View Full Version : No Detox?

I have been eating mostly raw since Ash Wendnesday, but I really have not had any symptoms of detox. I read about some who have had terrible symptoms! I had a little bit of headache when I cut out most of my caffiene that lasted a day or two also I could not sleep those two nights. Am I not eating raw enough to detox? I did lose 1 lb. Here are some of the things I have been eating:
Bananas, oranges, strawberries, red grapes, apples, chopped dried dates
lettuce, cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes, green beans (al dente), onion, corn on the cob (al dente), baby carrots
canned almonds, canned white Macadamia nuts
water, green tea, soymilk, two or three coffees since starting
natural peanut butter w/jelly on 1 slice of whole wheat bread (not everyday)
garden burger on 1 slice whole wheat bread (not everyday)
I am not complaining because I mean who wants detox symptoms, but I want to make sure I am doing enough to detox. P.S. I am not worring just wondering!
Can anyone give me any suggestions? I have ordered a juicer and plan to make some green smoothies. Thanks in advance for any advice you might have!

I didn't really have any detox either. Well, not like some I've heard about. But then again, I was Vegan two years prior to going raw and before that Vegetarian for 26 years. I've had weird little blurps now and then. Like feeling like I'm coming down with a full-fledged cold. Sneezing, aching, etc. Then waking up the next day feeling fine! Some days my system really house cleans if you know what I mean :p So...just let whatever your body is gonna do - do.

-If you are not having enough of a challenge for YOUR taste, you can try cutting out all/some of the processed foods in your diet....and just stick close to fresh raw fruits & vegetables that you love. Good luck and success to you!

I do plan to cut out the veggie burgers, whole wheat bread, jelly, and switch my natural peanut butter for raw nutbutter. I am thinking about keeping the soymilk, but start making my own when my juicer is delivered. It is suppose to make soymilk and nutmilk. If I like almond milk I will probably make that instead. Is there a replacement for jelly? I am using up my real fruit preserves now. I know that they are not raw. I do not have a dehydrator so I guess bread is out until I can buy one. I also do not have a food processor, but I do have a old blender that I once used to make frozen drinks. I don't know if I can actually make anything with it or not.

There are raw 'jam' recipes floating around here - somewhere.
Your blender? You can whip up some green smoothies!

Personally the first time I went raw which only lasted 3 day I felt tired and sick. Then for the next 2.5 weeks I went back to SAD but started upping my fruits and veggies until in this one month I had more fruits and veggies then I probibly did in 2 years (raw anyways). Now my second time around doing 100% (on day 6, but had to small slip ups with some pesto sauce but I'm not gonna focus on that) I haven't had any problems. So I don't know honestly. I'm hoping it'll be pretty smooth and just putting that energy out into the universe that it's not hard (everyday i wake up i think about how easy eating raw food is). Good luck on your path and much joy :)
No detox here either. I started feeling great IMMEDIATLY. Not a bad surprise! :D

Well, I'd say you are eating enough canned and cooked foods to not have too many detox symptoms
I've gone 100% raw several times, and the first time, detox was truly miserable, then the next, not so bad, the next, not bad at all, the next, no detox, so either I was detoxed out (hard to beleive) or I was more used to it, or I thought of it as a healing, instead of as a challenge, or......??? who knows
anyway, I'd be happy you aren't going through a bunch of misery, however, if you wish to detox faster, you may wish to release the canned foods, bread and garden burgers, maybe one of each a day? or one kind each day or week?
or whatever you think will work for you.

I went 100% raw almost two weeks ago and no detox as of yet. I'm vegan so that might have helped and I'd cut out processed foods about a month before going raw. I felt great.
