I really don't want to buy these for my dehydrator b/c in 4-6 months I want to buy a better one. A cracker recipe I want to try says to dehydrate them on mesh sheets.....is there something else I can use in the meantime? Parchment paper or something? Something that wouldn't mess up the recipe?

Parchment would most likely work.

You can't dry crackers on mesh, they're too wet and you wouldn't get them off the mesh. Parchment or Teflex is where most people will begin the drying process. After they are partially dry, then they are moved to the mesh so the air can circulate through the whole thing. Be sure to turn them over if you're not going to use mesh.

Lately, I've been using "Press n Seal" with my "hole in the middle" dehydrator. I can just tear it right off the roll, press it on the tray, wrap the edges around the bottom and use a knife to cut an "X" in the middle where the hole is.
Parchment paper has to be cut to fit my round trays which is a pain; but it might be more convenient to use on square trays and is probably a more "natural" choice.
