Hey peoples!
Question, for those of you that shop at Wholefoods, do they carry RAW premade cookies, hummus and all that jazz? I called them yesterday but they were clueless. I'm tired of shopping at the same HFS.
Thanks!:)

i think it depends on which one you go to.
i know the one in austin had a whole section of raw only foods. with a nice cheesecake selection. but that's like the headquarters.

i think it depends on the wholefoods.... the guys in ours are CLUELESS.... i went in asking for Nori sheets and he tried to send me to the baking sheet aisle.... no kidding
My WF carries a little bit of raw food. They have these nasty kale chips that cost $12 for 4 oz. It was ONE SNACK. It really depends on which WFs you are shopping at. sigh.

The Whole Foods in Portland has some raw stuff. Luna bars, raw hummus, raw sauerkraut, some raw cookies. No raw coconut oil or really raw nut butters though.

Not sure where u live? But in Los Angeles, My whole foods sells the best Taquitos raw by Foodology, and carrot cake. Also this sandwhich on onion bread with the meat chunks of young coconuts dehydrated, looks like chicken. So good. I'm sure if you contacted certain raw food companies and requested that they have their products in your specific store, they would try. Foodology is one.

So far, I've been to 5 WF in the Bay Area, and they all carry pre-made raw cookies/crackers, some carry more than others.

I wasn't too impressed with the one in Portland Maine, they just opened 3 weeks ago.
maybe I need to spend more time looking, but couldn't find much raw in the usual sections, no bulk raw almonds, no agave at all, only Marantha almond butter ect...
Like I said, maybe I need to look more, but what a pain in the butt that is!!
Unfortunalty they are buying Wild Oats in Portland too(they bought Whole Grocer), so there goes my 2 favorite HFS!!
I'm going to end up buying on line alot more or going to the small HFS, but even then have to go to 3 different ones to get everything I need.

Whole Foods saved me tonight! I was having munchie cravings and went and bought 3 kinds of raw crackers. Expensive, but better than caving and eating cooked. Also mine hides the raw stuff in the bread section...so you may need to hunt for it. Ordinarily I shop at a vegetarian co-op (gotta love san francisco!) and they carry a small selection of raw prepared foods in addition to everything else, but they are very small and pricey.

WOW, ya'll have some nice selections. I'm suprised here in WA the green state our stores don't carry any raw premade items exept for Larabars which I don't care for.....the gorcery managers are telling me that they are trying to add raw food items in........ They were pretty clueless when it cam to the term raw vegan or raw foodist. :D

The one is St Louis has three types of Raweos, various types of hummus, fruity and savory flax crackers, various raw raisins and raw dried fruit, agave nectar, lots of things I can't remember all on one shelf thingy. I almost passed it by and boy did I hit the jackpot when I noticed it. At one time WF in Union Sqare had a prepared raw bar, but last time I was there they didn't. maybe they do it on certain days.

If you called and asked and they were clueless...I'd just go check it out myself if I were you. Chances are that they don't...but it could just be a case of cluless employees. There are a lot of those.

yeah, we're in the dark ages. Our wholefoods do not have "raw foodist" goodies --they said they are working on it. Meanwhile, I'm going to visit them anyway and cruise to the raw cafe and see what they have! If they have something worth my sense, I will freeze it until I'm done fasting :)

Aigcem, i agree with you about the portland, maine whole foods.
they do not carry any raw products that i found, even limited vegan stuff.
I frequent Lois's and Royal river and may ask them if they will special order stuff for me like whole grocer used to do.
I am sure the wild oats will be closing shortly also.

The one I go to in Thousand Oaks (So Cal) has quite a bit of raw stuff - I did notice the raw kimchee, and I buy raw oil, coconut oil etc... They also carry the raw flax crackers - I'll have to check out what exactly they carry as far as desserts and stuff. I don't really buy that stuff!

I visited one fo the Wholefoods up north in the nicer cities and it is huge! They don't have raw stuff yet. Although, I found a co-op that has a raw foods section of crackers, trail mix, Artisana products, other brands of nut butters, raw hummus, kimchee, sauerkraut,
THEN the gentlmen who works in the prdoduce dept, is a manufacturer of a local raw food company and hooked me up with his spiralina energy balls for FREE. I told him I was fasting so when I transition, I will give him the review. He also produces products from Hunza. My sis tried his white choc fudge square and she LOVED them! Eventuall he said he will have an official website of all his goodies!!!!

HOW TO GET PRODUCTS in STORES:
In a vitaminstore, a year ago in Amsterdam, I bought my first rawfoodbar,
and the only brand available I think in my whole country.
* I went to my rawfood-yoghaclub and let it taste, and now they are selling it there also in all the tastes available..A few girls discussed hoe wonderfull they taste, and it made me happy, just happy, nothing more, nothing less.
* I went to the biggest organic food store, spoke to a guy working there,
who was a rawfoodpionier in the U.S., (although this shop sells not much rawfood specialities and walks 10 years behind), let him taste the bar and he thinks he also is gonna sell this..
so:
* just take your rawfoodstuff to new stores that you believe in,
* and let them taste,
* tell why this product is unique and high quality and better than comparable articles they sell,
* and say that it is megaselling in other stores,
* and they will probably sell it. You create your own rawfoodenvironment.
It gave me a better feeling than working 10 years for a bank...:D

My WF has a raw non-perishable section (bars, cookies, crackers, nuts, cacao, etc.) but I find the prices ridiculous. Those of us with dehydrators can make this ourselves at a fraction of the cost.

I keep inquiring about raw whenever I go to the Whole Foods nearest me. They don't have anything other than LaraBars right now. I think the next time I order some raw chips I am going to take them to the manager at a local healthfood store here in my town and have her try them.
I think I would do a literal flip if I walked in and found raw chips and bread in Whole Foods.
