If money is not an issue the VitaMix is by far the best, fastest, easiest blender I've ever used. Something that used to take me a lot of time (10 to 15 minutes of start and stop) using my $89 blender now takes 20 seconds with ease in the VitaMix. I would also suggest buying it from Alissa, a good way to say thanks for this board.

I second Doe's post. I had an Oster, which was okay, but shoot! The VM does wonders! I love it!

A good friend of mine has a VM, but I just couldn't afford it. I found the Kitchen Aid Pro Line blender and have been a very happy camper. We had "blender wars" and they pretty much tied. The Kitchen Aid one isn't all that cheap either, but it's probably $150-200 cheaper than the VM.

I have a Cuisinart Smart Power Blender (thats it there in my avatar. Well, not my actual blender, but I did a Yahoo! search for a picture of a Cuisinart Smart blender and put it in my avatar). Mom's concerned that I'm going to break it with all my smoothies (she calls them "green slime!" :D) and I'm thinking about buying a VM.

I love my L'Equip blender. I borrowed a VitaMix to compare (before buying a blender) and my L'Equip does just as well and was cheaper!!
