i have seen some posts where people have said that they have found that some of the olives at their Wholefoods or other hfs are raw, just by inquiring at the store and/or looking at the barrel the olives came in.... but what are you looking for? do the barrels on the raw olives actually saw "unheated, unpasteurized?" i would love to see if our wholefoods carries raw olives rather than having to order online, but the workers there dont seem to be highly trained in whole foods necessarily (go figure....)... so what should i ask or look for if I am trying to get raw olives there....?
thanks

Most of the olives at food stores, even Whole Foods are not raw. You'd really have to get a hold of the jar it came in. I'd just stick with Adam's Olive Ranch and order olives from there. Alissa sells the Jalepeno stuffed Olives and they are soo good. Just Google Adam's Olive Ranch and go to town. My favs are the kalamata olives.

Thanks Free Energy...--thing is, sometimes I want instant gratification....sometimes you just want something right now, and I wish there was somewhere to actually go and get it instead of having to order and wait... olives arent something I can keep spare jars of around because the "spare jars" wont last, theyll get eaten right away... ;)

I get the little black shriveled ones with provincial herbs from the Whole Foods olive bar. They taste fresher to me than the canned kind, and don't make me mucusy, so I'm fairly sure they haven't been denatured. That's my own experience though and yours may vary!
I went to Whole Foods by my house and asked if they sold any raw olives. They said they didn't sell any.:( It makes me very sad cause I miss olives. Also I only like the black kind in the can. Ya know the more common ones.
