Coming down off a nasty detox and 24 hour juice fast, I wanted something yummy, fruity and fairly light. Just threw some stuff into the blender and got a really great smoothie.
Dot's "Triple S"
2 organic bananas just getting freckled
10-12 organic strawberries, hulled
3-1/4" thick organic cucumber slices with peel
1-2 pitted, organic Medjool dates (optional, as needed for sweetening)
a bit of cayenne pepper for some ooomph (Go easy, as you want only enough to give it a bit of a buzz, not enough to fire it up)
Dump all into blender. Puree until drinkable or run in bursts if you like the fruit a bit chunky. Check to see if another date is needed.
Enjoy!

Sounds good, I have to ask though, how do you get the seeds off a strawberry without turning it to mush? Would it be ok just to throw em in there with the seeds on if we don't mind the texture?

Hmmm...well, I've always understood hulling a strawberry to mean removing the leafy part and a bit of the white center if it's hard and still greenish looking. But, hey, what do I know?
Heck, no, I wouldn't mess with trying to get the seeds off a strawberry.
Sorry if that was unclear.

yes, hulling a strawberry would mean to remove the leafy stem area. :)

Going to try this one DotfromOz ... Looks really good! I would have never thought of putting cucumber into it.
8 months into raw and I'm just now discovering smoothies!!! (I lead a sheltered life).
Been doing this one up every morning for a while now ...
1 huge navel orange (peeled)
1 mango (peeled)
1 ripe banana
that's it ... throw all in vitamix and enjoy!
Tonight I'll be trying a pineapple/kiwi/cantaloupe combination. I'll let ya know how it comes out.

lol woops ok I get it now. Here's what I'm going to put at the bottom of all my posts from now on in the food prep threads....
Disclaimer: Yes I am a guy, but yes I know how to "cook". However that does not mean I know all the terms associated with prepping things.
By the way, that's supposed to be funny. Guess I better just keep it in this thread lol.

Okay, Terry, that does it. You're getting a bill for my new keyboard. I've got to have ruined this one drooling into it.
Those combos both sound yummy-luscious! Don't have a cantaloupe, but I sure do have pineapple & kiwi. Hmmmm...I bet that WILL be a good combination. You will report back on how it turns out...that's an order, y'hear? :D

Made the pineapple/kiwi/cantaloupe smoothie tonight ... It was awesome!
I used about 2-3 inches of a fresh pineapple, 5 kiwis and 1/2 a cantaloupe. It filled the ENTIRE vitamix container, so there was plenty for everyone.
Well - golly gee, I was the only one here so had to drink it all ... :)
Cleaning out the fridge has never been better!
sorry 'bout that keyboard DotfromOz.

*scribbling like mad*
I always love new smoothie recipes. For me, the smoothie is the best part of raw. Fast, easy, 2 minute clean up, portable, etc. etc.
I'll definitely be trying these two in the next week. Thanks!
By the way, my favorite (for now) is pear-banana-strawberry.

I'm writing that one down ...sounds delicious. I haven't bought pears or strawberries in ages.
I'm actually IN the office today with NOTHING to munch on. Think I'll stop at Wild Oats on the way home and get the ingredients for this.
Thanks Autumn!
