View Full Version : Maraw or others: Question about making almond milk with soyquick

Hi everyone,

I'm very excited about making my first almond milk with soyquick, but I have a question. The directions say to fill the small plastic cup 2 1/2 times with almonds. They will probably all fit into the filter cup, but how will the grinding blade fit into the filter cup with all the almonds in there??

Hi,

I'm not maraw, but I have one of these machines from her!

She recommended 3/4 cups almonds to 5-6 cups of water and that is what I do and it comes out great! When done add agave/honey and salt, if you choose too!

Don't forget to disable the heating element each time before you make milk.

Good Luck and enjoy,

Pansy;)

Hi is the heating element for the soybeans? So I guess soymilk will never be raw? I ordered a juicer that also makes soymilk. I hope I can make nutmilk in my juicer.

Nope. Soymilk is not raw. It should be able to make nut milk. What brand is it?

Thanks, but that didn't answer my question. How can you get the grinding blade into the filter cup when it's full of almonds?

I have not recieved it yet, but I bought the Jack Lalaine Elite power juicer. It has a built in Soymilk maker. I did not know a lot about raw when I bought it. Actually I still don't. It sure is a learning process! I am going to purchase a food processor next, but want to stay under or around $100. I have one picked out on the internet, but have to wait since buying the juicer. You see I have a reputation for being a appliance junkie. I buy something use it for awhile then give it away. My husband thinks this is the same thing. I can't really blame him because of my past track record.

Maybe you put the blade in first? Then add the nuts? Just like a food processor?
dunno

The blade is attached to the head of the unit. It is not detachable.

You only use 3/4 cup to 5-6 cups of water and there is plenty of room for the nuts. Just wiggle the cup gently up on the little blade. Once you have one you will see what I mean.

It goes on very easily!

Hope this helps,

Pansy;)

Sorry I'm just now seeing this. What Pansy wrote above is what I do. I only use about 3/4 cup nuts to the lower fill line. Turns out perfect every time. Just carefully wiggle the cup (with the nuts already in it) around the blade and make certain it is on right.

Let us know how it turns out!

Thanks for the answer to my pulp question. Has anyone ever tried soybella, just curious? Thanks

I'm so confused. I used 2 cups almonds & water to the lower fill line. I was making it mainly to make the Almond Bread. It seems like 3/4 cup almonds to all that water would be way too weak in flavor. How many cups of almonds do you use to get enough pulp to make the bread?

Thanks so much.

Mind you, I make this every day! I have a freezer full of pulp, and as of late, have little time to do anything with it!!

I've never tried putting that much in. I am sure the flavor would be much richer indeed. I'll give it a try tomorrow and let you know how it comes out for me.

Thanks for your responses. I guess I just have to get used to getting the blade down through the almonds.
To get richer almond milk, is it okay to use a full filter cup of almonds. Then clean the pulp out, put more almonds in and run the same milk through with new almonds? Do you know what I mean? I hope that was clear. It won't hurt the machine, will it?

May I ask? How's the milk? I too make almond milk almost daily -- the old fashion way. . .soak, peel, blend, strain and squeeze. I would guess to say that for 1 cup of almonds, I get almost that much pulp, really depends on how energetic I am in the squeezing department.

More questions:

Hhow much pulp do you get from 3/4 cup of almonds.

Is the milk grainy feeling?

Do you soak almonds first?

Peel?

Thanks for your input.

OK....I'm CONSIDERING buying a nutmilk maker, because I hate squeezing it through a nutmilk bag, but I also LOVE getting the nut pulp. It sounds like, from Maraw's post, that you still get pulp from using this machine? I hate to give up my almond pulp that I use to make "flour" with! (See Maraw's website for the BEST crust recipe EVER!!)
So, will I still get the pulp? AND is this machine hard to clean out....I wouldn't use it if I spent alot more time cleaning parts.....thanks.

Another question, in the picture, (at Maraw's site) it shows fruit in the pic. Can you make anything else other than nut/seed milk? I might be more willing to buy, if it made something else also. Just a thought.

So you can still get the pulp from the machine? Is it the same consistency as the pulp from the bag?

I'm so excited and I just can't hide it - oops, sorry, just singing along here. I'm getting ready to make my first batch of almond/brazil nut mylk - Maraw's suggestion. It was brought up earlier about the heating element. Do I detach it, turn it off, or what? Help, please????
TIA!!!

She answered me!

To disable the element each time, you need to press the motor button 4
times, then press start. This way is will not even begin to heat. I don’t
think you can actually remove it. You just want to make sure it never turns
on.
I do use only 3/4 C almonds when I use the machine. It is only when I don't soak the nuts that I have to use more. When I SOAK them, I only use 3/4 C. I just forget to soak so often that I
forgot that. Let me know how you make out.

Is there still pulp from the machine? I don't really like using bags, but I don't want to give up my almond flour either!

Yes, there is pulp leftover, which I dehydrated and will freeze until I get a good amount. Also, if you still have some small pieces of nuts that didn't get ground? Just dehydrate them and when ready to use, grind them up in a coffee grinder or blender.

You are so right with free shipping, it is THE best price around.

It literally makes nut mylk in less then ten minutes...! And it is so good!!! I was never much of a SAD milk drinker, but I have sure enjoyed the last two days of my almond/brazil nut mylk! YUM!!!

I agree, it was about the fastest shipping I've ever experienced! I think I got it in a couple days. Wow. Love it.
