There are only three more days of the February challenge, and you know what that means... it's time to get geared up for the March challenge!
First, congrats to everyone who made it through February (I made it 17 days). Now, who's with me for a March challenge?
I've been inspired by those on the February challenge thread who posted what they ate every day, and I plan on doing the same for this challenge. I am so pumped! I always think of March as the beginning of spring -- time to do a little spring cleaning not only in your house, but in your body. As we watch the great outdoors come back to life with the beginning of spring, we can share how we are coming back to life with our 30 (ok, 31) day raw challenge. Woot.

I'm up for the March challenge too.
yesterday i had all raw except a piece of bread.
i'm ready to do it one day at a time.
today i've eaten
leftover chocolate mouse for breakfast!
3 portabella mushrooms with alissa's marinara and nama shoyu
baby handful of nuts
tea (i'm going to keep the tea passion in me!)
i'm realizing i need to have more greens so i'll make at least a small green smoothie with banana or apple or frozen fruit most days. maybe i'll have that for dinner

I am all in for March! Let's do it - 31 days :)
I started my own 30 raw challenge on February 19th along with my husband, his brother, and his sister-in-law. It has been a fun start!
I have been 100% raw since I started and I'm not looking back now!
I am so excited for this week because I am getting in a large order from nutsonline.com and an order from alissa's website (carob poweder, nori sheets, and olives) AND I'm getting my dehydrator! So I am pumped and ready to try all kinds of new recipes and enjoy life being 100% raw :D

Hopefully this time I will last for the whole 30 days...since I tried this a couple of times and lasted only 10-15 days...I love eating raw, but its just so hard with all the cravings and all the people around me who are just indulging whatever they want...
I want to succeed!!!:)

ok. my mom showed me the book, and looking through it sounds cool. I'll try it for the month. Gotta do some shopping first. Anybody got a good list for me that I can pick up at Wal-Mart or Meijer's? I don't have a health food store near me. Plus don't have a lot of money.

I'm a little nervous - but after seeing all my fotki friends raw dish pics in her album (http://public.fotki.com/snownoir) i am convinced that I can indeed do this :)
I have a HUGE stash of fruits and veggies in my fridge now, so I will actually start tonite preparing things to eat for this week, since I have midterms (grad school) and I am a little stressed this week.
Is there a sample 3-day menu that I could follow? I have a blender, cofee grinder, and food processor. Havent got Alissa's book yet - Cant wait!

Hey all, I'm new to the boards and fairly new to raw food. Have been almost 100% vegan since November 2006, and have LOVED it! Lost about 8 pounds, but lately my eating habits have been yucky. Bean burritos from Taco Bell. Argh. I have experiemented with going raw, longest was 3.5 days and I felt fantastic. Not sure why I couldn't stick with it - a lack of variety perhaps? Need some simple, kid-friendly recipes to get me started. Have been curious about raw for a long time, saw Serene Allison's video and that got me pumped up about it.
March is my birthday month, so this will be my BDay present to myself!
Good luck everyone,

Go to your library to see if they have any of the books recommended by others here in these forums. Do a search and see if you can't find some titles. Request your librarian to buy some of these books if they don't have them in stock. BE PUSHY!!! I know (back in my day) if they had Madonna's "S*x" book in school libraries, they should carry RAW books!
I know Alissa's book and DVD are difficult to find used, but one of the first books that I bought is "Raw Food Made Easy For 1 or 2 People" by Jennifer Cornbleet (pretty reasonable). I like this book because it's a 'starter book' of sorts and all she uses is a blender or food processor for her main recipes.
Of course, stock up on fruits and veggies for the 30 day challenge...and try a green smoothie for your breakfast, there are plenty of great recipes for that here!
P.S. welcome!!

I love raw foods, and practice a vegetarian lifestyle but need that feeling of clean, vibrancy, and wholesomeness that the raw food diet offers. I have done the raw food lifestyle once before and fell off the wagon a month or two ago...need to get back on track to a better lifestyle.

Hi all,
What would you suggest I eat for the first day? I think Alissa's book gives you all the food to buy for the first week but does it tell you what you should eat each meal for each day of the week? I need some structure...
Does anyone have a good 1st week plan that worked for them? Ive had acid reflux issues in the past so not sure what I should stay away from.
Luckily I have a friend who has a produce company at two local swap meets. I think he only has like 30% organic though. I figure if Im eating regular fruits and veggies with pesticides on them that its better than eating the normal cheeseburgers and burritos right?
Any suggestions for eating regular fruits and veggies? I know, wash em right?
Well, time to start learning how to eat raw and live the lifestyle!

Good morning all!
Sethm - I hope you know that it doesn't have to be "eat this at this time" with raw food the freedom is to eat what you want, when you're hungry, so long as it's raw.
Well, I have no idea what I'm going to eat yet today. I was supposed to be on the road, but good things happened so now I'm not! (See abundance thread in personal growth)
I have so many choices! Bananas, pineapple, strawberries, raspberries, oranges, grapefruit, ice cream, salad, crackers, etc., etc. that I can't make up my mind yet. Plus, I'm not that hungry right now. So when I get hungry, I'll have a better idea!
Here's to everyone making March their MONTH TO STAY RAW!

I always like to start my day out with a smoothie. I try to add dif things daily and always put some kind of greens in it. Once my morning meal is done I always have a hard time trying to figure out what to eat the rest of the day. I did make the coconut maccaroons but dont want to eat to many of them.
Also have some breads but now that I have a good food processer want to remake them and hope they come out better.
In the evening I always have a nice big salad. Lots of greens.
Is tea not raw? I have to have my green tea. I am used to at least 4 cups daily. I dont usually drink it hot or even warm. I wonder if the tea leaves have gone through a process. I sure hope I dont have to give that up.
Good luck everyone. I know we can do this.

Happy Thursday!
Today is the big day... the day we are having a mexican theme at work for lunch. I opted to bring the guacamole, salsa, pico de gallo and the chips. Looks like I am going to have a salad with some pico de gallo for dressing and some other vegetables. My sister and I didn't have time to do any raw chips and so I won't big eating any - purchased 2 big bags of the standard tortilla chips for my coworkers. Oh well. I had 9 seemingly gorgeous organic avocados and when I cut them to remove them from their skins and seed I noticed that 90 percent of them were "stringy". I wonder if that means they were over ripe or picked too soon or what but the were stringy. I was really disappointed about that and didn't want to serve that to my colleauges and so I ended up buying two containers of this gourmet guacamole that I have used in the past but that I know is probably not 100% (I think it has some roasted onions or something and it may even have sugar or something like that)... So I won't be having any guacamole. That was going to be the best part for me. Anyway here is my menu plan for today:
2 a.m. 1 tangerine (I didn't go to bed until 2:30 and was hungry)
7 a.m. 2 organic oranges
10 a.m. 2 tangerines
12:30 salad (romaine lettuce with pico de gallo as the salad dressing)
3:30 1 tangerine
So far that is it. I brought what I thought would be easy to tag along and didn't require any prep.... I probably will be turned off from oranges for a while. I don't know what I am going to do about this evening. I am so sleepy right now... Lord help me stay awake at work, I am running on 1:40 minutes of sleep. I'll try to check in later.

Hi Everyone, and best of luck on all of your March commitments!
I am so excited to join y'all this time around. I have been reading the boards for awhile but this is my first time feeling like I can make the 100% commitment in 18 months. I was raw over a year ago and fell off of the wagon. I never felt better than when I was 100% raw.
Overtime, I felt very isolated and it was all too easy to slowly begin to eat what everyone around me was eating, the SAD diet. It feels really great to have all of you here for support. I deeply appreciate Alissa making this wonderful site available to us newbies who are wanting to find support in going raw. This time when i go raw I plan on staying raw. Even if I am the only one for miles around.:D We all deserve to have optimal health, and I know I experienced incredible energy and joy when I had the 100% raw groove happening in my life.
Besides social isolation, my greatest challenges to staying raw so far have been the freezing Canadian Border temperatures, having to smell my partner's warm comfort foods that I cook for him, and my craving for chocolate:p .
Mar. 1st!
Breakfast: Orange, Banana-Blueberry smoothie with green powder
Lunch : Salad with Avocado dressing
PS What wouldn't do for a raw food restaurant anywhere near Malone,NY!:)

Me too! I'm addicted. It takes me 3 days until I'm losing the cravings. Basically, getting off any food addiction takes 3 days because that's how long it takes to leave the body. (unless it's deep into the cells, cravinsg may pop up later). Eventually your taste buds will come alive again. Tomatoes and celery will begin to taste salty to you so you'll get that taste w/o the real salt. You could see physical and mental changes by removing salt. I know I do. Good luck!

2 medium salads (lettuce, tomatoes, lemon juice)

Well, I'm not *stocked up* at home so I purchased some fruit and veggies from the cafeteria. I had carrots and an orange for lunch and saved the cut up fruit for later (I have a class this evening that I go to right after work).
However, I just came back from a meeting where the meeting leader went out and purchased snacks ... specifically getting some "Screamin Hot" salsa because he knows I like it *hot*. I wish I would have known to ask him to pick up some celery sticks ... I would eat the salsa with that (even tho it's not 100% raw) ... instead, I mindlessly munched on the chips ... too many and my stomach knows it.
The REST of my DAY will be RAW though! And I still have 30 days of March left!!! :D

I do so good for the few weeks I have been Raw but let me start a challenge and all i want to do is eat eat eat. It did not help that I had to make dinner for my son and children and made spagetti and meatsauce. I love spagetti and used to always nibble on it while i was making it. I could not this time. I think I do better when i dont have a challenge but will stick with it..........I hope. I need to do this. I guess maybe I need to get more snacks in the house. I mean healthy snacks I make myself. I eat to many nuts for someone that wants to lose weight.

I made my wife the Fettuccini Alfredo from Alissa's recipes tonight and my wife's first comment was "what is this chicken". I laughed and said its nuts! She said I was too...
Im doing a journal as well. I will figure out how to post a photo soon and then I will post another one in 30days to compare. I hope I can last... Im actually really full right now. I probably ate too much of the fettuccini. When I was making it I found myself eating/licking my hands off for a few minutes... Too funny! Its soo good though. Very rich. I wonder how long it will last in the fridge?
I made a little salad to go with it. Im figuring all this out slowly but surely. I wish this site had spell check. Im soo bad!
Anyway, day 1 went good. I did flake on a friend cause he wanted to play pool tonight and probably drink beers. Im going to have to find some of that organic wine. Anyone know where to get any? Or, how about some RAW beer... :-)?

Good morning all! My day yesterday went SO good. BTW, I'm not starting my journal again until my MIL sends me the pictures from Christmas so that I can post an ACTUAL "before raw" picture this time! Anyhow, on to what I had yesterday!
Cherry tomatoes marinated in ACV, EVOO, garlic, onion, salt
3 apples
HUGE salad w/sunflower seeds and dressing
Olives
Everything was raw, and everything was OH SO GOOD! I love eating this way!
Ooh! And I was so exhausted by the time dh got home and we were under a tornado watch, so I wasn't going to go work out! I did it anyway and was SO glad I did! It helped perk me back up for a little while!
MORN - You're new avatar is awesome! You look so good and your hair is SO shiny! Keep it up girl!
Oh, and I ordered my dvd and ebooks from Storm and Jinjee's site yesterday! Can't wait until the dvd gets here! I'm so excited!
Hope everyone has a wonderful raw day!

Fantastic Friday Everyone!
Today, I may be a bit sluggish. I don't know what I was thinking when I left the house this morning for work. I guess the problem is that I wasn't thinking... I had less than two hours of sleep of the night before and then last night I was hoping for five hours but then received a phone call that woke me up at about 11:30. Anyway, I forgot my food for today:eek: . Oh well, it must have been meant for me to fast... or else I need to sleep:D . I am going to have some nice refreshing water today.
Snownoir -
I've seen the fajitas done lots of ways. This is what I do when I want fajitas:
fajitas
3 bell peppers (red yellow,green)
couple of small jalepenos or habaneros
yellow or red onion
raw tortilla wraps
extras
guacamole
pico de gallo
salsa
lettuce
1. I use green yellow and red bell peppers and slice them lengthwise (about 3 of them), I slice a jalepeno into thin strips, and a few strips of a yellow or red onion.
2. I put these veggies together and add olive oil and a combo of spices to give them that fajita flavor, I even found a really good fajita spice (salt free) at my health food store. Sometimes, I will throw in a sprinkle of sea salt. I will just let this set overnight or if its earlier in the day, they can just sit at room temperature for about 3 or 4 hours and marinate while I do other things around the house. If you have time and a dehydrator you can also put them in the dehydrator for maybe an hour. They will actually soften and looked like grilled veggies. They are so delicious to me that I don't use the dehyrator (did the first time).
3. Next, I simply take a spicy tortilla wrap (I love the ones at sacredsymbiosis.com, they are raw and they do not break or anything and taste GREAT, I still have to try to do them at home some time soon) and add a little shredded romaine lettuce, the fajita mixture, some guacamole, pico de gallo and salsa. I roll the tortilla up and enjoy. The tortilla wraps are a nice size and my fajitas are actually are more like burritos. I think that these raw fajitas are better than anything I ate in restaurants when I used to eat them the cooked way. I only have to think of myself when preparing so I don't make much at one time. Now, I really want some. I can only eat two ate a time (if I'm really hungry because the wraps are big enough to hold a lot in them). I'm almost drooling. My fajitas are pretty simple. I've seen some others on this site look really good. Since you like mushrooms, I bet that would be good in yours.
Okay take care everyone!

I do so good for the few weeks I have been Raw but let me start a challenge and all i want to do is eat eat eat. It did not help that I had to make dinner for my son and children and made spagetti and meatsauce. I love spagetti and used to always nibble on it while i was making it.

I have been waiting for it to get to me. I picked up several books at the library but they did not have anything in I wanted. One was a vegan so it involved all cooked meals. The other was raw but was all soy and I dont want to do soy all that much. From what everyone post on Alissa's book is the one to have so that is why i ordered it.
I ended up yesterday with making the apple pie and some kind of nut cake. Both have nuts which is what i am trying to get away from somewhat so maybe if i eat just a little of it that will take care of my nut craving. I finally seemed to get full so i was not craving but it could also have had something to do with the weather as we were in the bad snow storm and grandkids were home so i could not go to the rec center and use the treadmill. They were closed also. When i exercise i dont seem to get hungry. I finished up my day with raw broccoli. It truely does taste great. Better than what it used to. I love it cooked but was not fond of it raw.
Roads permitting i will have to go to the store and pick up a few veggies. I made cole slaw yesterday and there is not much left. Need more cabbage. I wish i could eat what the rest of u do. Maybe when my psoriasis clears up i can. For now i am suppose to stay away from tomatos, white potatos, eggplant so this really cuts back on what i can have. I love salsa even though it does not care for me all that much and i would love to be able to enjoy some homemade chips and salsa. Maybe i can eat those foods seeing as how I have changed my diet and the powers that be that said to not eat them r not pushing raw.
I think i cannot eat bananas. It seems to give me major gas problems. Am not having any today to see what happens. I started out my morning with a huge green smoothie. I put some clover raw sprouts in but need to cut back on the amount as I dont care for the flavor but will drink it all anyway.
Good luck all of you on your second day of getting healthy with eating raw. We can do it.
Shine72...Is'nt that storm amazing? WOW. I have never seen a 57 year old man look that good before. Shows how great raw is for everyone.
SethM. Good luck on finding a replacement. I gave up on all alcohol when i realized i was alergic to it. I did not drink much before that but once that showed up it took care of ever wanting to drink anything again.

Good thing there are 31 days in March.
I feel a little silly having started this thread, and disregarding it on March 1st. So, here's what I ate yesterday:
Green Smoothie consisting of 4 bananas, ~1 - 2 c. chopped pineapple, 3/4 bunch of parsley.
A Lara Bar
Another Banana
Coleslaw (delicious! but not 100% raw): 1/2 head of green cabbage, raw sunflower seeds, dried cranberries, green onions, dressing made of vegannaise (could have been raw mayo), agave nectar, orange juice, and a pinch of sea salt.
Another Green Smoothie: 4 kale leaves, 1 pear, 1 apple, squirt of agave
Then it went downhill. I went to my mom's house, and she asked if I wanted dinner. I still have the free food = good food mindset from college, and it was a healthy from a vegetarian perspective meal (oven baked black bean quesadilla on a wheat tortilla with red pepper and corn salsa). Then I went to a social gathering, and indulged in some tortilla chips and cheese dip (homemade and tasty). So, today, March 2, is the day to start for me. I'm not going to get down on myself since I did have 2 green smoothies -- more nutritious than my pre-raw days.
I also didn't exercise yesterday. So that will start today, too. Walking at lunch, and yoga after work. Woot.

and I was surprised at how easy it was!! I have been drinking soy coffee shakes and eating white cheese bread the past couple weeks, so I was thinking yesterday would be tough. Not at all! Struggled with overeating, but was not tempted by the cooked food I gave my kids.
People keep mentioning exercise. Hm . . . it would be great to take up yoga again. I have a video I really like. Maybe when this stupid cold is gone I'll give it a try.
In the meantime I am keeping track of my raw food progress via a blog, and am enjoying it.
Good luck everyone!!

I was bad already!!! Went to a big going away thing for a coworker and had some wine. I resisted the nasty bar food everyone ate. But then we all went to dinner at this awesome south Indian restaurant I'd been dying to try. It was SOOO good. I do not regret eating it. LOL. But I figure for me, I want to stay 100% as much as possible and always when I can control it, but I'm going to allow myself to eat some cooked vegan when I am out. Incidentally, I did eat all the mung beans and raw veggies everyone else didn't touch.
And like someone else said...there are still 30 days in march. :p
Definately all raw today!! TGIF!

So, I've been thinking about this a lot, and here's my conclusion. I'm going to bow out of the March 100% challenge. I'm not going to do 100%. When I focus on a 30 day challenge, I get so obsessed with what I'm eating or not eating that I can hardly focus on anything else. It's pretty ridiculous, really.
So, I'm not advocating a cooked diet, I just need to get into a healthier relationship with food in general before completely altering my diet. Goals for now will be to eat as close to 100% raw as possible, to not obsess about what I'm eating, to not let anyone make me feel badly about what I choose to put into my body, and to eat when hungry, and stop eating when full. I will still blog, and I'll still post from time to time on this thread still. I'm full of encouragement for all of you, still!
Working my way there. One foot in front of the other.
I made my wife the Fettuccini Alfredo from Alissa's recipes tonight and my wife's first comment was "what is this chicken". I laughed and said its nuts! She said I was too...
That was funny!
Keep up the good work! You can do this!
Bean Monkey - Do what you can do! As long as you are striving to eat raw and healthier that is all that matters. Some people have to ease slowly into eating all raw. And for many of us, this way of eating is so opposite to how we used to eat that even trying this lifestyle is an accomplishment. You are welcome to post here whenever you want!
Morningstar - You are a riot. I am so glad you are in this thread this month! I am really entertained so far by your posts. :D You have to stick with this challenge this month just so I can :)

Had to work in my daughter’s preschool today and I am tired. Stayed up too late last night and up too early. The good news was we took some 5 month pictures and I finally uploaded my new avatar. Unfortunately I don’t have time to take a nap but I need one. Foods eaten so far:
Fruit and nut bread with almond butter and honey and a strawberry on top
peach, pear, and stawberry smoothie
I will be eating out later and will most likely have a salad

Just checking in again. It's lunchtime. I know one thing; I am going to have some guacamole on a bed of lettuce shells. I know you guys probably don't remember this......when I first started raw in August of last year, I had the weirdest craving that went totally against my food combining philosophy. I craved sliced bananas with a spoon of guacamole and topped off with cashews. Does it sound crazy. But oh my my my, it was so good. And so here were are in March and I've been stricken with that crazy craving again. I don't know what my body is telling me... I'm going to the grocery store tonight and get some bananas and cashews.

Well I fell off a tiny teesy bit today took a few test bites of my sons lunch to make sure it wasnt toooo hot .. ramen noodles with a bunch of mixed veggies tossed in ... drats!
For breakfast I juiced 2 huge grapefruits mmmmm Im going to grab another 18lb bag thats onsale for $5.99
I had a piece of my banana flax crackers that I did yesterday in the dehydrator - they are pretty yummy I think Ill go down soon and slap a lil almond butter and some raisins on a piece and roll it up since its kinda leathery and see how that tastes
and I have had an apple
Last night, Did pretty good but my tongue was not happy with me at all lol I got a variety shipment in of Larabars from a company that sells sample boxes 1 of each flavor including the chocolate ones... so needless to say I kept trying them lol the lemon one is sooooooooooo good!! I have to say pretty much every one seems to taste the same to me - so why bother with all the different names? LOL My favs are Apple and now Lemon - so when my stash is out I think Ill just order a box of each of those and be happy. I dont like any of the chocolate ones .. I guess the carob and cocoa is just totally different to me that its an aquired taste. I have boughten a bag of nibs and tried the teenest piece and thought it was nasty so Ill have to play around with some recipess to use the bag up... made the chocolate mousse with the carob and that was pretty good, my son even ate it! Picky lil man!
I havent been too hungary today, been feeling thin though LOL love that feeling hahaha

OK, so I had some more taco chips today ... not as much as yesterday. My son made salsa and bought some *organic* chips for me ... so I brought it to work to share. I also brought in taco salad mixings with the taco meat from RAWvolution ... so we had a mini-Mexican Fiesta here at work :D
So, today I have fueled my body with:
Taco Salad (romaine, green onions, diced tomatoes, pico de gallo, taco *meat*, peppers, salsa)
Nut cheese sandwich on Igor's bread
and tonight I will have another nice big salad :D
I also intend to get in 15 minutes (or more) of exercise ...

my first day of march was AWESOME!
on the way home from a long day, coworkers and i stopped off at this mexican restaurant. i didn't just get standard guacamole, they brought out all of the ingredients to the table: two large avocados, onion, jalepenos, tomatoes, cilantro, and a lime, and proceeded to make guac right in front of me. it was a LOT of guac. and very good.
going strong, found a suprisingly good grocery store around where i'm staying currently that has sprouts, raw nuts and trail mixes of all kinds, and many many organic goodies. i'm excited.

I think I need to figure out what my trigger foods are, and find raw alternatives. In February, it was Mac and Cheese. Today, it was pretzels. I'm going to do some experimenting with my dehydrator, and see what I can come up with. I'm not a big fan of the raw cheeses I've tried, so far, but until I have a craving, I think I'll be ok.
I'm kind of like a drug addict in denial. You know, the "I can quit whenever I want to" attitude, when that is so far from the truth. Ok, I'm reminiscing about DARE, now...
5 pretzel sticks is better than the whole bag. And no pretzel sticks is even better. I'm so glad I have a support group. Yeah, it is like rehab (not that I'd know).

Except for this stupid cold/detox/thingy I feel great! I had two big bowls of guac today with pepperoncinis and raw unsalted sunflower seeds. Had an apple or two, several bites of organic pineapple . . . oh, and a few bites of mango. I would've eaten the whole thing, but it didn't taste as good as I wanted it to. A few glasses of maple syrup lemonade, I think that's about it. Oh, how could I forget the brownies!! :) I made the raw brownies and they were fabulous, am very pleased. What is it about the combo of dates and chocolate? YUM!
Not sure what I'll eat tomorrow, I've got a ton of raw food so am not worried about it . . . more worried that some bizarre craving will take me off guard.
I think it is like detox, I wouldn't know either, but a relative went through it a few times and sometimes the way I hear people talk about food reminds me of this person and her heroin. We want to eat something to feel different. When I get strong food cravings the underlying thing tends to be that I want to change how I'm feeling. Food and alcohol will do that in a jiffy. Anyway, just "food" for thought!
Good luck this weekend, and remember: WE CAN DO THIS!! Our bodies want us to, to get all this other garbage out and good stuff in.
Day Three tomorrow! (and 3 days is the longest I've been 100% raw before, so I'm totally stoked about breaking even that small record).

Hi guys!! :) So far so good for me. March 2nd and still rarin' to go!! Another day down of 100% raw. :D
I've been posting what I eat every day in my blog here on Alissa's site, let me know if you think I should repost it here for you guys, or I'd love your support in my blog too. :)
My goal for this weekend is to GET ORGANIZED. Any and all tips are welcome. My challenges seem to be planning ahead. Coming off a not-so-great SAD diet, I'm not satisfied with simple foods so I need to make recipes, etc, and I still keep finding myself with not much made to eat and in a hurry. So I sometimes feel a somewhat deprived that there isn't anything "better" to eat... Another member shared a chart with me that I can keep track of what needs to be prepared each day, if anything needs to be soaked for the next day, etc... So I'm going to try that... I think that will help.
hmmmmm.... Well, I'm happy at least that I've stayed 100% raw even though I'm not that organized, LOL.

Thats my goal for this weekend too! My life has just become a big mess and its shown in my room.... :P What has helped in the past is having a white board on my wall in my room ( I live in an apartment) and I write my to do list on it and all the important items. I like to wipe things off of it and make the list shrink. :D That might help you.

But I think that I am scared that I won't lose weight and look good for the summer and spend another summer embarassed about myself and hiding away. Firicia: You were raw all day until day. That in and of itself it great! Just keep on going. Like I saw RP post, it's progress, not perfection.
I stayed all raw today! And I got a shipment in the mail from Lucky Duck - the mail order part of Pure Food and Wine. Can't wait to try the food. The packaging was great and came with stickers and a pen and postcards and a little lotion sample.
I added a touch of salt to my guac. I just cannot enjoy guac w/no salt in it. I guess maybe that is part of the recipe so it doesn't count? I didn't go overboard though.
Food today:
banana
jicama
guacomole on beet greens

Bummer, my wife already gave up on this raw lifestyle with me after only 1 day. Im sure she will still be about 50% raw which is better than nothing. She doesnt eat meat so she is basically eating pretty well anyways.
Im not going to quit. I know most of my friends and family probably think I wont last for a week but Im going to do it. The hard thing is that I usually hang out with my friends on the weekend and have a beer, play ping pong or whatever. Now I have to figure out how to do that without drinking with the boys.
Im also doing my own post just so I can go back and keep track of my month. Ive never kept track of what Ive eaten even in 1 day. I have eating problems in the family. My mom has been overweight since I was a child and she has been struggling with it for 36 years. My dad has eating issues as well but I think realizes the whole calorie intake/burn thing. They have definatly rubbed off on me. I know I eat when stressed and even if there is a celebration. I realized last year that every time our family got together that is all my Mom and Dad would talk about (diets). The were obsessed with diets and weight problems. Not really the best way to think about food... I feel that the saying out of site out of mind really works. Though I have compassion for overweight people I feel that if they keep thinking it over and over it will always be that way. Most skinny people dont obsess about it and guess what? This is not true for all I know but in my situation I see a lot of truth in it.
Wow, too much typing... Its fun to read everyones day! I like hearing all the different things people are eating and doing. Im going to look into a few of the foods mentioned today. I would love to know of any websites that sell random raw foods that you just cant get at the supermarket.
Peace, Seth

Yesterday
No exercise, boo. I was at work 10.5 hours.
Food
2 apples
4 oranges
small carrots
asparagus
zucchini
cucumber
red pepper
tomatoes
I also had a lot of dried papaya spears from my work. I was eating them and couldn't stop! They are supposed to be the no sugar/no sulfite kind, but some of them tasted a little too sweet and had tiny white specs, but no where near the amount the sugared ones do. So I don't know if it means there was sugar on them? My face got red and hot so I don't know if that was a reaction to sugar? I woke up today all puffy with a lot of drainage :( I hope I didn't screw up my rawness! I assume they're raw, but it's possible they're not. I'm not going to have them anymore though.

Two full days 100% raw. I’m still on plan and down 6.6 pounds in just 48 hours. Yesterday, March 2nd, I had one Cocoa Mole Lara Bar and 3 quarts of green smoothies which contained: spinach, romaine lettuce, bananas, flax seeds, frozen peaches/blueberries/cranberries, & filtered tap water. I had an additional 32+ ounces of filtered tap water. No other food, beverages, supplements, or medications.
How’s it going? I’m feeling cold and irritable. And things smell funny to me. Coffee and dog food both smell sour. (Neither the coffee or the dog food was for me) I was also unusually drowsy yesterday. I’m still mildly preoccupied with food. It kind of makes me think of the names of the seven dwarfs from the story of Snow White. Grouchy, sleepy, freezy, sneezy, hungry. I guess that’s not seven, just five nasty villains. :( But I know it’s temporary and I can weather this storm. :)

Well, I made the blueberry cheesecake from Alissa's book last night. Wanna know something funny? I didn't bring my pie plates with me when we moved (they're in storage) so I used a round 2 qt. casserole dish to make it! Can you say DEEP dish cheesecake? Even funnier, I thought it was done setting when I cut into it. It wasn't! So it gooed everywhere! LOL! We had lots of fun with that last night! DH and I seem to be the only two that liked it, but he doesn't like the crust, he thinks it's too sweet.
So I had two pieces of that last night - it equaled about one large piece. I also ended up having some raw olives last night.
At about 10 pm I had a salad and had made the honey mustard dressing to go on it from Alissa's book. It was really good! I don't normally eat that late, but we were up playing a game as a family and I got hungry, so I ate!
It must've done me some good, cause the scale was down this morning! Yay! Have a good raw day all. So far, I had a small piece of the cheesecake for breakfast!

It came yesterday and I have only had a chance to read a little bit of it. If anyone can afford it that is the one to get. I had picked up some other books from library but this one puts them to shame.
I did good yesterday. I ate to much but I ate the right foods. Not as many nuts. I went to the rec center (walked there and back) and walked the treadmill for 3 miles. I got so tired out so quick and could not understand why. when i first got on i pushed the button to make sure it was not on an incline. After 50 minutes i decided to see how many calories I used and on the way to checking that out it showed i was on an incline. LOLOL. I put it down and then was able to speed it up and managed the 3 miles. Used a lot of calories that way. It just tires me out so fast. This is not the first time this has happened and from what I can tell it will not be the last. U would think I would learn right?
So this morn I had a wonderful smoothie. All fruit but just a little of this and that. I dont know what the rest of the day will be. I need to either make stuff or get more from the store. I mean veggies.
I know I can do this. Is hard as I make reg food for my family and it is all the stuff I love.:( Or used to love.
I ordered a saladacco this morning. The same site had a good juicer for a good price and i was able to get wheatberries with a sprouter which was part of the juicer price. I could not buy it as I need it all and i doubt i will get a better price as I was checking all over. That should be all i need to make everything. I hope.
Darn. Now i need some shelving to put it all on. That should do it.
Keep it up everyone. U r all doing great.
Filled out the bills the first part of the day. I will be doing some exercise later. Most likely an aerobics tape at home. My husband & I are battling for computer time. I am generally the loser. Its more like when he is home he is on it 90% of the time. So I don't know when I will have time to post next unless I can borrow his lap top. I also need to make some more raw fudge for the freezer. Hopefully I can do this sometime today. I had a huge chocolate craving last night and no raw fudge. So I ate 3 small dark chocolate kisses to get me past the hump. Its funny, I can make a pan of raw fudge and it lasts me a few months cause generally I don't crave chocolate too much but last night I did and felt like I had to have it. That is why we must be prepared with stuff already made. Foods eaten so far:
1 Pear
Apple, carrot, lime, pear, strawberry, banana, & orange smoothie
Red Pepper Hummus with flax seed crackers
Hi guys!! :) My goal for this weekend is to GET ORGANIZED.
Debra
I have the same problem too (planning ahead). Mine is also due to just plain not having enough time. With working and raising a young family. Also with me being the only one in my family eating this way, it is hard. I have to still cook for others and make my food separate. So I eat a lot of salads. My DH did however, juice up a wonderful batch of fresh juice of all kinds of things today for us to share. I have a cheap juicer so it is a lot of work to cut everything up and clean up everything. It is very time consuming. You will get into the groove soon though. And as you eat more and more simply you will get used to it again. If I had more time I would experiment with more recipes. I do it now only when time permits
Bummer, my wife already gave up on this raw lifestyle with me after only 1 day. Im not going to quit. I know most of my friends and family probably think I wont last for a week but Im going to do it.
Peace, Seth
Sorry about your wife bailing. I know it is easier when couples do it together. I am on my own too. But it can be done! Where there is a will there is a way. Good For You for sticking too this! It is pretty hard in the beginning but after a while it becomes a lot easier because you have made a new habbit! I would continue to see your friends but explain that you are on a special diet and you are watching what you are eating and don't want to drink. Who knows maybe you can even rub off on them and start new healthier traditions. o:)
VWinters - Congratulations on your weightloss, you are doing super! Hang in there kiddo! You are doing something great for yourself focus on this and the goal at hand! I also love your pictures!
Well... it is March 3rd... so can I join and make it a 28 day challenge?? I think so!!! :D

Hi there,
Yeah I will be fine without my wife doing this with me. It is nice to have this support group online. Everyone here seems to be on the same path.
Unfortunatly I found some Organic Beer and Wine from a local place. Fortunatly I will only drink them when Im feeling like its the right occassion. I was drinking a few beers every weekend along with at least one hard drink so I think if I only have 1 beer a weekend or less that Im doing pretty good. I enjoy hanging out with my friends but they all like to party a bit to much. Thanks for the reply(s) everyone... Seth

Hi everyone,
Just checking in to say I have stayed 100% raw except for one small piece of organic dark chocolate yesterday.
I was hungry tonight after a big salad for dinner a couple of hours ago, so I made up a banana stawberry smoothie. Yum!
I've been eating mostly fruit with one large salad a day, and have been feeling good, so far. I make a avocado-lemon dressing for my salad, because it is soo yummy and creamy.
The hardest part is cooking for my partner and smelling food that I used to love, not to mention watching him eat it.:( It would be a lot easier if we were both raw, and I didn't have to deal with the constant cooked food reminders right here at home. I know some of you can relate. More power to us for sticking to it.:D
So keep on keepi' on, fellow March mates!:)

Hi all. Munched on my food from lucky duck. The corn chips are so good. Very thin and crispy. Maybe just a tad spicy for me, but fine w/some guac! Mmm. Will def order more. I have the recipe in their cookbook, but doubt mine would ever turn out quite like theirs.
Food today:
avocado & corn chips
leftover half pizza from raw restaurant
munched on some buckweat crunchies
Have no idea what I'll have for dinner. Might go watch the chinese new year parade down in china town and have dinner w/a friend. Or I will just make a salad. I was very lacking in fresh food today. REALLY need to go grocery shopping tomorrow.

Hello
Just got back from the baby shower I told you about. Today, I didn't have time to do the fajitas that I wanted to and so I ended up buying a couple of lara bars. I ate one while I was out ripping and running and then I ate another at the baby shower. My eating went like this today:
around 6 a.m. ate a banana
aroun 8-ish ate two blood oranges (while waiting for the driver license place to open)
around 1p.m. ate a cashew lara bar
around 3:45 had a mixture of fresh fruit at the baby shower and a banana nut lara bar
I'm surprised I was able to eat those lara bars. I haven't had them for 4 or 5 months because I started gagging on them. I think I burned out on the dates. Right now I am munching on almonds and brazils and raisins. I'm glad I only bought a small portion of brazils because I have eaten them up - if I had more, I'd probably still be munching on them. I really do love them. I just thought about something - with all the ripping and running I did, I haven't drank any water and I'm used to doing a gallon a day. I hate using public bathrooms and I think that's why I didn't. I need to get to drinking- at least a half a gallon.

Hello
So far I haven't had anything to eat yet because when I woke up I felt bloated. I know it's because of not getting enough water yesterday. Eating all those nuts and raisins didn't help. I know it's not a good combo for my digestive system but I said I'd eat them and pay the consequences and so I am paying now with a bloated stomach and stomach ache.
Finally, I am going to make the oatmeal cookies I saw posted on one of these threads a few days ago. I've got to look it up. I was just telling my sister that maybe we should try to should for making one thing from Alissa's book per week. I don't think I've really made anything yet just due to time management issues. Wait a minute, I just remembered the spicy refried beans from last year. Hopefully, if I have time, I am going to try to do the cabbage rolls in her book. I think I will love these and the recommended sauce sounds great.
I haven't eaten anything yet because of my stomach but when I do I'm thinking that this is the plan for today:
9 a.m. - 2 oranges
12 n - big salad of romaine, tomato, a little onion and some parsley with a
olive oil/spices/apple cider vinegar dressing
3 p.m. - nananutguacs (my made up name for that weird combo my body
mysteriously craved that I mentioned in an earlier post)
After this I don't know, those oatmeal cookies will still be in the dehydrator according to the recipee and so, I don't know... guess I'll check in later

I’m off to a great start with the weight loss which is always motivating. I know after the first week it will slow down. So anyway, I’m still on plan. Yesterday, March 3, I had one Apple Pie Lara bar and just shy of 3 quarts of greens smoothie. My March 3rd smoothie recipe included kale, bananas, fresh mango, frozen blueberries/cranberries, flax seeds, & water. I had an additional 32+ oz of water.
No other food, beverages, supplements. I did have 1 Temazepam to deal with an anxiety attack that happened after I went to bed. It’s been about 10 days since my last attack and I’ve had about a dozen attacks in the past 3 months. I am hoping this is one of the health issues that will be positively impacted by the diet. I was very pleased I didn’t need to take any Rolaids yesterday which is wonderful.
Despite the panic attack, I had a pretty good day yesterday. Not as cold, irritable, or preoccupied with food as the day before. I don’t anticipate any problems today.

Good morning everyone!
I had such a good day yesterday. The car was in the shop and i had to walk just over 3 miles to go pick it up, against the wind, mostly uphill, with legs that were already sore. I got a GREAT workout in! I stopped and our local HFS to pick up a couple of things on the way, it's right down the road from Midas by like 2 minutes or so. There is a wonderful crew there. They have a little cafe and Miss Denise was so wonderful. I asked her if I got some kiwi out of produce would she open them for me so I could eat them while they made my salad and my daughter's fruit cup. She said no problem so she cut 'em in half and I got to eat them with a spoon! Been wanting to eat them like that for a while, but keep forgetting to get them when I go to the store! So that was fun!
Then when I get home, an old friend from when were in Japan was visiting for a while. Hadn't seen him since Jan. 2001. Anyhow, I made the Strawberry Ice Cream I make which is Alissa's recipe modified. He LOVED IT! He's nowhere NEAR raw or vegetarian and he absolutely loved it! What affirmation that was!
So I had the salad and icecream after I got home, not back to back.
On a sad note, I had to throw away the rest of the blueberry cheesecake. DH had chicken thawing in the fridge on top of something, and at some point it fell into my cheesecake. YUCK! I was so upset! It wasn't cheap to make and I made it to try it and as a treat for us, and now half of it is in the trash.:(
Oh well, there's always next time!
Hope everyone has a wonderful raw day!

Just checkin in again. Shine, I just read your post. Now little "uh oh" with the chicken in the cheesecake.. that is definitely one of those moments when you have to count to ten (maybe 20)
I finally have the oatmeal cookies dehydrating. I have to make adjustments to my earlier posting. I never got to the oranges at 9 a.m. because I was busy enjoying the oatmeal cookie "dough". I actually spooned some out in a separate bowl to enjoy.

Hello mangificent marchers,
I just got back from the grocery store. This is the first proper shopping i've done in weeks. It feels so nice to be stocked up on all sorts of everything!
I am munching on a yummy snack: tomato slices, avocado, basil and olive oil piled on jicama slices. So good. The smell of the basil was intoxicating and I just had to eat some now. My cat is fighting me for it too.
I bought myself a cherimoya as a special treat. They're expensive, but soooo good.

Vegan Princess -
What brand of chips did you buy from "lucky duck"?
Does anyone have any tips on making bread that is really pliable and soft rather than being crunchy like a chip? I am going to try out Alissa's pizza bread recipee tomorrow, but it is going to need to dehydrate for 19 hours and I have a round dehydrator and so it's going to be interesting. Sometimes, I want a veggie sandwich... you know something with sprouts, tomato, avocado onion, a good sauce on some bread or something, but I want it (the bread) to be soft and flexible - don't want my bread to be crunchy and breaking apart if I'm trying to eat it as a sandwich.
I just finished having 3 nice large lettuce leaves stuffed with guacamole. I also had a banana. I'm going to drink some water. Those cookies are still in the dehydrator. I am going to leave them in for the recommended time but I tasted one and I like them.

Hello Everyone! :D
My nephew got married yesterday and at the reception I had my sister take a picture of me so I could post it. That is a *HUGE* step for me because I usually don't like my picture taken ... and to display it as my avatar
Today I went to the grocery store for a few items ... I like to stock up by shopping at Costco ... I hope to get there tomorrow or Wednesday.
I picked up some cauliflower because I was thinking I'd like to make the couscous from RAWvolution ... well, when I got home and *actually* looked at the recipe I realized I was missing half the ingredients ... LOL ... so I ended up making something with the mashed potatoes texture ... 1 head cauliflower, pine nuts, olive oil, nama shoyu ... lol ... sea salt and pepper helped yet it wasn't *great* ... and I threw it on top of a bowl of romaine lettuce blend. was definitely filling!
Also, I soaked and seasoned 2 lbs of almonds and they were done today so I had a few handfuls of them.
I've got to get more water in and I haven't been exercising like I had planned to :o

Your avitar is great. I just ate a couple more of the oatmeal cookies from the dehydrator. They are delicious and my sister loves them. I got a feeling they won't last for more than one day with both of us liking them. They are still in the dehydrator and according to the recipee they need another 4 hours I think. Girlsmiley: You are lovely!! So happy to see you now.:D
Lavendarj: did you use the oatmeal cookie recipe from the board? I'd like to try it. The chips are their own brand from one lucky duck. You can't miss them. Chille lime corn chips I think. Also, the hamburger buns came out sort of soft for me, but I found them a little bitter. Wouldn't make them again. Maybe I did something wrong though.

That juice that you mentioned is right up my alley. I need an intense cleansing drink. I really needed to be drinking that. I did use the oatmeal cookie recipee that was posted for the most part.
2 cups of oat groats
3/4 cup of dates
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup cashews
1/2 cup almonds
I added a few sprinkles of cinn. to the mix. I didn't use the apples because they were listed as optional. I put the oat groats, nuts, and dates through the processor separtately. Then I added everything together in the processor with the raisins last. I didn't soak my raisins or dates and I notes that the dough was dry and crumbly and so I added a little agave while I pulsed the processor - just enough to form a workable dough and now almost 12 hours later. My sister and I couldn't take it anymore and we have taken them out and hour early and have eaten quite a few. The kids (nieces and nephew) also love them and I know that this is something that I will make again. The cookies held their form and they taste really good.

Just wanted to add another quick note. I ordered come of those chips and I can't wait to enjoy them. I am so excited - the chilli-lime ones sounded so good and I just can't wait to have them with some guacamole/salsa.
I also ordered some raw tortilla wraps from sacredsymbiosis and I can't wait for them... They are better than any cooked I've every had. They are nice and soft and very pliable. I love making fajitas and veggie wraps with them. They have a cheesy dill brand that I bought also and once I experimented with them and took a cheesy dill tortilla and cut it up into strips and put them in my dehydrator until they became crispy - they tasted so good, like a doritos type of chip.

Lavendar: Thanks for the recipe! Is it just steel cut oats? Or did you use the really raw oat flakes? I might have the stuff on hand to do it tomorrow if it's the steel cut chunky oats.:) Also, I just tried the lotion sample I got from lucky duck and I love it. It's "farm" something or other. I weighed myself just now. 127.5. That is my low I hit before I started those birth control pills. :D The lowest I've been in years. Anything else is unchartered territory!! I'm excited. I haven't even been working out. But hopefully I will make it back to yoga today.
I also started a cleanse today. I forgot the name right now, but it is a full body cleanse. I've done them before. I just feel like I need it after eating cooked for in Hawaii and then getting thrown off by those nasty birth control pills.
Have a great day everyone!

I am still sticking with it. Is hard. Yesterday my DIL made pasta for lunch which i love and then turkey, dressing and cooked corn for dinner. I had whipped up some mousse for the grandkids just to get the last package used up. I stayed with my raw eating but it is hard when others in the household do not eat this way. I can sympathyze for anyone that is doing this. Only the month long challenge and good health is helping me along. Also I pinch my ear to help me get past it. Just read that in a magazine. When u r tempted pinch that little soft flap in the front of your ear for bout a minute. It seems to help me and nothing ever did before.
I dont post my meals cause they r almost always the same. Fruit smoothie for breakfast, snack is usually nuts or seeds or some other raw snack. Dinner last night was a apple and orange.
I am getting the cold my grandchildren just got over. Upsets me big time as I was so careful and always wipeing things off but it did not good for me. Also i am eating healthy and I am the only one who got it. Son and DIL both r cold free. What is up with that? Maybe it is due to detox yet.
Have a great raw healthy day all. Stick with it. We can do it and we r worth it.

Vegan Princess - I have a long way to go before I get to where you are, but I know I'll be so glad when I do! Good for you! Big time kudos!
Well, today my mantra is going to be that muscle weighs more than fat and that this weekend I had GOBS of energy so it's okay! The scale moved this week, but not by much. Last week is when I FINALLY started a consistent exercise routine! So I know that's why, I'm starting to replace fat with muscle. So hence my mantra for the day!
Here it goes all:
Starting weight:238.9
1/15 - 228.2
1/22 - 225.9
1/29 - 222.4
2/5 - was out of town
2/12 - 218.1
2/19 - 216.7
2/26 - 215.2
Today - 3/5 - 214.9
So it's still a loss, so I'll take it! Hope everyone has a really wonderful raw day!
Oh, and a big warm welcome to Shanna and Tuliza! Jump on in! The water is fine!:)

Congrats to everyone who has made it to day 5! I have not. I had a very SAD weekend. I'm doing good with the quart of green smoothies every day, though. Walking to get a salad from the grocery store at lunch today.

Thanks for the tip puffymom, I'm gonna try that. So I’m having a great first week in terms of weight loss. Today is my 45th Birthday and it will also be the first day I start eating green smoothies exclusively. My last solid food yesterday was a lemon flavor Lara bar. In addition to that I had 2 quarts of green smoothie, 2 Rolaids, and 32+ ounces of filtered tap water. No other food, drinks, supplements, or medications.
Interestingly enough, the mint Rolaids tasted so strong they felt like they were burning my tongue. Must be some kind of side effect of the diet change. Hopefully I won’t need to eat too many more Rolaids, although I’m concerned that the manufacturer of this product may go out of business without my continued support.
Otherwise, I think I’m doing pretty good. Some improvement in the chronic sinus congestion, less preoccupied with food, some bouts of fatigue, not feeling as cold but that may be because it’s actually warmed up in the past few days. I’m in good spirits and don’t foresee any problems today.
I ventured out yesterday for the first time in several days. Pretty much the only food in the house is for making smoothies and fortunately for me, I have the luxury of staying home. Plus I don’t have to go to the grocery store since my partner generally does the shopping. It also helps that the nearest fast food place is over 8 miles away. So I have it easier then a lot of folks when it comes to temptation.
Well, that’s enough for today. I’m enjoying reading everyone’s posts in this thread. It’s more fun to do this with a group.

Hi Everyone and thanks for letting me join.
After being on the Master Cleanse for 17 days, I am on my 6 day of eating 80% raw. The reason why I say 80%, is because I had been eating organic cooked vegetable soup and Lentil soup. I have gained 4 pounds of my weight back:eek: . 4 pounds is not so bad, however, I, now, have 28 pounds to lose. Today I start 100% raw. I got up this morning and started a new batch of Kombucha. I have some beans and lentils I need to sprout also. I am going to be away for a week and I want to bring my own raw snack foods. I don't want to leave any room for temptation. I gave my digestive system a good flush this morning so that I could start fresh.
My stats:
1/4/07 174lbs My highest weight. Went on a couple of water fasts.
2/9/07 161lbs Started Master Cleanse
2/26/07 150lbs Completed 17 day Master Cleanse

Good morning....it's getting late in the am here, almost lunch time. I did not have a 100% raw weekend, but did as good as I could. Back to 100% today though!!
Today's food so far has been:
barleymax
walnuts/brazil nuts sprinkled with sea salt, cinnamon, cardamon....
Not sure what else I will eat, I have a massive headache....I have had a headache all morning, and it seems it was going away, and now (maybe it was the nuts) it's coming back full force! I could sure use some advice...I guess drinking LOTS of water would help some.
Everyone have a great day.

You are very inspiring ...
Happy Birthday Valerie! You are doing Rawsome! Keep it up!
Girlsmiley - I love the new Avatar! You look fabulous!
Lavender J - Good luck finding a good bread recipe. I have tried about 4 different recipes and try a little but end up throwing the rest out. I too need to still find a good bread recipe. I have heard a lot of people rave about the onion bread recipe on this site. Let me know if you end up finding one you like.
Vegan Princess - Congratulations on your new lowest weight! I am also glad you are off the birth control pills. I have heard that they help keep weight on. I am also going to check out Lucky Duck. What is the web address for the site?

Just checkin' in. I have a change to make to my earier post. Instead of that 12:30 salad, I had 4 of my yummy oatmeal cookies that I dehydrated last night. Which means the salad has been bumped to around 3.
I am going to try to do Alissa's pizza bread - maybe. I only say maybe because I'm not going to get home tonight until around 6:30/7-ish. By the time it is in the dehydrator it will probably be after 8. I read that it needs to dehydrate a long time. I will be at work on Tuesday. Maybe this is going to be pushed to the weekend. I don't feel comfortable leaving the dehydrator on all day while I am almost an hour away at work.
Had church yesterday and then got home and made some raw fudge. It didn’t turn out like the last time. I think I blended it too much and then I ended up overheating my vitamix and it shut off. The good new was that it came back on 45 minutes later as it said it would. Foods eaten yesterday:
Garden salad
Few chunks of pineapple, cantelope and honey dew melon
Red pepper hummus
Flax seed crackers
Lara Bar (pecan pie yum!)
Raw fudge
Handful of pinenuts
Have to work later. I got up and weighed myself and am down another 2 pounds (yeah I am out of the 180's) still sore from working out on Saturday. Foods eaten so far today:
Young Coconut, banana, pineapple, organic cocoa smoothie

Yay 4 me! It's been an "all raw" day :D
Today I've fueled my body with a piece of pecan pie from RAWvolution, salad with cucumber and tomato, baby carrots, 1 Minneola (http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/CH072) (too tart for me), 2 bananas, 2 handfuls of seasoned/dehydrated almonds, apple.
I went to Costco for a few things and tonight I will have a green smoothie with spinach, bananas, and goji berries :p
I am working late tonight yet I believe I will be able to do 15 minutes on the gazelle ...
And, thanks everyone for the compliments ... this is a *safe* place to "come out" ... lol :)

Congradulations on the weight loss also. That is super great. I dont lose that much that fast. i am a slow loser but perserverence pays off in the end.
Congrats to all u losers. U r losers in the weight loss and winners in eating healthy.:D
I am still sticking with it. Today makes day 6 as I started tje 28th of Feb.
I doubt i will lose weight very fast because i eat to many bananas and nuts. that is ok. From what it sounds eventually I will get past this eating to much. I need to pick up the ingredients for green smoothies. Believe it or not I spent over $100 on produce Sunday and they did not have the ingredients for green smoothies. I went to two stores with no luck. Only one left to check out is Walmart and I hate to buy their produce. Is not as good.
Keep it up all u winners. We can do it. I know how bad the temptation is but I am in control and I will not give in. Everyone has to decide who is in control. Your body or your mind. Well I dont want my body to be cause so far it has done a terrible job of it. I have a little over 50 #s to lose and so far I have lost since last May only 47#s. In Jan of last year I was even heavier. Since January of 06 I have lost 72#s. :D So that goes to show everyone that the mind does a better job than the body does. LOLOL I am fighting the I wants also. It sure would be a whole lot easier if I lived by myself. It would make a big difference.

Morn: You're on fire!!! Great job!
I didn't make it to yoga. :( Worked too late.
Made the oatmeal cookies. Was a lil confused by the thread in the recipe section about what to do with the cashews and whether to use dates or agave or both. So I used 1/2 cup agave, no dates. I used the cashews as flour at the end to help roll. I'm eating some dough now..mmm. Can't wait to see what they taste like when they're done. They are a lil too sweet for my liking at the moment. Might be good w/a little less agave and maybe a touch of almond milk. Maybe it would be less sweet with the cashews mixed in.
Food today:
green smoothie: banana, orange,spinach
flax crackers
salad w/half avocado
apple
more shitake mushroom pear salad
some oatmeal cookie dough

Well my oatmeal cookies are all gone. My sister and nieces and nephew all loved them. I guess we'll definitely be using oat groats for things like this. I was thinking that the oatmeal cookie recipee I used could be a crust for something else. Those cookies were firm and crunchy. They almost needed to be a little bit moist. Yet, were hard enough that they could have been broken into pieces and called granola or used as a breakfast cereal with some almond milk or something.
I pretty much spent the rest of the evening (after work) nibbling on those oatmeal cookies and then some raisins later. I think that pretty much did for me as far as my appetite goes. I couldn' even eat the salad I had planned. I can hardly wait - my orders will arrive either tomorrow or Wednesday. I can't wait for those chips with guacamole and salsa.

Happy Tuesday!
Today is going to be pretty similiar to yesterday. I was shopping for some veggies for some cabbage rolls for today and ending up having to stop short in the grocery store and leave without purchasing any other items. So I had a couple handfuls of raisins at 7 a.m. and it looks like the rest of day will probably go like this:
9:00 a.m. grapes
11:00 a.m. two apples (gala)
2:00 p.m. salad (chopped lettuce, roma tomatoes parsley)
I'll probably snack on a blood orange around 5 on the way home from work. And then in the evening around 7, I might still be hungry and so I think I will probably have to do some sort of veggie. I am thinking of making some chinese noodles (my sister thinks they taste like ramen noodles).
I really want to try Alissa's red cabbage wraps with the sauce. I am going to try to prep it tonight and make the wraps tomorrow morning if I have time.
Shine-
I am going to try eatin my kiwi that way. I'm always on the go lately and I tend to be picking combinations of fruit that do not require much more than washing and eating. I never thought to slice them lengthwise and eat with a spoon...

Good morning all,
I had an oatmeal cookie w/my green smoothie (after actually, together would be ick). It was very good. Lavendar...you are right...it would be good crumbled with almond milk. I may try that.
I am heading home to San Diego this weekend to visit my family. I'm very excited as I haven't been home since Thanksgiving and also b/c it's supposed to be 80 degrees there!!:D I really want to try the raw restaurant there called Cilantros. They have 3 locations now and are opening a fourth near my dad's office. I feel bad for him LOL...I already drag him to the vegan place near his office and I know he hates it but goes to make me happy. Now I will be dragging him to the raw place and he's bound to hate it even more. Anyway, my mom and friend have eaten at Cilantros and both didn't like it (both do enjoy raw food though). And the other raw restaurant I wanted to try is closed for remodel right now. So I know I will get one meal at cilantros (even though my friend refuses to go back). Guess I'll do one or two at Souplantation (salad bar) and then I don't know. I guess I won't worry myself about it.

San Francisco and San Diego are consistently rated amongst the healthiest cities in the country. SF especially. San Diego has REALLY come a long way over the past couple years. But it all depends on the person. Here at work someone joked last week that vegetables are not allowed on the trading floor (all men sit out there). And the past couple days I have been making smoothies people have been awed...like they've never ever made a smoothie. And they all about died when I put spinach in. I'm used to everyone commenting on what I eat though. I just ate a tomato sliced up and someone even commented on it being really healthy.

Can I just say that I love reading everyone's daily posts? It is so wonderful and refreshing to know that I am not the only one that is trying to be raw. Most everyone knows my diet, but I still get the occasional raised eyebrow. So anyways, I am glad to read and talk to people that really know and understand this truth.
March is going well for me. Still trying to conquer an ED. Lots of green smoothies so far, and green juice, among other things. I just discovered ginger root the other day (I knew what ginger was, but didn't know where it came from) and now I am juicing it and putting a titch of it in my juices and smoothies. Yum!
Last year my husband and I went to Brazil and we had this fruit there called acai (I hope I spelled that right) (aa-cy-ee) and I am craving it like crazy. Wonder where I could get it? Maybe Brazil could ship it to me.
Thanks for all of the positive and inspiring posts, keep em coming.....

Hello Fellow March Raw Food Companions,
Yesterday I was absolutely ravenous and while I was out grocery shopping I had an organic not raw Clif bar. I also had a ton of nut pate for lunch and dinner. It was 10 below zero here with the wind chill factor and today is more of the same. Personally, for me, the severe cold weather brings out an intense craving for denser foods. I just have to learn not to beat myself up about that.
Other than the Clif Bar, I remained raw, though. So I am happy about that.
Morning Food:
Orange, apple and a banana-berry smoothie before lunch.
Lunch: Salad with nut pate.
Dinner:TBA Most likely will be more salad with pate again.
It is wonderful to have this thread for support and to read everyone's daily reports. Best of luck to everyone. One day at a time.:)

It's amazing how a little exercise in the morning makes you want to eat fruits and veggies.
As some of you know, I am doing mostly raw this month, and I have not done well so far. Today, however, I'm on a roll.
I have had (so far):
1 pear
Green Smoothie - 3 bananas, 4 leaves turnip greens, 2 c. frozen blueberries
1 banana
1 big red grapefruit
lots of water
I made some red pepper spread, and this morning I stirred in some chopped celery. I plan on spreading that on some lettuce leaves and snarfing that up this afternoon.
I'm also soaking some buckwheat groats, and I'm going to sprout and dehydrate them today/tomorrow, for some rawnola. Woot.
Keep it up, everyone! You are fantastic!

I am in it for March. I thought I was doing great on raw foods, untill I discovered soy milk, and ranch dressing wasn't on the menu. I have not lost any weight. I am 5'5" and 143 pounds. I am 40. When I was 31, I was 125. I would be reallllllly happy if I could be that weight again. I am currently a size 12 and have not seen a size 6 or 8 since I was 31. If I kept up my SAD diet I think I was pushing a 14 and going higher. please offer any posts that would help, I will be extremely excited to hear from anyone, thanks kherd2

Hi all,
I’m really enjoying reading through everyone’s posts on this thread. So let me give you my daily report. I’ve lost 15 pounds in five days. I almost don’t believe it myself. I can’t really tell since I have so much weight to lose, except that the swelling in my feet went down and I had to tighten the straps on my Birkenstocks so my shoes would stay on.
So, how am I doing? Not fabulous. I’m feeling wiped out. Exhausted and mentally spacey. :( I experienced the same thing when I went 100% raw for 30 days last October. That time I lost 15 pounds the first week and then about 5 pounds a week thereafter and I remember I suffered extreme fatigue for the first two weeks. I’m glad I have that experience under my belt so I now feel confident this is a temporary thing. I also had another anxiety attack last night which I treated with Temazepam. That’s two this week. I’m not associating this with the diet since I had them before the diet change and they often come in clusters. I think they are influenced by hormone fluctuations. I had about 10 Rolaids yesterday, which is the most I’ve had in one day since going 100% raw on March 1st. I’m thinking I need more greens in my smoothie to help that. Yesterday’s smoothie was pretty sweet, with only 12oz of romaine lettuce for three quarts. Earlier in the week my kale smoothie was a little too green tasting. I keep fiddling with the recipe. I’m gonna try to measure the greens I’m using by weight as I have been irritated in the past by green smoothie recipes that call for bunches of greens. Too imprecise for my liking. I’m not thinking much about food. But then I’m home and only have smoothie making stuff here so there isn’t too much temptation.

Hi Vwinters,
I am so proud of you. You are an inspiration:) . Your feelings of fatigue and anxiety are related to your weight loss. They are detox symptoms. As your body fat burns, it releases old feelings, thoughts and illnesses that gets stored in your fat cells. Drink a glass of water when you feel your symptoms. It washes away ketones. Ketones form in your system when glucose levels drop and the body no longer has glucose to use for fuel. Your cells now begin to use stored body fat for fuel and the cells give of ketones. Embrace it. It's a blessing:).

Valerie - you are doing great. At least you have some "past" experience with RAW and know what to expect during those first 30 days. I will believe with you that you will get past the hump and start feeling more energetic :D And that is so great that you have to tighten your Birkenstocks, I got a chuckle out of that one :D
When I first went RAW I lost a lot of swelling in my feet too and that was so nice!
Today wasn't 100% raw yet I'm not upset by it. I was out running errands on my lunch and stopped by The Pita House and got some hummus - I brought in a whole celery heart and didn't have anything to eat with it so when I saw the restaurant I figured hummus would be great. I just know that they use canned garbanzo beans. I also got some stuffed grape leaves and falafel ... I am just happy I stayed vegan because I had considered a "drive-thru" place ... small victories are still VICTORIES :D
So, today I've fueled my body with 1 banana, handful of seasoned dehydrated almonds (nice and crunchy!), one celery heart, 2 apples :p

Wow Tuliza, I think you are truly amazing that you lost this much weight since January! Way to go!! I also admire you tons for doing a 17 day MC. I would love to do a MC, but I don't feel like I could do it.
You are doing amazing, and I bet you are now feeling great! Keep up the great raw work!!

Hey everyone. It's getting to be evening time here....and I've stayed raw today. I'm just taking that, and feeling it a major accomplishment lately!
Today I snacked on:
brazil nuts, walnuts, pecans....alot of nuts! Maybe too many, but it was better than the SAD stuff in the house!
I also had some green tea this afternoon, which I read somewhere that it would help with cravings....and it did!
Dinner tonight will be a green salad....spinach, romaine, cucumbers, brocolli, cauliflower, squirt of lime, drizzle of olive oil.
Ya'll take care and catch in the am.

Thanks Fuzzypeach,
It was a lot easier than I thought it would be. I tried doing the water fast first
and It was very hard. Now the hard part is eating again. I didn't want to wake my sleeping appetite. Even on raw foods, I'm not sure how much to eat. How much is too much:confused: ?

So many good reports. Girlsmiley....dont fret. U at least did not do sad. Vegan is better than fast food.
Tuliza. I noticed that u gained a few #s after Master Cleanse. Does this happen all the time? U have lost a lot of weight in a short time. Good going. I wish i was at your weight. that is where i want to be eventually. I have a long ways to go.
I guess I should look up master cleanse as I have no idea what it is. Sound hard. Would guess that anyone that has done it is a tough cookie. Strong willed and determined. :D
I am not straying from raw which seems to be harder now that i have this head cold. I just was surprised that i got a head cold seeing as how i am eating so healthy. I gave up a lot of antioxidents while eating more fruit and veggies and i should not have. I felt so good and it seemed my body did not want them but I will not listen to that again until spring is here and all those nasty winter germs r gone.
I have been doing a lot of fruit today. Felt it might be the right thing to do. Grapefruit, oranges and bananas. My tastebuds r not working to good right now so at least i can taste them. I am hungry for that pizza but want to be able to taste it so will wait a few days.
Keep it up all. How many is there of us doing this? I know a lot said they were going to but just wondering how many r still with us all. I know it is hard. Very very hard but I bet once we get past this first month we will have it under control. Perseverence pays off in the end.

Girlsmiley,
Thanks for the encouragement and the positive energy. I think you’re very wise not to beat yourself up over some silly garbanzo beans. :)
Tuliza,
Thanks for the support! I’m not sure I buy into the theory of detox, but I do believe food has chemical addiction properties. I also think my anxiety attacks are caused by some kind of chemical imbalance. I’m hoping raw food will straighten the whole mess out. You are doing so great. Also, I was trying and trying last week to figure out how to get the weight loss tracker to post on messages and I gave up. When I saw yours I knew it could be done and I went back and figured it out. Thanks. :D

Valerie - You are kicking some serious butt girl! Keep it up!
OMG people! I just had some of the peppermint truffles from Alissa's site - THEY ARE SO YUMMY!
Today I had:
B - 3 kiwi
L - salad w/sunflower seeds and dressing and one flaxseed cracker
S - small slice of date nut torte (base only)
D - Salad and one of Alissa's beanless falafels (made them for the first time today
Dessert - 2 and 1/2 of the peppermint truffles
I am feeling full and light and happy all at the same time! Today was a bit of a heavy eating day, but I felt like I needed it. I go through days like that every now and again. And I don't fight them because I am trusting my body to tell me what it needs! I LOVE being raw!

Hi Everyone,
Congrtulations to everyone for keepin on keepin' on.
I am inspired by each of you!
Well, it is still freezing in Northern NY and the wind chill is about 20 below. I feel blessed to find the warm cyber warmth of all of you here!:)
It's really encouraging to come on here and read everyone's check in's. I appreciate the kindness folks show to one another and that helps me to be a bit more compassionate toward myself when I stray a bit. Today was better for me than yesterday. I wasn't ravenous, like I felt yesterday, so I didn't feel the need to overeat the denser raw foods.
I feel much better as I get ready for my night time routine.
I had a mango banana smoothie for dinner which was yummy.
Those peppermint truffles sounds delectable!
PS
There are so many yummy recipes I keep reading about in the recipe section. I lok forward to trying to make some of these , when I get a chance to pcik up more ingredients. The raw lasagna thread had my mouth watering. :p
At some point soon, I want to make some home made raw bars with dtes, nuts, and dried fruit. I hope to find some organic raw dried cherries, because I love Lara Bar's Cherry Pie flavor.

Hey Hey Hey!
I just wanted to let you guys know that I just finished reading the posts from the last time I visited earlier today. Everyone is so motivational. I'm so proud of everyone for just embracing this raw journey and tailoring it to our own individual needs - I am learning so much.
I finished off the evening by having a bowl of "chinese noodles" Which means about 2 small z. squash, a little chopped green onion, about 1/2 cup shredded carrots, some dashes of crushed red pepper, a few shakes of brags amino acids, and a few dashes of olive oil. I actually put this in the dehydrator for 20 minutes while I washed dishes because the veggies had come from the fridge and were ice cold. Normally, I wouldn't do this if the veggies were room temperature. I had that and then had a gala apple that was so sweet, I thought I was eating candy for a second.
I didn't get a chance to get the items I needed for the cabbage rolls but oh well... I'll get to them eventually.

lavendarJ - I find it funny (read ironic) that the apple felt like eating candy. That's the kind of thing I was talking about with slicing the kiwi in half and eating it with a spoon. It's like having a gourmet treat!
Well all - I didn't get to it until 11 pm tonight, but I did my workout for the day after all! I'm paying for it now with ice on my knee. Don't worry, this is normal for me. I have no cartilage behind my left knee. So until I really build up my leg muscles and lose this extra weight I have on me, it's gonna be like this. That's okay though, cause I can do it!
Hope everyone had a wonderful, beautiful raw day!

I just got home from work.. I am very tired but just wanted to quickly post my food for earlier Tuesday! Foods eaten:
Fresh squeezed orange juice
Vegetable sushi with ginger
Large garden salad with raspberry vinegarette dressing
Couple handfuls of pinenuts
Went to Randazzos and got whole pineapples for $.99 cents each!
Shine 72 - Good for you! You are right you can do it! I am proud of you for pushing yourself and getting your workout in even late at night. If I get out early from work, I sometimes will exercise late (or early, however, you look at it). But lately on Monday and Tuesdays I have been getting off so late and then I am tired. I am also on my feet while I work for several hours so I am tired when I get home. I wish I had the time to squeeze in a workout daily but for right now I have to settle with 3-4 times a week depending on my schedule. I know exercise does help make the difference in weightloss so lets keep each other motivated!

Dawn - Oh man! I don't know if I can handle the pressure!:p LOL!:) You are doing great and your message this morning is SO on spot! Hope everyone gleens what they need from it!
Morn - last week I only got four workouts in that week as opposed to the five I wanted to get in, but I look at it this way, it's four more than I got in the week before! So I try to keep it all in perspective. For you, since you can only do 3-4 days a week, you would get GOOD benefits from doing a circuit workout when you do get to work out. It works out the whole body, plus you get in cardio, and as long as you aren't doing them back to back, your body will get the day off in between it needs to recover! So if you workout smart on those days, then NO WORRIES! You are doing great! You've been an inspiration for me on the days it gets hard, so KEEP IT UP! (No pressures though right?!) LOL!
Well, my big, goofball of a dog made me completely miss the last three stairs this morning when I went to take him out and I landed on my leg with the bad knee. Nothing broke, but it's scraped up really good! Luckily, I was still able to do my workout this morning (push ups, sit ups, crunches, obliques, and squats). My knee was still hurting when I did the squats, but not enough to where I couldn't work through it.
I'll get on later to post my foods!
Everyone - Have a RAWKIN' RAW DAY!

Wonderful Wednesday!
I am going to try my best to get some exercise in today. Morn and Shine you are so right about getting something in... so far two days have flown by and all I've gotten 20 minutes of cardio on Mon and Tues morning (which is a brisk 20 min walk to work... I time myself to make it challenging). I was supposed to do my Tae Bo boot camp but wimped out of that hour workout last night. I am going to speak my exercise into existence. I did my 20 minute walk this morning but I know I got to stop slacking.
I just finished eating (at 8:00 a.m. my time) two nectarines. So far the rest of the schedule will look like this:
10 a.m. blueberries
12 n salad (romaine lettuce/tomatoes/parsley with vinegar/olive oil dressing)
handful of almonds
2 p.m I think I'll go with the gala apple
4 p.m. carrot salad (shredded carrots/broccoli/red cabbage w/same dressing)
I think this is the deal for today. I am missing my oat groats - they are all gone and so are the oatmeal cookies. I am going to make some more as soon as I get more oat groats.

Hi Everyone,
I am on Day 7. I appear to be hanging on to 152lbs. Perhaps I will lay of the raw nuts and see if it makes a difference. I tend to get a little carried away with those. I'm leaving to go out of town on Saturday and dried fruit and nut will be perfect for the plane flight. I am hoping to be able to go shopping when I get there so I can have my raw foods. I know I am going to get some disapproving looks and comments. I will be ready for it. It's funny, If I were diabetic, everyone would understand being on a special diet. When you are overweight and go on a diet, you get, "You are on vacation, you can go off your diet". I notice some of you post what you have eaten for the day. I think I should start doing that also. It looks as though all is doing well today, Keep up the good work. I will post again a little later.

Good morning guys,
Hopefully today will be the day I make it back to yoga! :p
Just finished my green smoothie. I also realized I haven't had any green tea since last week. And I actually haven't gotten the caffeine withdrawal headaches. Maybe I weaned myself off not knowing b/c lately I would only have about 1/4 of the cup anyway.
Was making my smoothie and got more questions (different people today). I had extra and let one guy try it. He really liked it. It's funny - he said he gives his dog spirulina/bee pollin supplements - living nutrition he called it. But he had never considered giving it to himself.

Hey all! I'm having a LATE checkin. I have had warm green tea, barleymax (again, raw, organic powder form)
Raw chocolate I made from here (Easter Chocolate recipe) I made the recipe, took some muffin liners and put them in the tin, put crushed pecans in the bottom of the liners, and poured small amount of chocolate to completely cover the pecans, then sprinkled with a couple of pieces of pecans. Put in the fridge until firm...YUMMO. Snacked on this all afternoon.
I've also had SOME water...not enough. I'll work on that for the rest of the day.
For dinner I think I will spiralize some cucumber and add:
salt, cumin, ginger powder. This is like Asian type rice noodles....YUMMY, I haven't made this in about a year, so I all of sudden am craving it.
Everybody is having an awesome challenge! Keep up the GREAT work!

I'm on day 10 raw. (I know it's only the 7th...I was so excited about this that I was ready to start earlier! :) )
Things have been going well! During the day I have no problem staying raw. I plan and pack my lunch ahead, so there is little temptation to order something cooked. Some nights I've had cravings, and it doesn't help that I cook SAD meals and desserts for my boyfriend every night. Dates have been my treat when I almost want a bit of cooked brownie that I'm serving for him. I also have either green tea, nettle tea, or ginger tea after my raw dinner, and that has been helping with any cravings.
I have been using my body brush to aid in detoxification. I brush for about 2 minutes in the morning before my shower. Whatever it's doing to help release stored fat/toxins, it sure feels good! :)
I am slightly concerned about this weekend though... it's my boyfriend's birthday and we're going out for dinner with his family. I don't know what I'll be able to eat, and I don't want to make a scene. His father is very strict in his ways, and I don't know if I want to even mention my going raw. I'm getting stressed over what I'm going to do. How do you all deal with situations such as this?
I just noticed while typing this how soft my hands are. I haven't used any lotion today either!
Great job everyone on their raw challenges! This site has been so helpful and motivating! Thank you all! :)

Hi Dextera: I just noticed you're in SF too! There are usually great salads on a lot of menus here...maybe ask if you can get one made into entree size? Being vegan I always asked them to make up veggie plates that weren't on the menu (they were cooked though) and I got some really creative things. But not wanting to make a scene you might be best with ordering a salad. And eat before you go. I have been having troubles with this too. But I have decided that if I eat a cooked meal when I'm out here and there, I'm ok with it. I try to stay 100% raw when the situation is under my control. Personal decision of course! Good luck! Oh and what kind of yoga do you do?

Hi Vegan Princess:
Thank you for your advice on eating out. That's what I was leaning towards...I'll most likely get a salad. I'm not going to be super strict. If I have a partially cooked meal this weekend, so be it. If I can avoid it, I will, but if there is no other choice, I'll have a cooked meal. At least it will be in the late afternoon/evening so I'll have more to digest before my next meal.
As far as yoga, I actually have only been doing it for 3 weeks. I am a newbie. I'm starting with hatha yoga, and then after I get some of the basics down, I want to branch out and try more. This is the first time I've been consistant with yoga (practice 4-5 days per week) and I've noticed some huge results! I'm much more flexible than I was just 3 weeks ago. I can't wait to see what kind of progress I'll have made in a year... Okay, I guess I'm preaching to the choir here, aren't I? :) How long have you been doing yoga?

i'm on day thirty, i admit i had a few errors in the past week, but i think it's due to what was my high fat intake, for the next 30 days i'm going to stick to fruitarianism and only eat fruits. i think this will help me a lot getting rid of any addictions to cooked food i may have. plus, i feel great on fruits.

Well, this morning I packed food for the day at work and left it at home ... unfortunately :o I then allowed myself to eat whatever I could get my grubby hands on and it wasn't raw (some pretzels, a few GirlScout shortbread cookies, and soup and bread for lunch).
HOWEVER, I did make a green smoothie for dinner (2 bananas, 1/2 c goji berries, spinach) and I did 15 minutes on the Gazelle :D
I also made some Burrito Dip from a recipe that I got in the mail from Frederick Patenaude:
Burrito Dip
By Frederic Patenaude
1 cup walnuts
1/2 lemon, juice of
2 tsp. chili powder (organic)
2 Tsb. chopped onion
1 large red bell pepper, diced
1/2 cup sun-dried tomatoes, soaked and diced
Instructions:
Mix all of the ingredients in your food processor. First, liquefy the walnuts
and lemon juice, then add the other ingredients, and keep on mixing in
your food processor, but without blending. Serve inside green lettuce
leaves.
and I'm going to eat it with celery tomorrow for lunch :p
I did do my taebo tape and abs of steel tape. I also ate a banana afterward. I just got done packing my lunch for tomorrow, making some more raspberry vinegarette for my salad, and cutting open one of the pineapples. It seems my daughter and I are in competition for dibs on the pineapple so I got 2 this time!
Lavender - there is the recipe for the red pepper hummus on this site if you want to try to make some. I would add more lemon though.

Good morning all! Okay Dawn, it's not a song with RAWK in the title though! Today is about movement, but fun movement so....
"There'll be swinging and swayin', and records playin', we're Dancin' In The Street!"
How's that? Get up and move your bootie! You don't have to run, or do a boring exercise routine! Get up and dance! Do it for fun, not for drudgery! Have a ball!
So, I did do my workout for 45 minutes this morning. But, I'm about to turn on the tunes and start dancing around while I get some stuff done around here for a little bit before the kids get up!
Ooh! I had a victory last night! 2 out of my 3 kids don't like the choc./banana shake I make because they say it tastes too much like banana. So I took out the frozen banana's, added some ice and a dash of vanilla and VOILA! They all 3 love it! That is so rare for them! I love raw victories!
Have an awesome raw day all!

Well its day 7 and I have had zero detox. Is this normal?
Yes. It varies widely how much/when people detox. :)

I threw my piece to the Labs Who eat anything & they spit it out & looked @ me like ewwww
Oh God I can still smell it. Maybe we can bottle that as an appetite suppressant?:p
Well gotta roll

May I just add to the whole dancing thing, that it's REALLY good to do if you're getting stiff from previous workouts! Gets things moving and stretching and feeling better!

Good Morning!
I feel so happy today. I don't really know why.. I'm always able to wake up and feel good but today it's like I've got this extra boost. I'm alive and I guess that's enough reason to be.
Anyway, I forgot my veggie salad that I had prepared today... oh well, I will be eating nut and fruits until I get home tonight.
Shine -
Guess who just had 2 kiwi fruit - eaten with a spoon:D. It really is a refreshing take on eating these. The challenge for me is to get all of the fruit... I don't want to leave anything behind.
This is the deal for today:
10 a.m. pint of blueberries
12n one ambrosia apple
2 p.m. handful of cashews
4 p.m. handful of almonds
I soaked the almonds in some water and seasonings for a couple of hours and then dehydrated them basically overnight (accidently fell asleep:o ). My goal was to try to create a flavorful spicy almond (instead of buying them). They pretty much taste the same. I didn't even look in Alissa's book. I just decided to give it a try. I'll have to try this out again.

I’ve only eaten green smoothies for the past three days and I’m doing OK. I’m having some moments of mental clarity but mostly I still feel spacy, plus I’m still experiencing some generalized fatigue.
I’m in good spirits and hopeful about the future. I’m enjoying this discussion forum, and this thread in particular. Best wishes to everyone who is sharing this journey with me.
Yesterday’s 3 quart smoothie Recipe:
5 medium Bananas
1 pound romaine lettuce
6 cups chopped watermelon
½ cup frozen blueberries
¼ cup frozen whole cranberries
2 Tablespoons flax seeds
36 oz filtered tap water
I had an additional 32+ ounces of water and 4 Rolaids. No other food, beverages, supplements, or medications.

I had done so good about eatting raw then fell off Friday night when I wanted a salad and was not pleased with the dressing recipe I had made from the book, I couldnt stomach the tiniest piece so that lead me to really wanting ranch dressing ... then I kinda slid off from there I do great during the day then when dinner comes and I have to make something for hubby and son, then I fall off to the smells, the memories of that it tastes soo good type of thing ... sometimes its much easier to walk away like to the hotdogs but yet I still had one and the whole time didnt know why I even did that!
Im jumping back on today and made a green smoothie and am sticking to it, because I need to do this for ME! I had kept away from here because I felt guilty, I let myself down, I felt I didnt deserve to be here... I know thats not the case, I need to be here for support and I need to just pick myself up and get on with things.
Im terrible about journalling all together so I know Im not an active person esp in this thread but Im going to try to check in each day at the end of the day and say how Ive done.
So today is a new day and today I will make the changes for myself!

ItsSimplyAmazing,
I'm glad you came back. It is especially inspiring to for me to read experiences like yours because it helps me feel less alone in my own cooked food cravings. (mine happen to be for chocolate, though:D ) This is a great place for unconditional support. And honesty is part of the commitment. I am not perfect and I am glad we can all be ourselves here.
ANd still get support, and know we are not being judged. Goodness knows, we are usually our own worst judges.
I have had a bad habit of eating a small piece of dark chocolate almost everyday, while staying raw with everything else. It was my one vice or rward- or something I tried to justify. Yesterday I committed, for my own sake, to take the chocolate temptation out of the house., So today is day 2 of no chocolate! Hurray. It may seem like a small victory, but I was beginning to feel like the chocolate was controlling me, and I want to be the one who decides what goes in this body!
I am afraid I might be addicted to raw chocolate, too. So I am in no rush to experiment with that. Perhaps I will explore the raw carob dessert making world, someday soo.
So best of luck to all of you wonderful March Raw Food folks! I love reading this thread. It keeps me faithful! And it gives me added strength to stay true to my own desires for optimal health!
Enjoy your living food, everyone!
So far Today
For breakfast:
Applesauce - an apple, a couple of dates, and cinnamon thrown in the food processor. YUMMY!
Later a bowl of yummy pineapple.
Lunch
Veggie soup - celery/tomato/carrot with a few soaked almond & seasoned with lemon/sea salt/raisins all Pureed in a Vitamix - then I added a handful of chopped romaine into the soup for texture. YUM!

Okay, can I share ladies and gents?! I know I can make it raw through this next BUMP in the road of life. We just found out the Army is NOT going to move our stuff from our temp. location here to our next duty assign. cause it's not at our old assign. Sorry if we didn't all want to be separated for 7 months if we didn't have too! Anyhoo, my thing is this, I know I can stay raw and not stress eat through this. I know it with every part of my being!
So, that beings said, if I make it through this 100% raw (and I will!), then I can make it through anything and stay 100% raw! That is a major accomplishment for me. I've been an emotionaly eater since about the age of 20, so 14 years of a really bad habit has been OFFICIALLY broken! Yay, Yay, Yay!
Sorry, I just had to share. While I'm agitated about the one part, I'm over the moon about the other! I feel so FREE!
I'm just going to keep in mind that what doesn't kill us makes us stronger! LOL!:)

Hi Everyone,
I'm on day 8 and still happy and enthusiastic I still have some concern about not losing any weight for the past couple of days. I can't help but wonder if I may be eating too much. I don't have a gage to go by. here is what I had today.
Tall glass of organic Orange juice/(half water)
A bowl of organic spinach leaves with grape tomatoes and 2tblspns of Seeds of Change Italian Vinigrette
A bowl of mixed organic unsulfered dried fruit with mixed raw nuts and raw sunflower seeds
I end the evening with a cup of tea
I usually stick to the same theme with variations of salad. I will sometimes add a handful of lentil sprouts and some micro greens. I then, have a glass of fresh juiced, organic carrot juice. That's pretty much what I eat. My salads are big. you could feed two people easily. Is there a portion limit:confused:
My Stats
1/4/07 174lbs my highest weight. Went on a couple of water fasts.
2/9/07 161lbs Started Master Cleanse
2/26/07 150lbs Completed 17 day Master Cleanse
3/1/07 149lbs Day 1 post Master Cleanse.

1 Clementine
1 Glass Fresh, Hand-squeezed grapefruit juice
1 Choc./banana shake
1 salad w/avocado and dressing
Thanks all! I feel better now. Just tired from getting up so early and then doing the run around to get boxes! THANK YOU KROGER!

****REALLY AWESOME DURIAN STORY**********************
So I just left my office w/my co-worker and the SUPER HOT blue-eyed blondie w/dreads from my raw cafe that I have been lusting over for months walks by (office is no where near the cafe). I said hello and we started chatting and he told me he had just bought a durian. I told him I'd never tried one and that I was afraid of it. He goes "no way..you're raw..you have to try it!". So he broke it open right there on the street for me to try. I sniffed it and while it did smell a little, I really liked the way it taste. He did say they don't carry it in the cafe though b/c so many people are "repulsed by it". He listed off all the healing qualities of it and also said it contains something or other that helps your body produce serotonin. He also said it's the only fruit a lion will eat. Anyway, I'm still giddy from my encounter with him. Hehe! Though I must admit he does look more like a dirty hippie out of the cafe. But he's still hot in an "I could never take you to my office christmas party" sort of way.:D
What a synchronicity though...I have been thinking today of durian and one was brought to me!
Had to work today and then after work stopped by to see my friend Ernie who has cancer and is on Hospice and then went to workout at the gym. I worked out for over 1 ½ hours and then to the fruit market & unto a meeting at my daughter’s preschool. Full day! Foods eaten:

30 minutes stationary bike
20 minutes stair master
Inner thighs – 50 reps at 80 pounds
Outer thights – 50 reps at 80 pounds
Chest presses – 50 reps at 60 pounds
