I NEED HELP! My daughter has lupus and I have cancer. Our family wants to do the raw food diet to overcome these diseases but...my daughter is allergic to peaches, mangoes, plums, carrots, apples, bananas, grains and nuts. I am having a terrible time trying to come up with recipes for her. I don't know what to substitute for the nuts in recipes. Any ideas?

Oh gosh. I feel for you. Definitely eliminate those mentioned fruits and veggies, but how about seeds substituting for the nuts? Sunflower seeds? Pumpkin seeds? I hope others will help you too.

I agree to go with seeds. They are actually more nutrient dense anyway.
Also, there are a lot of fruits; try health markets and ethnic markets for fruits you may be unfamiliar with.
As well, berries are the most powerful foods one can eat and are high on the list for those with cancer, especially. Consume as much as you can.
Consume green smoothies, choosing a variety of greens. You don't need grains, and, in fact, it's better you stay away from them anyway.
I would also juice your greens (in addition to green smoothies) for your condition; you need the concentrated nutrients.
Consume a lot of vegetables. Use them to make your dressings and sauces with seeds, if need be. Don't do gourmet recipes.
Keep it simple for healing.

Lots of veggies! Personally I can eat a bushell of sugar snap peas in a sitting. Try a zucchini pasta with a sundried tomato (soak tomatoes for an hour, add some oil, some garlic, green onion, green pepper, mushrooms and blend to hell) sauce. Crumble pine nuts on top for a 'cheese'...yummy.

Oh yes! Green Smoothies are a must - they are very healing and quickly assimilates throughout the body.

I second the green smoothies. I agree that the more greens you can incorporate, the better. I have a friend cured his cancer (after he was given only 2 weeks to live) through the "Gerson Institute." The diet they recommend consists of 13 glasses of fresh apple or carrot juice per day (like one per hour) and then some cooked food, and then lots of veggies. They might even have some meat, I'm not really sure. They also have some sort of colonics thing to make sure the body rids itself of all of the toxins it's cleaning out. I think they have a website where there is more information. Maybe this diet is something you can do at home. This much be such a difficult time for you, and I pray that you will both heal.
Peace and Love,

You'll find after being raw for some time that she'll be able to eat these fruits, etc. It is not so much an allergy, but a system that is unaccostomed to digesting these particular foods. When the system clears up, the food can be eaten.

Hello there,
Go to the store (be sure to frequent asian markets if you have any nearby for more options) and buy every single fruit that is not on that list! It will be hard but it can be done. Dates would be a great option for her since they are very calorie dense and delicious. I recommend buying from The Date People, they are raw foodists, have delicious organic, affordable dates and ship them right to you. Their phone number is 760-359-3211.
Nobody NEEDS to eat nuts, if you are concerned about her getting fats (which you don't really need to be, but in case you are ;-) ) feed her avocado.
I agree that as she stays raw and her body heals, she should be able to tolerate these perfectly healthy (not the grains, grains are bad for everyone) natural foods. After a year or so of being 100% raw, you can experiment by CAREFULLY introducing a tiny bit of them (one at a time of course) and see if she can handle them.
You guys are on the right track! Raw can heal and does heal both lupus and cancer! Don't be discouraged! You can do this!!!
All the best,
Audrey

Thanks for all the advice. We tried substituting some sunflower and pumpkin seeds for the nuts. They're more bitter but I think with some experimenting we'll succeed.

I would focus on greens & green juices and the fruits you can have right now. There are plenty recipes without nuts too. I agree with Sharon, the alergies to fruits & nuts will go away.
