O.K. fellow rawies;) ....apparently we are so dedicated to our workouts we have extended the length of our thread.......so we will march into March like lions and begin again! So, this is for all the runners and raw fitness freaks here to join in and report their daily workouts. We had intended to keep our thread going all year but that's o.k. and understandable! We will begin one each month starting right now......As usual, if you're "in" say "I" and I'll start a new roster! I know you're all there lurking!!! C'mon!:D

Well, I don't run yet I need to become *consistent* in my exercise and develop some workable routines.

This would be a great place to start eh?

We started an exercise + running thread in January which got too long so we will revert back to a monthly thread.....What was our suggestion? 30 minutes (average) per day your first month and increase each month 15 minutes until you reach your desired level of fitness. We have been posting our "goals" in our signature line (go to user cp and edit signature) and updating/revising as needed....

Personally, I am a runner and had started a seperate running thread but it was somewhat redundant to post twice so let's make this one one and the same o.k.?

Tips to get started. Don't start too big or go too long or you may just burn out too quickly! We are all in it for the long haul! If you want to improve your running or begin a running program I would love to help get you started and or keep you going. I am not a "personal trainer" (well I am a mom to 5 and a special education teacher so maybe I am after all! ) but "in my next life" I plan on returning to "school" to pursue the field of "optimal health and nutrition" so I like to dapple here!!!! At any rate, there are plenty of wise veteran exercisers here to seek advice from so go for it! We are all here to help. Let's try to build our roster higher than ever!

I am "up" now for my Saturday "long run" although I am still nursing the hamstring/quad/glute issue so "slow and steady goes the race"!!! I'll check back in later!;)

....did a "long walk" instead....walked 12+ miles on the treadmill...yes, a 3 hour walk....but pain free. FY be proud I am going to listen to my body and stop running for awhile until this heals. I am confident I won't lose fitness as I will walk swim and x-train too....+ use my infared sauna I have quickly been spoiled by!!!

Guess who's back? It's been a while, since Jan 20 to be exact. . . blame it on multi viruses on my computer!

But I'm back an rearing to go. I kind of took the month of February off, actually I was forced to -- I not only managed to get a blood clot in my leg, but I also managed to pull several back and neck muscles. Life has been wonderful!

My chiropractor told me not to do more than 10 or 15 minutes on the trampoline daily, then when I looked at him in total disbelief, as I was very proud of myself for getting to 35 minutes daily, he agreed to 15 minutes twice a day. And all of that was before I realized I had a blood clot!

I pulled my back and neck muscles I'm sure from my fitness ball and resistance band exercises I had just added to my routine.

Needless to say, I quit everything, except the desire to get fit. So one month later and I am ready to get started again! I am so ready to get rid of a few rolls I have discovered. :o

March 6th, and I'm just starting for the month. Better late than never.

This weekend, I was working a trade show, and I got 2 weeks free personal training, so I'm using that to jump start my exercising. This morning, I had my evaluation session, and he kicked my butt! It hurt to wash my hair in the shower afterwards.

So, today it was:
bench press
side squats
shoulder press
walking lunges
shoulder row
3 min each: elliptical trainer, uphill on treadmill, stationary bike
crunches

Yay! I'm going to walk at lunch time, too.

girlsmiley

Tuesdays and Thursday are *hard* days for me because I am up at 5:30 a.m. and don't get home until 10:30 p.m. so I have to figure out when I can get some exercise in ... I should keep some tennis shoes here at work so I can walk comfortably around the parking lot/building etc.

{{off topic}}...My 20 year old daughter has a shunt for hydrocephalus. Up until recently she had never had a problem with it....Well, long story short. Next Thursday she will be undergoing brain surgery due to a malfunctioning valve......The extent of her surgery is unknown until they "get in there"....So, any & all prayers, kind warm fuzzy thoughts for Kayla and hopes for speedy healing are all well appreciated. Her name is Kayla and she is our oldest of 5 children....She is a wonderful, beautiful young lady. We are very proud of her accomplishments so far in life and all the obstacles she has been able to overcome. We are confident that God will watch over her and bless her for healing. I just wanted to let me "cyber workout buddies" know about it all. Methinks the stress and anxiety of this is possibly wearing me out more than I realize???? I am feeling some RAW results!!! (I'm on raw day 12.) :D

For the past two days in a row, I have been able to run on the treadmill at speed 6.5 for 30 minutes. It wasn't difficult, in fact it was enjoyable! When I was finished, I felt refreshed, and not exhausted!

A week ago I couldn't go past 25 minutes at that speed, and even then I was so exhausted at the end!

Lets keep it going!

Tomorrow is a rest from intense cardio, and I will be doing 60 minutes of yoga.
Sunday will be a 4.75 mile run, with 30 minutes of yoga.

I "attempted" to run outdoors....slow and steady goes it...I shuffled along the 6.5 mile loop near my house at turtle speed...still nursing the multiple injuries but it was an exercise in mind over matter as I was and have been so tempted to "raise the white flag" and succumb to gluttony....sure do have the winter blues and so much going on I knowI am run down and need a break but running "is my happy hour" and as usual I felt better after than I did prior...so that is a good sign...I am adding more protein to my diet because I am definately lacking something. I started a seperate thread for that if anyone is interested. 2 of my kids have the flu too so I am wondering if my body is trying to fight it????? tickle inmy throat and tiredness in my bones....which is usually how I start getting sick to begin with....Yikes, can't be sick before Kayla's surgery so I am hitting the hay this afternoon early and recharging!!!! At least it's the week end and I can sort of "rest"...after shopping!
Happy trails to all....Don't let my BLAHS get you down, but at least you know I am only human!!!!

Methinks I have discovered part of my problem!!! DEHYDRATION!!!! I have been using the sauna + swimming + my usual "working out" and don't think I've replenished it....Well, my bf and I went for a 6.5 mile walk today and she brought it up.....well, I have been "pounding the fluid" since I got back and feel lots better.....I have also added hemp protein and spirulina to my diet.....Dehydration can cause a plethora of problems including fatigue, muscle aches, etc......silly me. Let my problem be a lesson my friends! I have also decided to WALK only-running will have to wait until I heal and this is going to be a crazy week anyway!

I didn't get a chance to do an aerobics tape as I planned yesterday cause I had company over from our small group from church. So I spent the day cleaning, and cooking and cleaning up again. Anyway, I did spend some time (10 minutes) doing floor exercises focusing on my inner thighs.

Weighed myself today and it looks like I have gained a pound. I don’t know how this could have happened as I worked out an extra day last week. I don’t know if it is because I started working out with weights instead of straight cardio or if it is the dehydrated pizza I have been eating. For the most part I don't eat a lot of dehydrated foods and I did notice my digestive system slowing down too (but I don't know why). This is the first time this has happened where I have gained weight on raw. O' well this week I will be laying off doing exercises with weights and concentrate on more cardio and see if this helps.

Diantha, how is Kayla doing?

Your energy and positive outlook is very inspiring .......continued prayers to you and your family ;)

Thank you for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers! Kayla is quite nervous (she's 20 after all so is fully aware of it all!) but we are remaining upbeat.....shopping for her hospital stay helped....I slept last night so that's good....We adopted Kayla when she was 9. Here's a little insight to those of you who have never adopted or have biological children and have contemplated adoption but decided you could not do it because your feeelings could never be the same....NOT TRUE.....Kayla and I could not have a tighter bond if she "came from me" and at times like these those same maternal instincts kick in.....I may not be able to reminisce her baby/toddler years as this operation looms but no one can ever replace the memory of her running across the yard the first time we laid eyes on her or when she first met my dad and charged into his arms screeching "hi Grandpa" (as he melted!)....No, God's children, our children, one in the same. Sorry to be so emotional....I just get annoyed when people don't understand and want everyone to have the insight into an adoptive parent's feelings.....and I am sorry I'm a little off topic here too ladies and gentlemen...At any rate MissL thank you for your thoughts....We have so many people praying for our family right now I can FEEL the aura of energy around us, no joking....

I am up to do another walk only right now. My hips are just ACHING at the joints, esp. after sitting. Today I have to sit in a conference all day so I'll be in AGONY later. I wasn't going to walk or anything this a.m. but figures I'd need to to avoid the monotony of sitting all day! I am going to see an endocrinologist myself on Monday to address my osteoporosis + low hormone levels. I am hoping she will order new blood work to test my hormones as they were done prior to going raw and I'm anxious to see if they've raised at all.....And I have to face the reality that I may need a Rx for osteoporosis because I cannot "afford" to lose bone mass at the rate I am.....Raw foods and all I still lost 7% last year alone and I am only turning 40 soon....Scary enough to weigh the options and face the facts......

so yeah, a lot on my mind thius week guys....thanks for letting me "unload"

Miss Linda - Have you ever tried that colon cleansing product Bryant sells? What do you think about it? I am interested in doing some sort of cleansing since my regularity isn't what it could be.

It's been a while since I posted but I have been exercising. Unfortunately, it hasn't been any training regime as I can't seem to get my booty to the gym. But I have been cranking up the utunes and dancing up storms for at least 1/2 an hour to an hour- think old school: hey mickey, i need a hero to newer ones such as Hips don't lie. lol. I love being an absolute fool! :p

Whew, I feel out of it....just had to read back and catch up! Thank you ALL for the prayers and happy thoughts. Kayla came home on Saturday afternoon and we have been "settling in" quite nicely. She is getting back to her usual spunky self....so our entire family is breathing a heavy sigh of relief! We ALL slept in yesterday and had a great night's sleep at that...Relief sleep is awesome isn't it? Yesterday I ran outside-forced myself actually- as I was "stuck in a rut" from NOT running for over a week between my injuries, fatigue and everything going on....I basically "forced myself back on the horse" yesterday and it helped. This a.m. my bf and I are supposed to run together in a little while. We never have before because I was always faster, etc....but with my injuries and all I have slowed WAAAAY down and don't care about speed right now....just looking forward to having someone to talk to while I run! Hope everyone else has a great day!

Hello All,

NF, so thankfull Kayla is doing better!

My houseguests went on Sunday, so Tuesday I had 30 mins circuit training to ease into exersice again, Same today. Then more abs.

The good thing is, DH went for a walk those two days too. That's why I stayed home and did a dvd instead. Good stuff.

I am very broody, I sooo want to loose those 30 lbs so I can have another baby! Baby Niki will be a year in a months time, come on weight, get off me!

I am proud to say that today, right now, I am in the best shape I have ever been in!!! :D

Some of it is due to going raw, and a lot of it is due to my motivation and diligent training!

My strength, flexibility, endurance, and confidence are at their all time best! And no doubt will they continue to improve with the way things are going!

I'm feeling so good, and I'm ready to run my half marathon in July with an amazing time!

Today's exercise:

AM: 30 min elliptical trainer

Noon: 30 min run (splits/speed training)

PM: Plan to do 30 minutes of yoga

Quite a busy week for me too rf....trying to get caught back up from putting career and ev. else on hold for Kayla....now, getting back on track like you.....yesterday ran 7 miles outside....little glute pain at the end and upon stopping but rested and saunaed today so I can try again tomorrow!!!! I am not to my running goals now either but must rest to heal or I'll never be back to normal...health issues/testing going on right now too so trying to focus on that too!
RF knows about this already but for the rest of you I have to "track" my nutrition on fitday.com and print it our for my endocrinologist since she can't fathom I am getting the nutrients I need...BTW, I do, and then some but it will be good to have papers to "back me up!!!" I am getting some testing done to see what treatments are appropriate for my osteporosis....This is a case where I am leaning toward Rx treatment since 2 years (almost) raw has not improved it....Forteo is a daily injection I am considering....anyone hear of it? It is supposed to increase BD 12% in 2 years which is about what I've already lost and I am "young" (40 in April!!!)...just can't mess around when it comes to my skeleton!!!! I have tried so many things! well, off to do lesson plans! I've procrastinated long enough!

:) I finally feel "back to normal! I ran outside in the fog this a.m. (eerie but too cool!) It was a 6.5 mile loop rounded out by a 1/2 mile walk on the TM when I got home and 30 minutes in the sauna. After school today I swam laps (44) at the YMCA...I feel like I am finally getting back ontrack. It has taken a while though! Whew! Where did everyone else go on this thread???
HELLLLLOOOOO????
Are you all out there? It's time for SPRING TRAINING! Let's get going!!!! We are finally seeing nicer weather in NNY....THE SNOW IS ALL MELTED!!! YIPPEE!!!
So for April I think our thread should be April Boot Camp, do you agree?
I don't know about you but March has been a LOOOOONG month, and depressing. Between the weather here and my chain reaction of injuries, it's been my least favorite month!!! But I am feeling on the upswing now and am ready to pick myself up, dust myself off and set some spring training goals! Are you in guys????
