw but I still drink teas. It is a personal thing and if it makes raw easier for you then do not worry about it.
Thanks for the feedback. Maybe I'll try to drink it at 111.9 degrees. :)
And you know what? The reason I used to drink it every day was because it would help my many stomach aches! Now that they're gone, I guess it's really not as important anyhow!

I drink de caff teas, but I eat one hundred percent raw food.
What are the reasons you are eating raw food? If you are eating raw food for the enzymes and all that it has to offer, that's great. Drinking hot tea will not ruin your raw food benifits.
I consider drinking tea a sorta a condiment of the raw food way of eating if you will. LIke a spice or seasoning... I would go crazy trying to find all spices and seasonings raw, so why would I worry about my tea all the time, too? There may be a few enzymes that would be comprimised by heating the tea, then again, which is more important to you, having hot tea or cooler tea with probably a few enzymes in it? Perhaps of little consequence, IMO>
I have asked this same question. Now, I am at peace with my tea.

I drink warmish to hot herbal tea every day, I go out and pick wild camomile or mint or both and bring it in, pop it into a tea pot and pour in warm water, let it steep then rewarm as needed on the stove, always keeping my finger in the pan, if it is too hot for my finger, it is too hot for the enzymes, so it is called finger hot.
I also add a dash of cayenne, which makes it taste hotter,
but if you love it and you want it, I say, "go for it"

I think it depends on how the herbs are processed. Yogi teas do all sun dried not heat treament.
Myself, as long as the herb is not heat treated, I make it into "suntea." I use the teas only for medicinal purposes not as a regular beverage.
