Hi,

Well, I'm feeling EXTRA crappy today. :D haha seriously. I got my first colonic last night. My stomach is still hard and bloated as a rock. She told me I really need to take omega 3 oils to loosen things up for the next time (Saturday- I'm doing a series of 8, is that too much?). She gave me some names of herbs to get too, but I thought I would ask you guys first in case you have any ideas. Also, I have a colon cleanse that I bought right before I started raw. It's all organic herbs, in pill form of course. Do you think that would be too much if I took that as well as did my series of colonics? I KNOW I am backed up really bad because right before this I was trying an Atkins kind of diet, so lots of RED MEAT. LOTS. And I'm feeling soooooooooooo crappy. Like I have the flu. Body aches, on and off sweats and fever feeling, extreme fatigue. I woke up this morn. to go to class, sat on the couch for a second and fell asleep only to wake up an hour later and realize I missed class. I also have IC (interstitial cystitis) and it's flaring up like crazy!!!! Bad bladder and urethra pains. I usually don't get this bad unless I drank alcohol. (which I barely do out of fear for this pain.........:( ) Anyway, I guess my questions are, will the clenase and 8 colonics together really help move this detox stage along, or is that too much? Is there any oil that will help move things along naturally? I really need help here. It's been 17 days and every day getting worse!!!! I want this to be over with and I don't feel like I eliminating enough on my own (you know, #2)......HELP!

Honestly - I think it would be too much at one time, you at least need to spilt the stuff up if you're going to need them both. Also you need to make sure you aren't getting dehydrated, and seriously the oil + fiber will help you. The cellulose found in fiber is non digestable by humans which is why it cleans our system out and the oil will help things come out a little easier. And of course drink tons of water so you aren't dehydrating yourself.

On another note.... atkins is soooooooooooo horrible i'm very sorry you put your body through that. My co-woker did that and when she had a tumor on her neck that diet made the tumor grow to a massive size. Cancer loves the red meat.

I just want you to be safe along with dehydration you do not want to damage yourself internally with taking sooo many things to move all the gunk out. Be careful:)

Thanks for replying......yes I know I was killing myself eating all of that red meat. I get so sick thinking about it...really sick I want to cry. I will never touch that stuff again. I was talking to a guy who was also getting a colonic last night at the naturopath center and he said he did an atkins diet too and that's why he's on his 5th colonic now. He's also back to a veggetarian diet.

Okay, I will get myself some flax oil today on my break. And when you say fiber, do you mean like the green leafys? I'm not even hungry today I'm feeling so bad. That's not like me at all.......I get scared that I hurt my body so much with the red meat that I'll never get that gunk out....it's so scary......this is not a good day.:(

Personal opinion....

Not unusual at all to feel bloated from eating so much meat. Meat generally takes about 10 days to leave the body.

the way you react after one colonic, 8 is too many. Like the aboue poster said, doing too much, can actually aggrivate your symptoms more and overwhelm your digestive process which includes the bowel.

You may want to refrain from colonics and do a simple easy approach like eating softer foods that are colon friendly. On that mos of us seem to benefit from is having a nice glass of warm lemon water in the morning. Spinach is EXCELLENT for the colon and stomach terrain. Bananas help ease the canal.........grapes too. You need the enzymes and fiber from the foods to clean the reamer! Plenty of fresh air and EXERCISE too. :)

btw, if you don't have an appetite, dont' eat..........in fact try to not eat for twelve hours but stay hydrated.

I just feel like NOTHING will move me because I ate SO MUch MEAT! I'm so mad at myself......even when the doc. was massaging my stomach, not too much was coming out and she kept saying, it's so hard! It doesn't want to go anywhere! So I feel like eating the correct foods is going to take months for me to feel better, or longer! And I don't have the time for that......my life is like on the backburner now, school, work, chores...I can't concentrate....and I don't want to add in any cooked food because I know that will slow the detox and I just want it OUT!!! So I should really not get the colonic again? Or maybe wait a couple weeks? She said I should have two more within 10 days from yesterday.......is she wrong? But yeah, it was not a good experience. I mean, it wasn't bad last night, but this morning I felt like death. Like I got ran over by a truck! I want to crawl in my bed and stay there until this is over.........:(

(((((don't worry things will start moving ))))

that's not an unusual reaction to colonics at all. When I do home enemas, I generally sleep for an hour. Doing the 8 may be a little to much....imo.

Have you considered doing a home enema? Powdered magnesium is also great to ge the bowels stimulated too.

Massaging the lower back close to the spine and the inner part of the hips stimulate bowels too or at least will help.

;)

Thanks for your replies. It's not that I'm not going. I am at least every other day.....(sometimes every day), but it's only once and it's generally not a lot. I always feel like I'm not completely emptied. And since the whole meat thing, I just have this permanent swollen stomach. Like I know that's the meat just sitting there, stubbornly. It's so depressing......but I guess I'll try see how the flax oil works and hold off on the colonic for a week or so. My back hurts and everything, like the whole area around my intestine.

NO, that's GREAT NEWS!!! Going once in a while is better than not going at all. When my bowels were really bad, I was going once a week if I were lucky :D No joke :)

If you have never used flax oil, take a little at a time, for some, it can be nauseating. Have you considered not eating for twelve hours?

hahah thank you misslinda!

I've fasted on water for a day before.....and I guess it helped a little....this morning all I had was a banana and arugula smoothie...I was thinking about just drinking smoothie and juice and water today. Will that help? I don't know if water fasting today is the best thing because I have a lot of studying to do and class again tonight.....maybe I will fast on Friday because I have no class just work...but you're right. I've been worse off too. I used to not go for 3 weeks at a time!   That was bad. But then again, my stomach wasn't so 'pregnant' with meat back then.....

I guess what I'm trying to ask is, if I just add the flax oil in my diet, and just wait it out, will things REALLY clear up? I mean, will I really be normal again? haha I know your answer. But I've read so many good things about cleanses and colonics so I wonder if that would totally help speed everything up....I'm just so hopeless right now. And I miss my flat stomach.

In giving colonics, I've rarely seen improvement after one. Do at least 3 and then make a judgement. Magnesium supplementation really helps...take in the evening with a big glass of water. Our digestive tract is ruled by the autonomic nervous system, the parasympathetic side that also controls relaxation, sleep, cell repair. You need to relax to have a good BM and colonic. Focus on deep breathing and on the fact that you are helping your body rid itself of past toxic intake...stop being mad at yourself. Right now, you are in control to help your beautiful body...relax.......

Thanks rawlee. Do I need to get a specific flax oil and magnesium supplementation? I mean, are there kinds considered 'raw' or will anything do? I don't want to take something that might make it worse and I don't want to put anything too foreign in my body....

thanks for your help!

LOL, I know the "pregnant" look is what makes bloating the worst but it WILL go away. Only my opinion but since you just has a colonic, perhaps treat yourself to nice smoothies where all the fiber and nutrients needed to get the bowel timing corrected. But if you body is craving the oil, go for it. I don't want to tell you what to do.....just don't do too many things that will throw your digestive system off. The digestive system is sensitive and when it is off, it likes simplicity.

No matter what, keep stretching--go on your stomach and raise yourself with just your hands and feel the stretch in your hips/stoamch.

there's a squat exercise I do that tonifies the colon. Stand at a counter-waist level. Hold onto counter and squat and bounce a little and then back to standing position and repeat. ;)

You will be fine.:)

Okay, thanks for all your help!!! This is what I'm going to do. Take it easy today. Just have easy easy easy to digest smoothies and juices. Maybe watermelon for dinner? (That's easy to digest, right?)....and as soon as these colon pains go away, I'll start the flax oil. Right now, it hurts really bad to just touch my stomach, so I'm going to leave it alone for a little while.

I can't wait to be ME again!!!

I grind my flaxseeds, so I'm not too familiar with the different brands of flax oil. I take a magnesium called oxy-powder (sounds like a detergent, doesn't it? :) ), but you should be able to find a good quality supplement at your health food store. The exercises Miss Linda recs are also good. Don't under-estimate the power of massage and exercise in helping your colon with peristalsis. You can also massage your belly, starting around your waistline level, start from right, across to left, down a bit...always clockwise. Start with the 'heel' of your palm, with a wave-like motion of your hand.Sometimes it's easier to do it lying down. Deep breathe, beautiful music...relax

I've used this - I'd recommend it. It liquifies everything and lets it all come out as water the following morning. Start on a weekend though so you don't have to go anywhere in the morning, as the urge to visit the bathroom can be quite strong. You'll get used to how your body handles it and be able to tweak it yourself with regards to timing etc. It's not like an ordinary magnesium supplement, it's magnesium oxide. If you have weak stomach acid, take it with lemon juice in water. And don't use any other colon cleansers at the same time - as mentioned before, that would be too much.

Re: flax - I actually take about a tablespoon of whole flax seeds in water if I want to move things along, no need to let them go all gloopy in the soak water, just drink them back, a straw helps. Works like a charm.

Well, I feel a need to post on this thread, even though I've never had a colonic, nor will I.

and this is why, they are not something that would happen naturally

they are foreign to the body.

there may be hundreds if not thousands of people who say they feel better after them, but I'm not convinced that it is because it is good for you.

no where in nature is this natural, no where is it something that would happen wihtout tools of some sort, even an enema bag,

so, if it were me, I wouldn't do it, I'd just fast for a while, or takin in only fresh fruit made into a puree, allow that to move through your system naturally

I wouldn't even make a juice, as that removed the fiber

when I'm not feeling well, I always crave melon, and it always tastes super good.

I'd do that, eat melon, fresh ripe, succulent, juicy, honeydew, cantaloup, etc.

make is super liquidy and super tasty, then allow your body to heal, don't force a bunch more gunk in there, especially backwards, YIKES!

OK this is probably rare but I have read where the colonic forced the bad stuff further in. I think I read it on here.

I used to use the brown flax seeds. Just chew up a spoonful of them. That was when they were really cheap. Needed to be a weekend when I could stay home - because the response was uncontrollable - I would explode.

I love my slippery elm bark powder. It loosens you and clears you out. I have recommended it all over this forum. Make it as a tea. I used this on my dh after anal abcess surgery this last year. He finally agrees that it is much better than anything from the store.

Please no pills. I suppose the gelcaps for the oil would be OK. I keep hearing about pills not digesting and loading up in the stomach. There are many good authorities here and Miss Linda is one I like to pay attention to.

Hot water bottles and massage the area when it feels alright.

Walking is wonderful for this problem. Even though it hurts you need to do it as much as you can.

Apple juice freshly made can make some people go. It cleanse the liver also. Some people get diarrhea from this.

Dried apricots get me going.

Too much fresh carrot juice can get me going.

I think the key word with all the juices is that you have to make them yourself. If they are not fresh they have binders or something that keeps the pulp from settling - keeps the juice from separating - and what is that going to do to your problem?

Along with everyone else'[s good advice, I would only add one thing. You made numerous statements about eating meat as the reason your stomach is in the shape it's in. I know this is a physical reaction you're having but I think forgiving yourself and not blaming yourself is also the way to go. Accept yourself and let it go!!

Hi,

I agree with all of you. I'm just going to leave myself alone. haha, in many ways. I mean, I'm not going to beat myself up anymore because I'm on a REALLY GOOD PATH NOW and I CAN ONLY IMPROVE FROM HERE. Also, I'm not going to do the colonics anymore. Last night, I had a salad for dinner (I don't know if that had anything to do with it) but my insides starting hurting 100 times worse!!!! I mean, sooooooooo BAD!!!! I felt like everything, all the intestines in my stomach were swollen. It was HORRIBLE! Usually, if I drink any alcohol, EVEN WINE, the next day, I have the big "D" and then this 'intestinal pain' comes back. It's SO SCARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've been to the hospital for it. They never test me past my blood and urine though.....and then they just tell me it's my colon and to go home and rest.......so that's what I've done after this pain. It's not just drinking, because I like NEVER EVER do (because of this pain) but it's like, any time that my insides are tampered with, or I go A LOT, this happens..........But what I DO find interesting is USUALLY it lasts for DAYS! LIKE 3 OR 4!!! Where I have to miss work and school because sitting in a chair hurts.....anything pressing my insides hurts, unless I'm sleeping and then I don't feel it.....but THIS TIME, it only lasted ONE DAY. Maybe because of my clean diet now? Anyway, anyone else ever have this pain? It's so scary!!! Very.....very weird!

Well, I'm not taking anything anymore. If I'm bloated, I'm bloated, BUT I JUST DON'T WANT ANYMORE PAIN! I mean, my body has to de-bloat eventually, right?????? I'll try some of your ideas. Today, just gentle fruits and smoothies. Maybe tomorrow too. Then after that, I'm going to try the flax oil. Or does coconut oil work? Something natural though. I mean, even the herbal pills were STILL MEDS, right?

Ahhhhh, you live and learn I guess.:(

GREAT WINNING ATTITUDE AND OUTLOOK

Herbal pills????? What kind???

That lower left side pain is the small intestine-colon is about 25 feet long if I recall. Not uncommon at all for digestive issues --especially if you are backed up.

Do you take any probiotics IF you want to supplement OR have you tried including feremented foods in your diet? Feremented foods provide good bacteria that is crucial for the small intestine and aids in colon health.

Great to hear and see you are chipper!

Hey Misslinda!

Yeah, today, I woke up and I felt so much better than last night....it was really bad. So what kind of fermented foods are there? Well, I know you can ferment nuts....I bought some from JUBBS here in NY and it was a cheese spread with flax crackers! OMG! DELICIOUS! But I ate the whole thing in a day!!! And don't nuts make you more clogged if you overdo them? I don't know. I loved it but it was really expensive too. I spent 65 dollars there for food I ate within 1 1/2 days! Well, maybe because it was so good too and I couldn't stop eating til it was gone......:p But I do have acidopholis at home. The Pearl kind....

Anyway, today I put some coconut oil in my watermelon smoothie......will this help? I thought it couldn't hurt because I keep reading about how good it is!

Oh and the herbal cleanse is called 'First Cleanse' It's supposed to be free of all common allergens, organic and free of fillers and things like that........Ever heard of it? It's the same company that makes that I.B.S. cleanse.....with the big sun on it?

Hey you!

In light of your "bloatedness," dehydrated foods will contribute to bloating as they are void of water and harder to digest. There are a variety of foods that are fermented: sauerkraut, kimchee & rejuvelac. They have qualitites that invigorate the colon and are very beneficial.

Goodness, you made that cheese spread sound sooooooooo yummmy!!!!!!!!!!

To maxamize your digestion --only my personal opnion and not telling you what to do, I would follow the food combining principles until you feel you can handle more complicated foods. Melon are one that should never be combined with any other foods ( food combining principles )b/c of it high water and diurectic effect.

Yes, I am familiary with it. I personally have not used it as I don't like the many herbs combined in one but here are members here that have used it. Remeber if you do a good clean sweep, best to replace the good bacteria. Greens are beneficial for colon and rebuilding the stomach terrain so the good bacteria will survive.

:)
