Very common detox. One of the most common, skin eruptions. Your pores will be letting all kinds of stuff out, which is irritating and will flare up. It shouldn't last more than a couple of days.
Best advice - keep doing what you are doing (staying raw that is), don't put anything on it, or take anything.

Itchy rashes like that? they look like hives?

My husband used to break out in hives until he cleaned his diet up.
Are you ALL raw? Have you ever broken out in hives or anything like this before, ever?
But yeah, you'd be surprised what can happen when the body is trying to clean out. Nora of rawschool.com said in her raw story that her body would detox and she'd get the worst cold sores on her lips. This was while being all raw and after a while, she didn't get them anymore.
I know it's frustrating - we all have different experiences when it comes to bodily cleansing episodes.

I would suggest taking a look at what you're eating - but please don't rule out that your body is having a cleansing episode.
To alleviate it, I'd say to just try eating very lightly until it passes. If you want to resort to external measures apply some tea tree oil to it.

Yeah...it may be the salt. That stuff has a lot of minerals in it that your skin may not be used to...but as others posting have said, it could be a number of things. To ensure that nothing gets worse...I'd just make sure you stick to foods you normally eat, in their raw forms if you can...and personal care products that you usually use.

Aloe would not hurt as it is soothing. I met a lady at our local co-op that has been raw for 60 days and she had a really bad rash break out on her arms and face. She thinks it was a detox reaction. Her lifestyle before was pretty toxic. She smoked at least a pack of cigs a day and ate lots of fast food as well as taking prescription meds. Sounds like you are cleansing pretty heavily or are having an allergic reaction to something.

Salt draws everything out of your pores. That's how one koshers meat, one coats it with salt, places the meat on a slant board, and it draws all the liquid out, carrying the toxins and bacteria with it.
The same things happens when you ingest salt, liquid collects and retains in certain areas (aka "swelling") in order to dilute the sodium chloride inside your body.
So what is happening is the salt has irritated your skin (some call it a glow, it's actually irritated) and you perspire, your body is attempting to flush it out...along with the perspiration and bodily fluid comes all your toxins, bacteria or what-have-you, which is causing all that irritation and swelling over the surface of your skin.
It is a form of detox, and you need to decide for yourself if you want to continue down this path. Same with the lemon juice, it sounds like it's an irritation to your membranes.
As for me, when I find something is not working or harming me, I stop doing it, or make a change.
You can apply ice or cold wash rags for the swelling, but it's best to leave it alone, drink a lot of pure water (no lemon) to flush it all out.

Thanks for your help. I did not ingest the sea salt water but used it as a face wash..could that have caused it?
Thanks again

Yes, as stated above, the salt on the surface of your skin most likely caused fluids and toxins to release from your pores resulting in the irritation and inflammation.

Do you think a water or juice fast will help alleviate this?
Thanks again!

What have you eaten that you don't normally eat?
Are you using a new fabric softener or soap or detergent or lotion?
Did someone spray something in the area where you were?
Did someone come in with a perfume or lotion on?
Since it's on your face and lips, it sounds like allergic reaction to food.
Did you eat a mango without peeling it?
New Nuts?
Write down everything you ate within 2 hours of that breakout.
Write down everything you were exposed to.
Drink LOTS of water to flush your system.
Talk to us.. I'm curious if you found out what it was.
Sometimes you just have to play detective.

Hi there,
Since the lemon water and the salt scrubs are they only things you have been doing differently discontinue them both right away and see if the problem goes away.
All the best,
Audrey

But isn't lemon supposed to be good for you?

Not every reaction like this is detox. Most of us don't have medical degrees! Don't rule out an insect bite or any of the suggestions RowanC had. If you begin to have trouble breathing, please go to an emergency hospital!

When you mean good for you, what are you referring to? Do you believe lemons have nutrients in them that other fresh foods don't? Lemons are highly acidic and you may be sensitive to them. It doesn't mean they are "bad" but you may be having a reaction to them.
If you are having adverse reactions to something, stop doing that something.
The purpose of water is to hydrate, not to nourish, so just drink it clean & straight up and get your nutrients through raw foods.
