Just wondering if taking Motrin is stopping me from fully detoxing ? I have cleared out all other meds but due to neck pain it is the only thing I am doing wrong. I have not had much for detox symptoms but I am feeling really OUT OF IT !:( I even had trouble printing on paper today = feeling really useless. I have been completely raw for over 3 weeks now.:)

Hey, I successfully had acupuncture treatments to treat neck pain, no known cause, just years of tension and vertabrae not cooperating. Granted, I shelled out the bucks for it, but it was a good invesment for my overall health. Now I rarely need to go. But detoxing off of Motrin? yeah, I bet, I too have been guilty of popping a pain reliever when I'm detoxing, need to work and deal with people, but try not to. I suspect it's not good either.....

I have been doing some acupunture and massage but my neck is very bad so it only helps for awhile. I have read a lot of RAW books but never noticed anything about how to get off meds or how to take them while detoxing. Anybody know ? Also the 'out of it feeling'- is that a detox thing:confused:

I wish I could help you...all I can say is that I'm in the same boat. I am three days raw now and am having the WORST migraines. I've been taking motrin and wondering how it's affecting detox.. but I really just could not live without it. Sorry I can't be help... but if I find something about this in reading, I'll let ya know.

Motrin is a tricky one. My mom has been eating the 800 mg kind every day for years and I've been trying to get her to stop. She has carpal tunnel in both wrists and I truly think she is afraid to stop taking them.
Raw has been known to heal neck and back aches but healing time is proabably different for everyone. I would focus on eating the most nutrient rich foods you can find,(dark leafy greens, wheat grass, sprouts), because the more nutrient rich foods you give your body the more your body will heal. Then maybe you could decrease the dosage little by little.
Just some advice. I hope you feel better.

This I know about from experience. When I first started raw my first form of detox was the biggest most horrible migraine I've ever had in my life. I was detoxing all of the processed sugars I had been addicted to for so many years. I did not take any medicine because medicine does not cure headaches, it only suppresses them. The body needs to go through this in order to fully heal.

Thanx for trying to help. What I am dealing with has NOTHING to do with detox- meaning it does not come from that. I have had this problem for 15 years and massage/acupunture help a little. Everything I have read has not dealt with detoxing while on previous medication. I know Victoria Boutenko wrote, "the body stops trying to help YOU fix whats wrong, but instead trys to process and get rid of the the meds and uses a lot of energy to do so." I have read one of Gabriel Cousens books as well as David Wolfes and none of them have dealt with this directly. I have tried to stop for a few days while getting therapy and my pain goes from BAD to almost hospitalization. Then I take the meds again and have to spend 2-3 days recovering:( I just want to do ALL of this right, maybe I should look at homeopathic meds:confused:

I've had neck pain on one side for a couple of years now. I tried seeing a special chiropractor. It started to work, but I couldn't afford it after a while. It is called NSA, Network Spinal Analysis. They don't crack or pop you, but tap certain areas, it is painless, but you feel like you got a work out.
I still have the pain, it is worse right before my cycle. I cannot turn my head around fully.

What do you mean by neck pain? Strain? Once broken?

No really I was a headbanger.... Thats the only thing I can trace it to. I am 31 now but between 12 and 16 I was a drug addict and went to concerts and danced like crazy to the point where I couldn't lift my head the next day or 3. Crazy I know. Anyways I guess its kinda like whiplash. My acupuncturist says all my stress goes there;) It all lands around the top 2 vertebrae AND yes I have tried many different types of chiropractors and they only made it WAY worse= so I stopped. I cant afford to go to massage and acupuncture that often sooo meds is all I am left with.:( And Motrin is all that works.

I have had whiplash at least twice, and have also been diagnosed with osteo-arthritis/degenerative disc disease in my neck and upper back. So I totally understand your pain and need for Motrin.
Have you ever tried glucosamine/chondrotain for your neck? I have used it with great success, and rarely need Motrin anymore. It is a supplement that can actually help rebuild cartilage. It is probably not considered raw, but it is a natural supplement, and has no side effects.
You need to take the glucosamine for about 6 weeks, before you really notice a difference. But when it starts working, Wow! One brand that is well known is called "osteo bi-flex". I bought mine at the local drugstore. Or you can get it at Whole Foods. It is sort of expensive, but well worth the cost, in my opinion.
Motrin is hard on your liver, so if you can start to wean yourself off of it, all the better for your health and detox. The glucosamine might help you do that.

Searose, thanks I will look into that, maybe with an msm combo ! I used to give that to my hubby but he didn't stick with it for more than a month sooo he didn't benefit.

If I spend fifteen bucks on a drop-in for 90 minutes of Bikram yoga, I swear it's like the equivalent of acupuncture and massage for two days afterwards. The only problem is the studio is more than an hour away from my home, but I'm starting to get the neckache creep up on me, and it's either pain relievers, acunpuncture of fifty bucks or Bikram yoga. Other yoga just doesn't go so deeply into my body and get that healing effect.

You could get a DVD and crank a heater up in the bathroom to get it hot. That's what I want to do eventually when I get a personal DVD player. It would be worth the effort for me to save up the money for the player and DVD.
