Good afternoon, rawkers..

Is all carob raw? Or do you have to get special Raw Carob?

I checked out my local hfs and they had carob, which was actually quite cheap compared to what I'd thought.
I've always been very sensitive to cocoa and other heavy foods like coffee, fat and fried things, so I've been excited to try if carob is any different. If it is, I will have "chocolaty" stuff again, yay!

A lot of carob is roasted and will say if it is.

There's a noticeable difference too. You can get carob super cheap on rawfood.com and carob pods for like .50 there. Alissas is probably good too.

Carob pods are kind of a hassle to use but fun to try once.

Carob is very high in calcium but not nearly as good as cacao nutritionally speaking. ITs got like half the protein content, a fraction of the magnesium, and alot less of other things. Cacao isn't cocoa by the way, very different.

Speaking of carob. I bought some powder from Allissa and I noticed it has a sorta dirty socks smell. Is this right??

Thanx for your help here,

Millie

Oh good grief! Dirty sock smell? YIKES! I think it has a totally different taste then raw cacao powder, but never compared it to dirty sock smell.
