I got some broccoli in my last food box and decided to make Alissa's Broccamoli. It tasted great, with the addition of some salt and a bit more lemon.
But OH MY GOSH... I almost stunk myself out of the house yesterday. I've never had so much gross smelling gas in my life! It lasted about 4 hours and was just horrible. I had to keep a candle burning so I didn't kill myself.
That is one recipe I'll never make again... I apparently can't digest it.
Maybe they should use broccoli to fuel cars? :D :p

YOU WHAT? You lit a candle? Are you crazy? Good GOD! You wanna blow yourself up to timbuktoo???
I've had that before. Thank goodness it's only me. Well, and my two dogs, who just keep smiling and following me around. Like I'm one of them!! HA!
Broccoli is a gasy veggie. Maybe could be a little detox going on too?
Just one word of advice.
DO NOT LITE ANY MORE CANDLES WHEN GASEOUS!!!
I value your input to this message board and don't wanna lose you!!!;)

Well, to impart a little something I learned in nutrition class...
All those wonderful microbes we want to encourage to live in our colon, weeellll, they live on fiber....like say ... broccoli... and they say "thank you very much" by producing some valuable vitamins, energy, and well...gas. We make good use of the vitamins and energy but we have no use for the gas, at least until we learn how to bottle it. So, being gaseous is actually a good sign...it means your colon is well populated by very happy little organisms that are helping you get the most from that broccoli.
If that doesn't help aleve your distress...you might want to invest in some gas masks...one for you and one for anyone within a mile radius...:p

you guys are too much!!!
I think when you become more used to it, and more detoxed, your body will handle it better. That is one of the nice things about juicing..lol...you do not have to worry about that...:o

ROTFLMBO!!!!
I made the Broccoli Soup on Saturday and *whew* it got pretty smelly!
However, I have a candle warmer thing that melts the candle and gives off the scent - rather than burning a candle ... LOL :)
Gotta love all the *honesty* on this board ... helps remind us that we're not the only ones that "suffer" through things ...
Thanks for the great laugh RowanC! :D

I know what you mean. I've been extremely gaseous for a MONTH!!! The boyfriend hasn't kicked me out yet, but he did jokingly wear a doctors mask when he tucked me in last night. I've been saying I'm going to combine better, but I am so addicted to my asian salad and spirulina smoothie. He says I smell like garlic.

I get VERY gassy with broccoli, but I love eating it SO much that it's worth it.
My family is very open and accepting of gas :p
(We say "bless you" every time!)

Yes, I second what VFL said... Please don't blow yourself up!! :D

This post is so funny! Odd you mention it, because just the other day, my litigation partner was telling me that if I ever ate broccoli again before one of our cross examination prep sessions, she was gonna kill me. LOL. :D
