I've noticed over the last three days or so I wake up extremely thirsty every morning. Has anyone had any experience with that? I feel like I'm eating plenty of fruit and I drink at least three glasses of water during my work day.. not to mention I'm working out in the evenings around 8:00 pm for an hour and drink more water at that time as well (during my workout and after).
does anyone have any idea why this would be happening?
maybe I just need to drink more water right before going to bed?

I'm having the same problem. I drank a litre yesterday (4 cups) and I knew that wasn't enough, sure enough I woke up thirsty. I wouldn't drink it right before you go to bed though. But we need to drink more water during the day. Since we're just starting out and detoxing, we need more water to help our systems clean out. That's what I feel like it is.
Sooooo, here's to more water! :)

That used to happen to me when my diet was high in dehydrated foods containing flax. I eat more fruit now, and drink more water.
You eat lots of fruit, so perhaps you do just need to drink more water. :)
Sometimes this can be from something as simple as breathing through your mouth after you have dropped off to sleep - that can make the throat very dry! :(

First thing I want when I wake up is a big ol' glass of ice water. I practically run to the kitchen and then guzzle it. You're not alone. =)

Yep! Happens to me frequently. I feel that maybe all night not having anything to eat, my body is dehydrated. I personally don't worry about it.

You should always drink room temperature water. I leave a water bottle near my bed and drink whenever I wake up at night and the rest before I get up. That's the most water I drink.. Then I do a green smoothie for breakfast, and only water during the day if I need it.

I keep a bottle of water on my nightstand. :)

Ok - that conflicts with what a personal trainer taught me. Why room temp??
Bekla, the body can do nothing with either hot or cold food or drink until it has brought it to body temp. This takes energy that would be better used elsewhere. Room temp is closer to body temp than refrigerated.

What Doe said. Our bodies have to use energy to bring it to the proper temperature for our bodies.
Your personal trainer told you "ice water" because mainstream weightloss "facts" will tell you that because the body has work to bring the water to a proper temperature, you will BURN MORE CALORIES. So silly. I'd rather my body had the energy for other things then burning a couple extra calories.

Hi All,
Eight to ten glasses of pure water per day seems reasonable to me: if we're detoxing, we've got to rinse out the toxins, right?
I think I fall short of water I need, so I wake up thirsty every morning. Now I've made it a habit to heat a kettle of water and drink it as soon as I wake up. I have no problem drinking 4 mugs of warm water. Sometimes I squeeze lemon juice into it. (Then I wait a half hour before eating breakfast.)
Good Luck!

Being thirsty is a sign of dehydration. With a cleaner diet and higher enzyme factor, working out etc, I'd imagine you are detoxing even more efficiently than at then in the past. It may help to assist those toxins in the morning with a glass of lemon water or couple glass of water first thing to hydrate the body. We need the hydration to oxygenate our cells so they can work to their optimal level. You'll be suprised that our hunger may be mistakened for thirst often times.

And vice versa. We eat when we are thirsty.
One reason is that the hunger and thirst centers in the brain are located in the hypophysis, not only as good neighbors,
but more entangled "like a spagetti hank", as my professor said.
The signals can be conditioned to make a "cross-over".
It's wise to relearn to listen to your really thirsty and hungry signals.
Test it yourself.
It you feel hungry, try to drink water. Are you still hungry?
If you feel thirsty, try to eat something with a low water content. Are you still thirsty?
I discovered years ago that I often looked for something to eat, but in fact was only thirsty.

luna99, did you just recently go 100% raw? That may be why. It shouldn't last. If you stay raw and eat whole foods, you will find that you rarely need water. Eating food in its natural state as it's meant to be, you'll be getting close to all you require; supplementation being necessary in relation to your physical activity.
As well, any increase of salt, soysauce, etc., is going to add to thirst; the same for dehydrated foods (which most always have salt added as well, so even moreso).
Best,

i usually drink 1.5-2 litres of water with msm first thing in the morning, every morning. its good for doing a morning house cleaning. and then throughout the day i will drink water as i feel the need. but from what ive read you should take your body weight and divide it by 2 and thus the result will be the minimum number of ozs of water you need per day.
