Can I get some recommendations for brands of nut milk bags? Also how long do the bags last?
I want to use it for nut milks and straining juices. This morning I used cheesecloth just to try it out and it worked great, but is wasteful and could get expensive since I can't reuse the cheesecloth.

Alissa sells them at her store. Also, other folks have used paint strainer bags.

It doesn't really matter what kind. The purpose is to strain out the grains of nut remaining. Any old nut milk bag will do the trick...heck, I just use a regular tea strainer and it works just fine. My friend uses a sock...

Ooo a sock eh? Now THAT should make for an ummm...interesting flavor! :p LOL!
I use the paint strainer bags from Home Depot and they work like a CHARM! I've also had Alissa's nut bag and it's great! They can all be washed and reused for quite a while before they need replacing.

Oh you mean a knee-hi...yeah, I've done that one too! Before I learned of strainer bags and before I was able to get a nut milk bag, I bought a pair of knee-hi stockings and used those. They do work, but if you squeeze too hard, you can bust the stocking or cause a run which lets all the pulp seep out. Maybe doubling it would work even better, though.

Yeah, I guess that's what they're called...I'm glad not to sound quite so strange now...hehe

So I used the paint strainer bag this morning for my juice. It worked, but for me, it was dare I say almost as tedious as cleaning my juicer. First, I had a hard time getting the pulp out of the mesh screen (I like to save the pulp for crackers, etc...). See I have a juiceman jr. and the pulp is easy to get out because it just shoots into a bucket. Sometimes I think it leaves too much pulp though. Then I had a hard time getting all the little green bits out of the mesh when I was washing it. Hmmmm....maybe I should do a science experiment and time them both and measure the pulp output. :p I smile but I am serious!

I have a plastic tube for sprouting sprouts that comes with four different lids covered with different size holes. I use the smallest mesh lid and strain my nut milk through the tube. I have to use a table knife to swish the milk around a bit, but it separates beautifully. Easy to clean and doesn't need to be replaced.
I bought the tube at a healthfood store years ago, but they should still be available. The tube is about 10 inches tall and about 3 inches wide.
