Hi all!
I was just going thru Alissa's book, checking out all the dehydrator recipes (I just got my dehydrator yesterday ... woohooooo! :) ). I've found the recipe for broccoli and cheese. I was wondering tho' ... does dehydrating the brocolli make it easier on your system?
I'd tried the brocolli soup recipe, and man oh man, did my system revolt on me!!! I'd discovered that even tho' cooked broccoli doesn't bother me, raw just totally annhialates me! (It was an extremely uncomfortable and unpleasant evening!) But does dehydrating make it easier for those who can't handle raw broccoli?
Anyone else run into a problem with raw broccoli and have been brave enough (which I'm not yet! :D ) to try it dehydrated?
Thanks for any advice!

Hi Carolyn -- I don't have my book right with me, but I seem to recall that recipe uses nuts. I personally have to watch my nut intake -- too much kills my stomach. For instance, I can't take the Date Nut Torte or the Alfredo sauce because there are too many nuts. You might want to be aware of that. It's unlikely that it's the broccoli -- though, of course, each of our bodies is different, and the most important thing is to learn and listen to your own body. If, when I get home, I find that I was hallucinating and this soup doesn't have nuts in it, I'll edit this post!

Hi,
I didn't do broccoli and cheese, but I did do some mixed veggies in the dehydrator...broccoli, cabbage, and red bell pepper strips. This was marinated in olive oil and seasoned with my choice of seasonings. You could do garlic, onion, sea salt, herbs, whatever you liked on cooked broccoli.
I then dehydrated it on about 110 for a couple of hours if that long and yes, it is softer and easier to eat/digest. My husband and son loved it. I've also done corn this way as I find raw corn too sweet and too starchy.

Thanks for the replies! :)
Raw Truth - I've tried some of the nut recipes, and they haven't bothered me. But the broccoli soup sent my entire system thru the roof! It was extremely unpleasant. It may have been something else in the soup, but my guess was that it was the broccoli that got me. :( I'll have to try something else to see what happens. My mom suggested that I try the soup again to see what happens, but honestly, I'm afraid too! lol ... It was just a bit too painful! I think I'll wait awhile before trying that test! :)
Rawkinlocs - Thanks for the recipe! I'll give it a shot and see if my system handles dehydrating the broccoli better. :)
Penny - Thanks! I'm going to try it and see how it goes! I hate to admit I'm a bit scared of broccoli now! lol ...
